Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani promised Rossoneri faithful a major signing after their Champions League success. As the transfer window comes closer to an end it seems that the duo may fail to live up to their word. With just over a month till the transfer window closes, major targets Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o have both pledged their futures to Barcelona and other reported targets have made similar statements.

However, Milan hardly need a new star striker because they have four attackers who have won the World Cup once and the Champions League at least once. Alberto Gilardino didn't have a fantastic 2006-07 season, but he still collected his maiden World Cup and Champions League winners medals inside 12 months. He is young and has a bright future.

Pippo Inzaghi is a player many like to hate, though a recent endorsement from Pele should silence a few of the critics for a little while. Inzaghi picked up a World Cup winners medal in 2006 (one appearance - one goal) and cemented his position as a Rossoneri hero when he scored two goals to help Milan lift the Champions League trophy. He was also key in Milan's 2003 Champions League triumph and in their Serie A success in 2004. Super Pippo is probably the best poacher of his time, if not all time, and a big game specialist. He may not have the legs to play 50-plus games any more, but he'll be there at the end of the season bulging the back of the net.

'He (Ronaldo) has 304 professional goals from 387 appearances and seems determined to prove he still has all the talent that once set the world on fire'

Ronaldo is a legend. He has the most World Cup goals of all time to go along with his 2002 World Cup winners medal. In fact, the World Cup is his stage, collecting the Golden Ball in 1998 and the Golden Boot in 2002. At club level he lifted the UEFA Cup with Inter, a La Liga title with Real Madrid and a plethora of cup titles with various clubs. He has 304 professional goals from 387 appearances and seems determined to prove he still has all the talent that once set the world on fire.

Kaka. Whether on the pitch or off it, Kaka succeeds with style thanks to his determination and hard work. Kaka won the World Cup in 2002 with Brazil, Serie A in 2004 and the Champions League in 2007 with Milan. At this moment he is the worlds greatest player.

One problem is that Inzaghi and Ronaldo are injury prone, but coach Carlo Ancelotti prefers to play with one striker as much as he can so there won't be a huge strain on either player's body. Another problem is that Inzaghi and Gilardino have struggled to play well together, so if Ancelotti wants to play two strikers it will need to be Ronaldo plus someone. Despite these problems it remains one of the most accomplished and lethal attacking units in the World.

Despite the strength of Milan's attack, a big transfer is still really important to Milan. In today's football world buying players isn't just a way of improving a team, it is an exercise of a club's power and importance and demonstrates to the world the clubs prestige. To fail to make an important signing after winning Europe's premier competition after repeatedly stating that you would do so would be humiliating.
