Am I alone, a faint voice in the dark unheard? Surely all knowledgeable football fans know that Arsene Wenger W is a man of integrity, that unlike so many in this mercenary age, his word is his bond? The man has never broken a contract!
Remember, we had to wait for the J-league season to end before he arrived on British shores, so why would he leave now? Would he really want to go to Spain or Italy, where the presidents pick which players come to the club, or a manager is fired for winning the league?
Many people are under the assumption that money is not available at Arsenal for squad strengthening, but that is not the case. AW has always been given money when he requires it (Sylvain Wiltord, Thierry Henry, Jose Antonio Reyes), but going out and buying proven superstars has never been the great man's way; he much prefers to capture young, hungry players rather than experienced ones looking for a pension.
With £16m from the sale of TH14, £2m from Jeremie Aliadiere, and whatever we receive from the sale of Reyes (although I would not be heartbroken if he came back, older and wiser), AW has plenty of money to spend if he believes that is the way to go.
However, if Robin van Persie starts the new season the way he did last year, and Emmanuel Adebayor has settled to the Premiership, Arsenal have a forward line with pace, power, height and above all . . . hunger. That's something TH14 may just have lost a little of in his last couple of years at the club.
With an older Theo Walcott hopefully showing some of the form that destroyed the German Under-21 side, and Nicklas Bendtner having had a full season on loan at Birmingham, there is some able back-up. In spite of those players, the possibility is that AW may want to bring in a player like Carlos Tevez or Obafemi Martins, and if he does, the board will back him.
So before everyone succumbs to the sense of doom and gloom that the red-tops and certain ex-players seem intent on perpetuating, let's thank TH14 for a wonderful ride (who would have dreamed in the days of George Graham, and 1-0 to the Arsenal, that we would have the best player in the world scoring 30 goals a season for us?), but look forward with hope and expectation. In AW we trust.

Thanks for finally showing some common sense and logic, it is nice to hear it the moment as many Arsenal and rival fans seem to be either losing it in desperation or praying for our demise when its just not going to happen, Sorry Spuddies. Anyone remember the state Man U were in 3 years ago?

The right player is TEVEZ thnks
by Matthew Hampshire on July 02, 2007
Without a doubt Mr Teves would be the perfect replacement for TH14. he fits the ideology of AW and Arsenal and most of all he exictes with every shoot, pass and dribble just like our old no1 TH14. Good luck with Barca TH14. remember you aint god no more!

Glad to hear someone more focussed on what we have rather than what we don't, though of course we do need to look at what we can use to improve the side... And the main point of yrou article is that Arsene is OF COURSE thinking long & hard about it at a level that none of us will. Of course, he will buy, if not to boost the first team, then certainly to boost depth (particularly with the players leaving the club). Our main issue last year was quality cover for injuries, suspensions and tough scheduling through January (although that cover will improve) and in particular, quality finishing with RVP and TH14 out. We also at times needed a plan B or C when goals weren't coming. With players leaving the club new players will come in and while I would love to have a marquee player such as Tevez arrive at The Arsenal, honestly, enough goals were created so we don't NEED someone of that level (and expense) - we just need someone to get the ball past the keeper and not over or around the posts. Huntela

Without a shadow of a doubt the two men arsenal need to bring them glory are: ricardo queresma and carlos tevez!
by Wilson on July 02, 2007
On my behalf, the only solution to arsenal is 2 bring Carlos Tevez in attacking line.with this arsenal can continue it's humiliation to other clubs along the world.
Huntelaar I think is the type of player if the price is right. I also think some more width, particularly on the right would be nice as a further option, though Rosicky is rightly first team player. I am not completely convinced with Eboue defensively and the cover across the back 4. With around 35 million by my calculation, AW will need to buy to build the depth and flexibility. This can be done with, say 4 acquisitions in the 4-7 million range and a striker in the 10-15 range. I doubt we will get a 20 player & I think more important than a big signing is better support across the board. Spend 25 on Tevez & he does his knee???!!! I would love him but I doubt it will happen.
More width on the left

Before thierry left we needed players and people are talking about bringing in a replacement for him and that's it?!? We desperately need a goalscoring winger and now at least one more striker if not two. We have to wake up and smell the coffee, we have fallen further behind Chelski and Manure.

Am i the only one who thinks signing tevez will be a mistake? If Tevez has a brilliant season, the hawks will come circling again, and we will once more have the familiar and unsettling willhe/wont he saga. For most Afican footballers, the premiership is the ultimate cos that is what we watch all day long. Martins will consider it a honour and privilege to play for a team like Arsenal (Just like Adebayor), and he is the ideal fox in the box that we have always wanted. With the chances Arsenal create in matches, Martins in an Arsenal top will be a 25 striker each season

This is what I've been saying all along. Bang-on correct. I've had similar sentiments on here http://thirdgen.wordpress.com

and I think Obefemi would be the better option exactly for the same reasons, African players are generally more reliable. I have no idea what way Arsenal will go but the last while Wenger has been rebuilding and using a lot of youth. Henry leaving does not change that process, it is regrettable occurence because regarldess of what some of the more bitter amongst you believe (or are trying to convince themselves) he is huge loss with his ability to single handedly change a game and his experience. Still, with him gone it allows some of the youth in his shadow to come into their own so rather than have one talisman you will have a number of players capable of turning a game. Where one does not perform 3 or 4 others might so not as big a crisis as relying on Henry as the Gooners did sometimes.

I think, i seriousely think that buying Eto'o would make Arsenal fans to forget TH14. As for me, i m sooooo disappointed on TH14. He should not leave Emirates & Arsenal fans who love him so much .... :( In Arsenal, Arsene is a God and TH14 is a King. However, i forget TH14 now.I will not miss him anymore, it's enough. Now, i still have our God.As long as God is there, he can create many Kings. DON'T WORRY all Arsenal fans. Let's hope the bright future of Arsenal with our smile ...... :) ... :) ... :) Sai Sanchaung, Yangon, The Union of Myanmar

Carlos Tevez ideally (hopefully the price isn't too high and.... wait for it... get ready... DAVID BENTLEY I would be SO unbelievably happy if he came back to Arsenal. He is exactly what Arsenal need, a very skillfull winger, got a great shot, he's ENGLISH, versatile (both wings and shadow striker) and would be EXACTLY what Arsenal need on the wings Come Back David Bentley!!!!

hey arsenal fc plz, plz, plz buy carlos tevez or anelka
by Michael on July 02, 2007
it's obvious every gooner is dying for arsene to get tevez and he would be a great asset to the team having been settled to the epl. We r reportedly bidding for anelka and now that he is mature and wiser he wouldnt be so bad, but isnt a key figure in mind. The magpies pair of michael owen and martins seems ideal but honestly english strikers are no good (unless raised by AW so wallcott should turn out awsome) so obafemi would be more likely. The reason why wenger is taking so long to decide is cos tevez isnt sayin anything till copa america is done. That in mind tevez is probably wengers num1 priority but i think he desperately wants anelka or martins.

i believe we need more defenders and that ower next th14 is gael clichy, he has speed, skill and he also be anouther leftback gone striker and would become a deadly player in arseals arsenal, also theo wallcot should become a left back, he reminds me ashely cole, he has his speed and his great crosses all he needs to do is get stronger and he will be perfect because english players r always one of the best defenders.

As much as I have to agree with what your saying regarding 'New Arsenal', I can't help but remind you, Manchester united will still win the league, as we are the greatest team on the planet.
by Tawfik on July 04, 2007
Forget about Tevez he is brilliant but short and stocky and does not like like a gooner to me. not the type of striker we want depsite his brilliance. martins is our man. He have scored some brilliant gaols last season( specially the one against Tottenham which I have to say is one of the best goals of the season, if not ever, I advise anyone to watch that goal again to realise that there is no contest. he is simply unbelievable and I can't wait to see him in an arsenal shirt
by swishstar on July 05, 2007
With the signing of Da'silva there are only three players that Arsenal need 1) Maluda on the left who can also serve as cover for Cliche.2) Quaresma on the right flank demoting Hleb to the bench who by the way i rate highly for his ball handling skills. And 3) Sagna who is quick and provides cover right across the back and do remember Gallas have a troublesome thigh. With those three players problem solve. We dont need another striker as that will cause problem in the camp and thats the last thing we need. Lets work with what we have which is a great squad no chelse nor man u not to mention Rafa reds. Lets not even mention tot'nam in the same sentence who is just grudgeful.

I WILL LIKE WENGER TO BUY MARTINS BECAUSE HE IS A DEADLY FINISHER WITH PRECISION IN FRONT OF GOAL..HE HAS 11 GOALS IN 17 MATCHES FOR NIGERIA..
