Roy Keane is looking to add to his Championship-winning Sunderland squad by signing top-quality Scottish keeper (yes they do exist) Craig Gordon from Hearts (Daily Mirror). Gordon has been keen to leave the troublesome surroundings of Tynecastle and a shot at the Premiership will no doubt tempt him. Good move for Gordon, but not so good for those left wilting in the purple half of Edinburgh. Rumour ranking 8/10

Sven Goran Eriksson has already been planning signings should his appointment at Manchester City be confirmed. Arsenal’s Freddie Ljunberg and Marlon Harewood of West Ham have been mentioned in dispatches. Both players could do a good job for City who need forward impetus. Is the Swedish link between Eriksson and Ljungberg relevant? I think not, and would be surprised if that deal goes through (2/10), but I can see Harewood making the move 8/10

There is a school of thought that says that if a quote has been added to a rumour then this adds validity to what might otherwise be easily disregarded. Eidur Gudjohnsen has spoken about his plight on the fringes of the Barcelona starting line-up: "It's difficult to produce your best when you're not playing regularly. I would be playing once or twice a month, whereas in England I'd play more often because there are more opportunities there for players who aren't starters. That helps you maintain your form.”

This has led to speculation that a host of clubs including Manchester United, Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham have shown an interest in the proven Premiership striker. One can’t help but think that should he move to Old Trafford or Anfield he would simply be warming a subs' bench, whereas at Newcastle or West Ham he would be first choice. So, 2/10 for joining United or Liverpool and 7/10 for him being a member of the Toon Army or Hammer.

On the managerial front, much has been said about whether Arsene Wenger will leave now that Thierry Henry has done a runner. Or did Henry leave because Wenger was going to leave? Arsenal fans, you can relax, Arsene is close to signing a new four-year contract (Sunday Mirror). I don’t believe that this will happen so soon after Thierry’s move 2/10

Rangers and Spurs are involved in a tug-of-war over Bordeaux full-back Julien Faubert(Daily Record). But both sides' valuation of the player are drastically short of what Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud is demanding. It seems that either side would shell out the £10m wanted for a seemingly unknown quantity. 3/10 for Rangers and 7/10 Spurs, simply because Spurs clearly want to spend some money.
