Today's transfer talk also includes Birmingham, Chelsea, Bolton, Cardiff, Wrexham, Blackburn and Rangers. Whether you believe any or all of it is up to you . . .
'Granted, Dudek will no doubt become second or even third choice at the Bernabeu - but he may just get a few appearances in the Spanish equivalent of the Carling Cup'
Spurs are looking to off-load some deadwood from their rapidly increasing and improving squad. First on the list today is Hossam Ghaly, who is said to be attracting attention from Birmingham City (Daily Mirror). There is no doubt that the Egyptian does possess some talent but whatever you do, Steve Bruce, do not sub him! Ghaly to Brum YEA (a figure of £7.5m has been bandied about, surely that can’t be right?)

Next we have the much maligned Wayne Routledge, also very much surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane. The winger has managed just three appearance in a Spurs shirt. Bolton were said to be interested in the 22-year old but Sammy Lee pulled out when Martin Jol insisted on getting his money's worth - £3m apparently. It seems to me that Routledge is easily worth £3m, so someone will snap him up soon enough. Routledge to flee North London YEA

Yet another Spurs player who could be on his way out is full-back Pascal Chimbonda, who according to reports is number two on Chelsea’s hit list. Should they fail in their final bid of £14m for Sevilla’s Daniel Alves (Daily Mirror), then they will come knocking on BMJ’s door (or alternatively they may call him on his mobile, or  just catch him on the training ground - anyway, you get the idea). I fully imagine that Sevilla will relent, or simply Alves will just down tools and the Spanish club will be forced to part with the talented defender. Where this will leave Pascal, I don’t know - do you? Alves to Chelsea YEA, Chimbonda to stay at Spurs YEA/NAY

There are some, and I am among them, who feel that Liverpool keeper Jerzy Dudek was not exactly well treated at Anfield following his Champions League Final heroics. Apparently he has friends in high places because following the non-renewal of his contract it appears  La Liga champions Real Madrid are showing a very real interest in the Pole (tribalfootball.com). Granted, Dudek will no doubt become second or even third choice at the Bernabeu - but he may just get a few appearances in the Spanish equivalent of the Carling Cup (not the San Miguel Cup surely?) to show that he is loved.

Yet again it is reported that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is about to make a winning bid for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o (Marca). Apparently this rumour/lie very much depends on the future of Cesc Fabregas, who as far as I am aware has stated pretty much categorically that he is happy and staying at the Emirates. Eto’o to be going to Arsenal NAY! Fabregas to stay at Arsenal YEA, because let's face it, if he leaves his loss will be twice as painful for Gunners fans to take.

Cardiff City have lost interest in one former England international and focused on another. Seemingly priced out of the Robbie Fowler deal, they have snapped up Trevor Sinclair from Manchester City. The 34-year old former part-time model has had one or two good games in the last four years in Manchester but not much else so I expect City fans will not lose sleep over his departure.

Rangers are very close to picking up Wigan’s determined Scottish midfielder Lee McCullough (Daily Record). The deal is thought to be for around $2m, which seems pretty reasonable for a player with Premiership experience who will add some much-needed steel as Walter Smith’s seek to claw back the title from Celtic. McCullough to Rangers YEA - and a good signing as well!

Blackburn and Wales midfielder Robbie Savage, owner of ‘the face most in need of a slapping award’ for a record seven successive years, has hinted that one day he would like to play for and indeed maybe even manage his hometown club Wrexham (BBC Sport). The question is, is the man who is to football what Evander Holyfield is to cricket good enough to play for Wrexham? The answer to that is a resounding NAY!

Ghaly and Routledge are most definitely surplus to requirements, but i hope we don't give Cheski Chimbonda!
Boris the tackle (11/07/2007 12:27)
Yes
Yes, I believe you. SWP to the Lane, most definitely a good idea. But do not take Johnson. There are stories about him and goats yer know that are not pleasant
Ricky (11/07/2007 12:40)
Chimbo isnt going anywhere, as for £7.5m for Ghaly, someone is confusing the fee for him with the dinner bill for him and Mido last night. Birmingham have just sold the Clem for £750,000, someone has probably got the wrong end of the stick. SWP is a poor mans lennon and we'd have no use for him, Johnson is a poor mans Philip Neville, which i dont need to explain further.

oi
You're supposed to say don't bring on Ghaly as a sub and then sub him 20 minutes later like only a stupid fool would do!

Chimbonda MUST stay. We need him!
Ken (11/07/2007 13:40)
Spurs are surplus to requirements in the Premier League. I don't support Arsenal.
Pete Hamlet (11/07/2007 13:42)
How can you say Dudek wasn't treated well? We allowed him to stay in our first team for years despite clanger after clanger (see Diego Forlans brace) and gave him the time to develop and progress (on some very handsome wages as well) – which he failed to do. Yes he had a fantastic Champs league final, but that was the sum of his efforts, one match!!! What about all the other matches? I calculate he roughly cost us 9-12 points per season with clangers. It was time to get a better keeper and that we did with Reina. Dudek’s 'heroics' were very well appreciated by all of Liverpool’s fans but this isn’t a business of friendship and if you’re not up to the necessary standard you’re out, regardless of the outcome of one match.

OUT - Ghaly £3m,Routledge £2.5m,Gardener £2m,Murphy £1m,Lee £3m,Chimbo £12m,Rocha £3m - total £26.5m. IN - Davies £8m,Sneidjer £8m,Van de Vaart £10m,Van den Borre £3m,Micah Richards £10m. total £39m nett outlay = £12.5m if we sell defoe for £12.5m then we are all square.give the youngsters a chance.Peckhart as 4th striker.Taarabt on LW and Ifil at right back cover.
Pete Hamlet (11/07/2007 13:45)
We showed Dudek he's loved by letting him play against Arsenal twice and looked what happened!!!! He let 9 in!!! NINE!!!!! Reina went 20 matches without doing that!!!! Dumped out of both cups in a week!!! And you've got the cheek to say we treated him unfairly!!! Who do you support mate? Well you buy him then and lets see how much love you show the f*cker!!!!!
john (11/07/2007 14:00)
Poor sad old Ken.Doesn't like Spurs, doesn't support Arsenal but too gutless or embarrassed to own up to who he supports. they must be really poor. Otr he has wandered on to a football site by mistake. Perhaps a prawn form a cocktail sandwich has bitten back.

Surplus to requirements, what on earth does that mean?, how can any team be surplus to reqirements, especially one so steeped in history, well supported, nice kit, fans who can actually express themselves, both with their passion and attendance both home and away. Explain yourself without the use of crayons or is it bedtime for you already
conor (11/07/2007 14:19)
i still think we should try to get huntelaar, then we would also have no african cup a nation worries and babel, left mid and forward and no ACN woories and then curtis davies - relally solid and ENGLISH!!

you forgot about fat robo the goalkeeper! surely he adds to the bargain basement of spuds players? Lasagne anyone?
rover_til_i_die (11/07/2007 15:10)
You hate Savage, fair enough most people do but just because he is a bit of a tw*t doesn't mean he can't play football. You obviously haven't heard that he attrated bids from other Prem clubs this close season and you have the gaul that he aint good enough for Wrexham. I just don't see what you mean?
le gay gooner (11/07/2007 15:28)
Read at the weekend that Eto'o says he would only consider premiership sides with prospects and mentioned that according to Henry, "Arsenal are on the slid, Arsene is next out". Poor old gypos

So,uou think Dudek wasn't treated very well at Anfield. Rafa made it clear to him that Reina was going to be first choice when he signed and Dudek was morw than happy to sit on the bench and pick up his £40.000 a week wages for the past two years. If he was unhappy why didnt he demand a move???
gingeryid (12/07/2007 08:22)
in responce to "fat robbo" - does it need 2 b mentioned that we hav englands no1 keeper and had he hav been in the ar***al squad he would easily be 1st choice ahead of jens lemmon. anyway, on to the important buisness, can ar***al fans not see that the signing of sagna is just masking ur troubles - u dont need a full back, u got eboue, gallas, chlichy, hoyte, (NO BALE MAY I ADD) y do u need another 1. what u need is a quality sticker not that brazilian reject u signed from croatia. hope u arse fans r gonna b watching spurs in the euefa cup this year so you can c how it is done in preperation for the 08/09 season when if ur lucky u might b playing euefa cup football while spurs are enjoying champions league success. i look foward to seeing the demise of ar***al as they are scum and shud move to france. spurs for 4th place. YID ARMY!!!!!!
gunnerpaul (12/07/2007 14:40)
Your post just about sums up your lack of knowledge. If you really believe that Arsenal are in demise you are very mistaken. You can only dream of ending the season above us. Your post show just how little faith you have in your team and I quote... "spurs for 4th place"... an team with real confidence and belief would be thinking about higher than fourth you moron
bob (13/07/2007 09:30)
i think you wuill find it is you who could be labelled the moron! even one of your own (Mr P Merson) has stated he feels Arsenal are in demise ..... so please stip crying
Julio Laker (13/07/2007 11:19)
Come on mate, Carling and San Miguel cannot be mentioned in the same breath. A flat weak gnats pish compared to a fine and far superior brew from Iberia!!
McLuke (13/07/2007 19:07)
It says it all that Spurs are "celebrating" the fact that we have made an immense profit from selling TH having had a very successful decade with loads of trophies. "Spurs for 4th place" is indicative of your lack of ambition. Mediocrity beckons for little spuds whilst we will continue to play in CL finals and win trophies, muah haaa haaa
Adam Spurr (18/07/2007 21:40)
Umm... You played in your first European final. Ever. Then lost it. We've played 3 & won 3 European finals. Also, please remind me. WHich trophies would you be talking about? I don't seem to remember that many to be honest.
Mani Thangadurai (10/10/2007 08:06)
ONE game, Mr. Hamlet? I think you conveniently forget that debut season when he helped you reach a high of 2nd in the Premiership, and the 2003 Carling Cup Final where he was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch. Fact is, mistakes or no mistakes he was a great keeper for your club and your comments smack of a lack of respect for the player and his achievements. And if you seriously think that Reina is the quality you need, you're deluded. He's hopeless on corners and high balls and has made even more ghastly errors than Dudek, yet Benitez has him on a pedestal and regards him as a sacred cow. And as to why he agreed to stay at the club after Istanbul, it was his love and loyalty to the club and his belief that he could make a good contribution that persuaded him to stay, but Benitez simply showed a lack of regard for his abilities and was never willing to give him a good chance to play, which cost him his place in Poland's World Cup squad. In spite of that heartbreak he still stayed for another season a
Mani Thangadurai (10/10/2007 08:13)
at the request of Benitez even if it meant sacrificing his international career, and when asked why he did it when his heart was not really in it, said, "Because the team's needs are more important to me than my own needs," That's the kind of man he is, that's the kind of professional he is, and you should quite frankly be ashamed to call yourself a Liverpool fan. If I were you, I would show him a little more gratitude and a lot more respect-had it not been for his brilliant saves, you would never have won the Champions' League!! P.S. Maybe if he had played in Athens last year Liverpool would have won too!
Mani Thangadurai (10/10/2007 08:30)

Well you buy him then and lets see how much love you show the f*cker!!!!![/quote] That isn't a sign of love. IF Benitez really regarded him he would have put both his keepers on an even footing and saying that they would keenly compete for the jersey. But by declaring that Reina was his first choice no matter what, the manager simply dented Dudek's confidence and the Cup promise was merely a means of saying, "Pepe will enjoy the lion's share of the feast, and Jerzy will just have to feed off the scraps." In my opinion, Dudek didn't let Liverpool down, Benitez let him down. Happily Jerzy is at a club where he is given greater respect, and the manager there has said that if Casillas slips in form, Dudek will get his c

chance. No more than what the man deserves frankly!
