If you have Hleb on the left we have a midfield that will be lucky to score 10 goals all year.

wat about rosicky?
by kixzon on August 05, 2007
Thought the preseason workout had us salivating at the prospect of Clichy on the left wing in front of Traore, Eboue out on the right in front of Sagna & with Hleb just behind the main striker... Against stronger oppositions - Arsenal can play 4-4-1-1 with the above combination as Hleb can fall back as the 5th midfielder offering more support for the engine room. Hleb can open up defenses when deploy behind the main striker. Against moderate opposition - Hleb can be taken out in place of a 2nd striker (Ade, Eduardo, Bendtner, Walcott) playing 4-4-2 This system appears to be more stable rather than a mix & match personnel.

u cant leave out a player of rosicky's quality out. Rosicky has to be in the team, as Van Persie said last season, "Rosicky is the most skilful player I've ever seen"
by Aaronfc on August 05, 2007
You cannot play Hleb and Rosicky on the wings at the same time. They both want to come inside instead of trying to get in behind and its too easy for opposition to defend. Rosicky is 100 times better that Helb. If we are not going to buy another winger I would go with Rosicky on the left and Eboue/Walcott on the right.

Eduardo on left, buy another striker.

Have you not been watching any of our pre season when hleb is playing the classic number 10 rather than left wing?? I dont think wenger ever plans to put him there. It's strange that u have the bold courage as a gooner to put the gunners in a position where wenger never and will never put them. Rosicky is our direct replacement for pires (who plays mostly on the left... remember henry pires cole combination on the left??). Having said that i was extremely impress with hleb's role one behind the striker til it makes me wonder can we drop cesc and let hleb play in the middle? or drop one of our strick force for hleb to play one behind RVP against the bigger clubs like against inter in the emirates cup. He certainly has more drive pushing forward from the middle compared to cesc's brilliant passing range which worked wonders when henry was around to collect it (Of course if RVP starts to connect with our little wizard then it's an entirely different story with both their talents combining). Hleb looks a lot bet
That is just an insult to Hleb. He'll win your support this season mr Aaronfc (if u r not spurs boy that is)
Rosicky & Hleb are the ones to operate behind the main striker. They are both complementary. Clichy should stay on the left in front of Traore unless either one is injured in which Rosicky/Hleb will be drafted there to cover. Talented as they may be, they are only useful if we play 4-4-1-1 & there's only 1position avaiable for either Rosicky & Hleb. But both can be deployed when either Cesc or Gilberto is out. This also depends on the quality of oppositions & strategy involved.
I don't know what you watch Kel but there is not one thing that Hleb does better that Rosicky, except foul the oppositon.

it is really difficult to put Rosicky or hleb on the bench.I would say eboue to be on his original position and hleb infront of him. Eboue then can go forward giving additional attacking power. on yesterdays much I saw Every midfielder going to the center leaving the wings empity. especially the left wing was most of the times empty. Ajax players tried to use that vacant position. I say hleb to be on the right and rosicky on the left. As we did it last year. I think if every body is OK last years formation is interesting.

It seems to me Arsene can play both of them in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Hleb on LM and Rosicky as SS, Hleb and Rosicky can alternate. The back 4 isn't too rigid, I know people liked the back 4 that played on saturday, Eboue can alternate from time to time at RB. My feeling however is that Eboue will only play a handful at RB for Arsenal for the rest of his career. His power, pace and skill is wasted at the RB, and next season will play mostly at RM. The problem is that if Arsene plays 4-4-2, Hleb or Rosicky will be sacrificed. Peace.

do you realise we are 2 players short, Wenger doesn't need more encouragement not to spend. Remember the African cup as well, we got no cover on the left plus Hleb gives the ball away all the time
by Wenger on August 05, 2007
i really can't understand why people don't appreciate Hleb does for Arsenal. He is a great player. If you can't see that, I am sorry for you. And remember, he plays for Arsenal! He doesn't need you to get on his back. There are 11 opponents that you can boo instead!

Hleb is our most skill forward. He can keep the ball in very tight area without losing. Rosicky is as skillful as Hleb, but his passes in the final third often let him down. He needs to time well his passes. I still don't fancy Gallas/Kolo patnership despite we didn't concede yesterday. I think it's not working.

i didnt say what formation they arsenal were going to play... i only said the stuff... the formation is up to wenger...
by George on August 05, 2007
I think you cannot play both Rosick and Helb at same time. Both of these players can best play behind last striker in a 4-4-1-1 formation only that in the pre-season, Rosick has not been tested in this role; remember him in Check team. for better joy, play Eboue ahead of Sagna and Clichy ahead of Traore. Find where to put Flamini, he is gonna be deadly this season. Abou is a perfect Viera, he only lacks speed

I just can't see Sasha as a winger; he can surely hold the ball well, but he's not a good crosser and doesn't have blinding pace. He'd be ideal in an inside forward role, like a Derek Tapscott for those of you who remember.

simply rosicky has twice the skill of hleb, only in the 4-4-1-1 situation or with another player injured will they both be able to fit into the same side, Eboue has shown both through his combination with Sagna and his width and skill at RM he was what was missed last season, that means Hleb from the bench, but i agree, im a huge fan of hleb, so look for him to be a great game breaker from the bench

I DONT REALLY THINK WE NEED WINGERS, ROSICKY AND HLEB BOTH PLAYED CENTRAL MIDD FOR PAST CLUBS AND THERE COUNTRYS, EBOURE, CLISHY, TRAORE, H0YTE AND SANGA HAVE THE PACE AND STAMINA TO BOMB UP AND DOWN THE WINGS ALL DAY LONG, WHICH GIVES ROSICKY AND HLEB LICENSE TO GO WHERE THEY WANT WHICH CAUSES MAYHEM TO THE OPPOSITION WHILST OUR FALL BACKS KEEP THE WIDTH. I THINK FINGERS CROSSED ARSENES FIRST CHOICE TEAM CAN GET 10 20 GAMES INJURY FREE FROM THE BEGINING OF THIS SEASON AND THEY WILL REALLY START TO GELL AND SHOW WHAT THEY CAN DO!!!! ARSENE KNOWS
by BRAD on August 05, 2007
ROSICKY DOESNT HAVE TWICE THE SKILL OF HLEB, ROSICKY HAS EXCELLENT CONTROL, A GREAT 1ST TOUCH, GREAT VISION AND GOOD PASSING, HLEB HAS VERY QUICK FEET AND IS VERY UNDERESTERMATED, I THINK WE WILL SEE A DIFFERENT HLEB THIS TERM
oh yeah i forgot... ARSENE KNOWS... lol...

arsene wenger will do wats best like he has been doing since he started so dont worry wenger will sort it out arsenal are the best
yEAH rock on john!!
by Linda15 on August 05, 2007
hleb could be a great left midfielder but rosicky deserves to be in the first eleven. i think wenger could hv eduardo on de left n rosicky on de right, n hleb jst off de striker! i believe dat cn assure arsenal winning tons ov gamez!

where does all this talk leave adebayor? surely he pesters defenders all afternoon and he scores in big games.
