F1 supremo wants Arsenal; Spurs clearing out; Heinze goes to court - and Fowler goes to Cardiff. Whatever next!

Today's transfer rumour mill also involves Manchester United, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bolton, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Everton. But it's anyone's guess how many of the reported deals will come off.

Now we are getting down to the serious business of balancing books. The summer’s big spenders are sitting back, taking stock, and suddenly realising it’s time for a spot of prudent pruning. Now the Rumour Mill gets into super-grind mode.

Spurs are the first to do some offloading with, according to Sportinglife.com, Egyptian striker Mido going to Birmingham City for £6m. The Londoners apparently are eager to snatch Steve Bruce’s hand off, and they may be amenable to a further advance from Brum for Hossam Ghaly. City reckon they can get him for another £3m.

Bruce toild the Daily Mail: “We started off talking about a loan deal for Mido. Then I was told we could buy Mido and Ghaly as well. It was a bit of a surprise.” Mido and Ghaly to Birmingham? YEA, YEA. And it looks as though Jermain Defoe is also on his way out – to Portsmouth. Harry Redknapp to sign the striker he’s so desperate for? YEA.

And here’s a bit of a shaker for Arsenal fans. Sportinglife.com are reporting that Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has not ruled out the possibility of a full takeover bid for the club. This in face of continued speculation that American businessman Stan Kroenke is also close to putting the finishing touches to a £650m buyout.

If Heinze wanted to buy out his contract he had to give notice before the season ended and further more if he did, he could not sign for a team in the same leauge. Simpel as that.
