If the proposed redevelopment of White Hart Lane gets the green light, then who do Spurs share with whilst the building work takes place?

I recall many years ago a proposal that Alexandra Palace would house both Spurs and Arsenal in a futuristic project. The flak both teams recieved was pretty horrendous and the scheme was shelved accordingly.

But if Tottenham have to vacate their home for a season or perhaps two, where do they call home while the builders are doing their stuff?. The Emirates? Surely not as I’m certain the stadium couldn’t stand up to the noise created by the Spurs supporters - Islington Council would be inundated with calls to their noise pollution team.

'It’s the only proposal that is viable for both clubs financially - but is it for the fans?'

All joking aside, this would be the most logical step to take, as locality and size of venue would suit Spurs, and there have been precedents in the past. During and after World War II, Arsenal called White Hart Lane home while Highbury was rebuilt after bomb damage. I also understand that Spurs shared with Arsenal during World War I, for the same reasons, though I’m not certain that was so. Either way, it would make financial sense as Arsenal would have an income they need from constant use of their ground.

How would either set of fans take to such an idea? Possibly not very well, I would forecast. It could work on paper, but would it in practical terms? Another option would be West Ham’s Upton Park, but if it wouldn’t work at the Emirates, then the reasons such a move would fail would be the same, wouldn’t they?

Wembley is another option, but I understand that there is no undertaking for the stadium to house games on a regular basis. If all of these proposals are non-starters, then a piece-by-piece demolition and rebuild would have to take place over a period of time, causing a loss in revenue from reduced gate receipts. And it's hard enough to access WHL now, let alone if streets are shut off.

As much as it pains me, the only real option available to Tottenham is a share with Arsenal. It’s the only proposal that is viable for both clubs financially - but is it for the fans?
