I travel around the country a lot and go to a fair few matches at a lot of grounds, in my opinion (and this is a matter of opinions) I found Pompey and Hammer fans to be the best I have heard / seen, Newcastle fans are overated, Man u are rubbish, dissapointed in Liverpool (I possibly expected too much) Arsenal are crap, Man City and Everton are good the rest are mediocre at best. Sorry if I offend anyone but thats how I have experienced it so far !!!

I am left to wonder if you might not be one of that profoundly paranoid mob who form the white half of North London support. we definitely do have a good record at Goodison Park!!!!

Portsmouth fans have always impressed me, Im a west Ham fan and yes, Id agree with the comments above but Pompey always struck me as my second fav fans.

Pointless, biased and for the most part wrong.

I have been a Liverpool fan all my life. And a football fan. In my experience you can easily see who are the real fans and the glory hunters. The best fans for sound and passion outside Liverpool for me has to be Everton and Sunderland (welcome back Sunderland). Then again, the Everton - Liverpool games are always loud :)

All I heard at Stamford Bridge was non stop racist chanting. They're the worst fans. The only non racist chant they did was "chelsea chelsea".

i Think you are right in m,ost cases, i was trying to find out what team you suport, i am a Liverpool fan myself, couse you said you had been impressed of Liverpool fans even when they were getting traqshed i would think youre a Chelsea fan or a Arsenal fan as they are the only side who has come to anfield over reasent years and trashed uss, FA cup this year and Carling cup for Arsenal and Chelsea 4-1 in 2005 was on that game and we keept on singing even at 4-1, would be nice if you find the time and write me to tell me what team you suport :)

Weren't Liverpool fans named the "worst in europe" by Fifa last year? You'd have to go some way to beat the turks but you managed it by stealing tickets off kids, attacking Milan fans in Athens main square when you went a goal down, conceded a second and finally when the game finished(Youtube it) and storming gates, risking another Hillsborough. The noise coming from the dippers fans at Old Trafford last season was deathly quiet, probably because you were completely outplayed. Usually they make a lot of noise and you can get a bit of banter going. The best fans for atmosphere were Portsmouth/Roma(they kept sining all night-superb)/Celtic

Have been impressed by Charlton fans a couple of times last season. Their final premier league game at Anfield was one that sticks in the memory as they were down but had packed the stands despite the 500 mile round trip. They were vocal in support for their team throughout the game and after. The same happened at the valley a few weeks previous where I caught them against Reading and in the reverse fixture with Liverpool back in December.

Finally one decent article from Sportingo of those i have read lately. No doubt Liverpool fans are the best in EPL and of the rest West Ham and Fratton park fans always impress and not tot forget the Toons. These are the four clubs where you really find some atmosphere to enjoy apart from that of the game!

West Ham fans in my experience at Upton Park, have been brilliant. I've never been impressed with the atmosphere at Old Trafford. .

Having been up and down the country over many years i have found West Ham fans by far and away the best, but Everton whenever they have visited Upton Park amazes me the amount of beautiful girlies they have following their club.

Hahahahahahaha, that's the best thing i've heard in a long time... you are obviously a Gooner fan, a great stadium that lacks any soul and that's the result of a silent crowd... moving from the Library hasn't changed anything, even one of your own last season was asking for you to raise the level a few notches... 'a cauldron' that did tickle me!!! Next you'll be telling me that Blackburn and Wigan almost fill their stadiums every week!!! Pompey are good but it is easier when you have lower expectations, much the same as the Spammers, that is exactly why ManUsa always struggle for a vibrant atmosphere. As for the Bridge, well they just all used to be ManUsa fans. Everton always have a great crowd, as do the Geordies. Liverpool on a European night looks and sounds superb. I'm looking forward to an amazing atmosphere at the Stadium of Light on the opening game of the season and it should be a cracker... COYS

I am actually a Wolves fan, but have enjoyed many a trip around the country to watch various football. I have to say the worst atmosphere for any sort of energy at all was at Arsenal, although I have only been to the Emirates once that was the Semi against Tottenham and they won. Man Utd can be loud, but then its huge. Villa always had a good atmosphere, but then nothing compares to a good baggies derby.

Don't think any of the above is truly offensive to any tribe of fans. Ralph is not claiming his research is definitive or scientific, He does sit on the fence ever-so-slightly with just a hint of praise just after having a pop.... And a man who can use 'White Hart Lane' and eclectic in the same sentence deserves hearing out I think. Being a Hub-Cap thieving Scouse (You do all live in a stereotypical fantasy world don't you ). I think we are largely fantastic when we get behind our team, and all jibes aside, I think any other team would love to replicate our loyalty and support. Having said that we have our fair share of embarassing crew and unfortunately it's right up there with the best of them. I think largely down to people who are not experienced euro-match travellers, but loud-mouthed pissed-up 'Anglophiles' and opportunist big-game bunkers....But don't all teams have them. Especiually the national side..... All things said and waying up the good and bad in all our supporters, Would I swap our fans?

I've always found the Lane to have a good atmosphere but the fans are always
