Who'll win the Premiership title? Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, the so-called 'Big Four' have been surprising almost everyone in the transfer window this season.

Tottenham have also been touted as favourites to make it to the top four and overtake Arsenal because of their powerful strike force. It won't be easy for Spurs. Yes, Arsenal have lost their great striker Thierry Henry, but they have bought Eduardo Da Silva, scorer of 34 goals in 32 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb. In total, the Brazilian-born Croatia international has 73 goals in 104 appearances, a goalscoring rate that even Henry would be proud of.

United have spent around £70m on four players, but Sir Alex Ferguson has spent wisely, whilst the Glazers were smart enough to let the manager do all the buying. Carlos Tevez will bolster the United attack, Anderson can play behind the strikers or in central midfield, Nani is capable of playing on both flanks (a  carbon copy of Cristiano Ronaldo),  and Owen Hargreaves will bolster the midfield and take us back to an era when Roy Keane ruled the midfield airwaves.

'I thought Torres would consider going to Arsenal because his best friend Cesc Fabregas is there'

Chelsea have spent little this summer. Tal Ben-Haim, Steve Sidwell and Claudio Pizarro are all free and indeed surprise transfers. The only big-money transfer Mourinho has made is the purchase of left winger Florent Malouda at £8m.  Interestingly, when the Chelsea board buy players, they don't win that much. But if Mourinho buys, they do win. See the pattern?

Liverpool have bought Ryan Babel, Yossi Benayoun, Lucas Leiva, Andriy Voronin and Fernando Torres. I thought Torres would consider going to Arsenal because his best friend Cesc Fabregas is there. But at Anfield of course, there is no shortage of Spaniards, the manager included.

Arsenal have bought Pedro Silva, Da Silva, Lukasz Fabianski and Bacary Sagna. Pedro Silva has been loaned out to Salamanca, while Fabianski is a keeper who will get his chance soon. Pre-season, Sagna has mixed well with Emmanuel Eboue, whilst Eduardo opened his account after getting his work permit. Although I am a die-hard Gooner, it is my greatest regret to say that Manchester United get my vote for the title. They have, in general, stuck with the same squad and aside from Hargreaves, their new signings are very strong.

So it's United first,  Arsenal second, Chelsea third and Liverpool fourth. Arsenal have their maturing youngsters ready for the campaign, Chelsea are not quite ready just yet and Torres needs at least one season to gel with Liverpool's style of play and to adapt to the tough, physical play of the greatest league in the world.
