We don't need Petrov anyway. 1: he is to injury prone with his dodgy knee (we don't need another Ledley King scenario!) and 2: I would like to see Taarabt have a run on the left as he looks more than capable in pre-season and with the youngster Rose joining today could be adequate cover along with Malbranque and Tainio who can do a job there.

The story also come sout o fthe reputable Liverpool paper the Daily Post. The naming rights would be worth £100 million over ten years. As a Liverpool fan I would certainly love to keep it simply as Anfield. However if for the first ten years it has to be known as "Adidas Anfield" or similar then it's not that bad of a price to pay. After all when you hear "The Emirates" who now thinks of the plane people? Perfect World: Anfield. Short term £100 million deal I'd begrudgingly accept.

I prefer the 'Lidl Arena'. But seriously name change would not be so bad as most people will still call it Anfield, if we persist with a dual name like Emirates and Ashburton Groove. Obviously the name of Anfield is so strong that I'm sure it will live.

They just can't get rid of the name Anfield. Its not just a name, its a place and its ICONIC. I don't want our new stadium to be 'bought' just like Arsenal.
Funyn you should say "Lidl Arena", if Everton move to their new ground (and if all fo the blue-noses I know get their way there's no chance of that) then Tesco will be incorporated into the stadium name. I think Arsenal are also on a 10 year deal so they'll go back Ashburton Grove soon enough. Wonder how long before Man City can get theirs officially changed to "Eastlands".

Niec opener Mark, "poundstretcher". Dregs hit it on the head i think. Short term goals do further the long term plan. But i do think Arsenal fans miss the Highbury name. Tottenham cant have wanted Petrov, without sounding arrogant i think if they did he would have signed as didnt he state he preferd that move?. As i stated on another article i think we need a more stable left sided player to compliment bales runs.
Sorry Degs, not dregs. lol, bottom of the barrel reference it wasnt.

Many West Ham fans feel he may have a disruptive influence, however I personally feel he'd be a great signing. He'll bring a lot of goals, and at the age of 28 is hitting is prime. Bellamy, Ashton, Zamora, Anelka and maybe Tevez; yes please.

i'm a spurs fan who went to see the mighty M.K DONS (local team) and by the look of west ham last night they need more than anelka, they need a priest to give the last rights COYS.

Once you sell the naming rights to a stadium, its gone for good. The Emirates won't revert to Ashburton Grove in ten years; either the airline will renew, or someone else will replace them. Sometimes you don't have to wait for the end of the contract. In less than a decade, San Francisco's baseball stadium has gone from PacBell Park to SBC park to ATT Park as the phone industry reconsolidation in the states continues. So, will Anfield become Virgin Air Stadium? CarPhone Warehouse Park? Vodaphone Arena? BP Park? Cadbury Commons? AstraZeneca Heath? Royal Bank of Scotland Moors? Party on....
