Celtic are so far and away the best in SPL, no one has a chance

Colm, who else do you think Celtic will sign during the summer. It looks like it's gonna be Scott Brown plus one in central midfield... a new defensive midfielder maybe?

No, there is no one strong enough in the Scottish League this year to beat Celtic to the SPL title. Regardless of who Rangers sign, and it won't be big players as they haven't the money, Celtic will again be SPL Champions.

Can the writer of this piece tell us all which team in the SPL took the most points after Walter Smith took over at Rangers? Hint: It's Rangers. He did that with an underachieving team. All he has to do is add a few players and there WILL be a challenge next season.

There is no doubt that Celtic will have the best squad of players for next season. However, Walter Smith has the edge over Strachen and seems to get the most out of players. With Smith Rangers will be a force next season no matter who plays. Will it be enough?

To those who rest their hopes on the fact that Smith garnered more points once he took over at Rangers, the exact same malaise that affected Celtic seemed to come over Rangers once second was secured....they lost their last two games. Once Celtic went out of the CL, the team went into a funk cos there was nothing left to play for...the league was in the bag and there was only the Cup, which saw Celtic face supposedly lesser opposition. While Celtic are far from unbeatable, the guys that haven't achieved have kudos and a value elsewhere...they can move Gravesen and Jarosik on to the EPl for hard cash, releasing a lot of space on the wagebill. Even the million received for Wallace and Varga was great business, as was the other million for Maloney. The fact remains that for all of his staff turnover at Celtic, Strachan is net SELLER... he has delivered two titles for buttons and a massively decreased wagebill. Rangers have went through the same process and have no silverware in the last two years to show.
Cheers for your kind words Al ;-). Guess the truth hurts. I'd love to see a more competitive league next season, but frankly it looks unlikely. Rangers got outbid for Brown and might get outbid for Naismith too. They need around 4 or 5 quality signings, and I just can't see it happening.
