just plain scare mongering you idiot
by Fab$ on June 25, 2007
Because your scaremongering would seem to suggest otherwise.
by spudhater on June 25, 2007
Initially it may have a effect, but the team played without him on the pitch for a hell of a lot of last season & still finished 4th. Bring in a couple of high calibre players & it's 2nd or 3rd place. Arsenal are still better than most if not all Premireship clubs!
by shad on June 25, 2007
This is just rubbish. Arsenal is the ONLY CLUB NEVER RELEGATED from the top flight and can cope with the loss of a striker who barely performed last season!!!
by Victor solomon on June 25, 2007
Get your goddam head out of the sand and stop wallowing in self pity you prat and if you are gonna whinge about some self obsesses footballer whose words are as fickle as the english weather then its time to grow up. I agree with you about one thing though arsene staying is paramount and i think and hope he stays. Whinging about henry leaving is bollocks he chose to go came up with all the flimsy xcuses about dein and wenger when he'd promised less than a year ago he was staying for life. I hope arsene signs to show how stupid his comments are. He says he loves arsenal, seem to me that he's in love with dein and arsene more than arsenal.

cum'on mate! life has to go on after henry. was he going to play forever?
by Arturo on June 25, 2007
Sensational captain? TH14 was many things, probably the best player, certainly striker the club has ever seen, but equally he could well have been the worst captain too. Which makes me wonder if you have ever even watched Arsenal play. We have seen many great players leave Arsenal during Wenger's tenure and have any of them gone onto greater things? Merson, Wright, Petit, Overmars, Paddy, Winterburn, he has timed all of their departures to perfection, so if you think that Arsen didn't sanction TH14 leaving for a good reason then you you are delusional.

if he is gone. He is not first or the last player that will leave Arsenal. Arsenal is bigger than any player, manager or board member. Off-course Thiery will be missed, and should be missed, after all he was the best stricker we ever had. But AW will have it covered and I am sure this thing has been planned for a long time. Remember that the club have never made a statement with regards to Henry, throughout this period. It was Thiery himself that proclaimed that Arsenal is his last club, contract, whatever. The man should become a politicians after football, he will be great at it. And his comments why he left etc, what was that all about? I expected that he will come with a better excuse than David Dein's departure. He was a lousy captain. I hope now Gilberto will become our captain who is a true leader and motivator to the squad. Arsenal will bounce back and will be even stronger next year, because it is time for the youngsters to show what they can't do, and stop relying on TH as it was

This is sensationalist and emotive writing, without any substance or constructive thought. The value of it is? How about some consideration for how the GBP 16 million could be spent (in addition to other funds that have been made available)? How about discussion of how the youngsters will come through? Maybe comment on whether RVP and Ade can step up another level again this year? What about the impact that Gilberto (or someone else) will have as captain? There are many far more interesting articles to write than this whinging sentiment you have spewed out...

I don't understand why are there so much despair with the news of Henry departing for Barcelona. I do not dispute the fact that Henry had done and contributed so much that no other player now or in the near future will equal. It is a no contest but everything however good or bad must pass with time. Any Arsenal fan worth his or her salt should realised over the pass two years Henry had indeed loss a lot of his magic. He wasn't uncatchable anymore and his control was not as meticulous. Most importantly keen observer will realised the young team were actually performing better when he was not playing. They were more creative and willing to show their individual skills. Remember, it was the young team that took Arsenal to the final of the Champions League in 2005 but unfortunately Arsene Wenger decided to display the young players with his regular team in the final and they failed miserably. They have no fire in their heart and lost. Remember the heroics of a guy call Flamini who played almost all the matches e

What about Everton then? Never relegated from top flight!
by gunz on June 25, 2007
I agree with some of the things you say but you're taking it wayyy to far! Arsenal may struggle but one man never made a team. When Ian Wright went, who'd have thought that anyone would have beaten hi record in our life time. Players leave, managers leave, although I hope Wenger stays. If he leaves we have to get on with it! If you want to imagine a lif without Henry just think back to the end of last season.. It's time to put faith in Le Boss once again!

by Sue on June 25, 2007
Oh come on why rise to the idiots, us Arsenal fans are better than this. He's gone, so what the club will go on. There is more to this than meets the eye...trust me.

I know Henry is a great player ...he has done a lot for arsenal...but we have seen the young players they can play without him...Sure Wenger will sign a superclass player(striker)...you will see arsenal next season...the only persom whom I don't want to go fro tne club is Wenger...I like his way of coaching...I have never seen any coach who could change the whole team with young players and manage top be one of the best clubs in the world...I believe Arsenal are the best entertaining team in the world...next is barsa..
by Kwami Adadevoh on June 25, 2007
Hold on a minute so Henry's gone but hello not too long ago we lost 2 (not 1) great players in Overmars and Petit to the same Barcelona but we were the better for that in the long run and not Barca. I'm just upset we let him go for peanuts.
by utd biys on June 25, 2007
u didnt achieve anything with ur kids, unlike fergie who won the title with a bunch of kids, still something the wenger boys are yet to do!

My eyes are clouded with tears, each one them streaming down my face, breathless I write this piece to express the sheer joy at reading such sychophantic unadultrated codswallop. The tears are through Laughter and the breathlessness through even more laughter, and hopefully much more laughter when the real acid test of a replacement becomes evident, all talk of Eto'o, you couldnt afford Berbas Big toe...Henry's a goner (geddit) for life

Jesus boo-hoo or what? Some of these comments are risable. Shad, well done for actually putting your point about Arsenal being the only club not to be relegated from the top flight in capitals so we could all see how wrong you were. Great to see so many of you turn on Henry, if Dein departing was a reason then so be it. I'm sure it was part of his reason as the Dein brought him to Arsenal amongst others. The future therefore is uncertain and Henry wants the European Cup before he retires. He has a far better chance of doing that at Barca than Arsenal. He had more ambition than Arsenal and unfortunately he didn't feel they were moving fast enough for him to fulfill that. Everyone else moaning about him lieing last year, signing his contract, etc, etc. WAKE UP! Have you been in a box on the moon for the past decade? Who honours their contracts these days? No doubting Henry is a loss to the Premiership, most notably your lot but I can't see it being that huge a loss. As some of you have also correctly stated, th
the youngsters will now come to the fore. Your biggest worry should be Wenger and I think that's a real concern. Fab will go too if Wenger does
by Joel Cairo on June 25, 2007
The statistics do not support this claim. Arsenal secured 1.79 points per game played overall, which was 1.88 when TH14 played. But is was 1.91 when RVP played, and in the 7 games RVP played and TH14 did not, it was 2 points. Arsenal is strong enough and deep enough to improve next year, with or without Henry.
