hearts won't challenge the old firm this year and it shows a slight lack of knowledge about scottish football to ask the question in the first place, that or lazyness. hearts are in free fall and i can't see them doing any better than 5th, or at a push 4th(highly unlikely though). if there is to be a challenge to the old firm this year i can see it coming from hibs or dundee utd. although their chances of splitting the old firm are practicaly 0 they may well provide an entertaining side show in pursuit of 3rd place and a uefa cup spot. an outside bet of joining them this season is motherwell, who look pretty solid under mark magee and if he manages to add a couple of new faces b4 the deadline then i think their chances may well improve dramatically so that's why i'm tipping them and dundee utd to have the most improved results this year.

is half of this article missing or have the heads of scottish football, in their infinate wisdom, reduced the league to 6 teams?

Romanov has done his best to stop our challenge in it's tracks. Why, we'll never know. We will be lucky to get 4th this season never mind challenge the Old Firm! www.thetalkothetoun.com

Talk of free fall is just gibberish. Talk of Hearts challenging the old firm is equally wide of the mark. One thing though, a league where Rangers and celtic take points off each other is invariably a much closer affair and this year that looks a distinct possibility. Hearts will finish 3rd but it won't please me!
