Lets not get ahead or ourselves here. I'm assuming that you watched the game against Fulham. Arsenal were shocking in parts and certainly not much to crow about. Contary to popular opinion, Spurs have a younger average age than the arse, so you could equally say we are in a period of transition by your logic. Also, all the players you listed with the exception of Zakora are not first choice squad players and have bee played due to a glut of injuries along the back line. Spurs didn't win the first 6 games of last season and still only finished 8 points behind the arse, which considering how many games we played in all competitions isn't bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that we weren't shocking last night, but it might be a bit early to start gloating. Lose Gallas, Toure and Fabregas (Lennons out) and it might be a different story.

we have better players but a shit manager. much of a muchness between spurs and arsenal this year in terms of where will end up. chelsea will walk it unfortunatelty.
I like this spurs forum by the way. one of the better ones.
by billy nick on August 16, 2007
not all us spurs fans thought that , i still think we will end up around the 8th or 9th spot, we have no midfield a brilliant front four but whats the point in having guns but no bullets!! a solid defence organised by a clown (hughton), and a manager with no tactical sense or common sense

Don't worry you spuds, you can be top of the league next year, in the championship... for a while, anyway....

I'm an Arsenal fan; and I must say this post is GARBAGE. Tottenham are crap though.
by Holloway Harry on August 16, 2007
We had just about the worst injury crisis then anyone last year so we know what its like to have key players missing. And we still finished well above the Swampies. Thats football, get on with it skipper

I think it will do spurs fans the world of good to get relegated. They might actually win something in the championship and it would bring them back down to earth. You all need to realise that there are only four teams capable of winning the title, and only about 6 teams who could go down. The rest just make up the numbers and spurs have to realise that they are only ever gonna fit in to the last two categories mentioned.

What is the author basing this on? His own thoughts. Where are the quotes to back up this claim of a "Told you so jibe?" The only reference is you trying to say it. I dare you, as I doubt you are brave enough to after two games. I remember Arsenal's start last season which was turned around when injured players returned. The worst thing is, if we finish fifth, which I think we will, and do well in the cups again, it will show we are not going backwards. Under Jol we have moved forward. However, have the invincibles gone forward? Well let's see shall we. After winning the league the alk was of winning the CL, which you haven't. You also haven't won the league since, so you have gone backwards. If Spurs finish fifth again I'll be happy as we are building from the mediocre teams of the late 90s we had to put up with. However, should Arsenal finish fourth and potless again, is that good enough. Is celebrating getting fourt on the last day of the season as you did a couple of seasons ago really good enough for a

In fairness the top 3 centre backs are out injured as are all of the left backs. That would affect any team in the Premiership, just look at the problems Chelsea had last year when just Terry was injured. It's no surprise that all of Everton's goals were coming from their right side, add to this the genius that is Arteta, and we were always going to have problems. The Sunderland result deserved to be no more than nil/nil, and was always going to be a tough first game on Keane's return to the premiership. Robinson is culpable in goal, a great shot stopper from short range but either lacks height or has an inability to read the game as he's extremely vulnerable to long range efforts. However barring the ridiculous injury count, Spurs's main problem is a patent lack of a decent central midfield. I disagree about Zokora, though inconsistent, he does have some good attributes he just needs a good partner in the centre. Carrick was wonderful at creating space for himself and being able to pass a ball perfectl
Carrick was wonderful at creating space for himself and being able to pass a ball perfectly wherever he wanted, straight onto the stronger foot of his team mate. Unfortunately Huddlestone is not quite there yet and Jenas is a joke: He can't pass, tackle or control the ball, which to me are pretty basic requirements for a midfielder. He does get his fair share of goals and I've heard talk that he runs further than any other midfielder but 5 year olds in a school playground can run all day, I'm unsure how that wins you games. It's too early to make claims as to where anyone will finish, the premiership is a particularly odd fish this year. Who knows how Man City, Newcastle, Everton, Portsmouth or West Ham will fair? I can't see how last season's top four will be shaken yet as they all still have the best central midfield pairings of the lot. Any talk of Spurs pushing for Champions League this season were always likely to be over-ambitious. 5th place looks to be our optimum, even the UEFA cup looks difficult w

Yes we celebrated getting fourth on the last day of the season because it meant champions league football for us. If we are talking about celebrating stupid things then how about Spurs celebrating getting a 2-2 draw at home with us in 2004? The same result that saw us crowned champions in your backyard for the second time?!
As fun as it is to make fun of spuds at the moment i really think gooners should realize that spuds is never really our major problem. The real problem is being the best in the top four. Spurs fans are bunch of hopefuls. No point in arguing with them about who has a better first 11. I don't think Arsenal has anything to proof over their north london rivals.. Looking at the 2 matches we've played i must say the team looks shaky mentally and spirit is getting us the results but with a stroke of bad luck, last season's feelings could well creep in once again. we have to brace ourselves for a very challenging campaign. This is done by not making fun of "top four spurs" instead by comparing ourselves to competitors in our big four league.

JOE BAKER YOUR MUM AND SISTER ARE IN A PERIOD OF TRANSITION NOT ARSENAL THEYRE READY TO BLOSSOM.
by DazzaTHFC on August 16, 2007
You Really Talk S**T! What would you know about injurys?? Take out Gallas, Toure, Senderos, Clichy, Eboue, Hleb, Rosicky and Van Persie and Beleive me you would have had exactly the same start! We are without King, Dawson, Kaboul, Beal, Lee, Lennon, K.P.B, and now Berba so dont even try the "everyone gets injurys" jibe. All our players fit We are better then Arsenal simple as that. So dont give me all that "I told you so" B******T!

Hahaha, I love the start of a new season. After enduring a couple of months of all the Spuds going "yeah well this is our season, we're finishing above you coz you lost Henry" and then getting off to the start they have done is priceless. Maybe it'll teach them a lesson for next season (you really think...???). Although I think this article is a bit premature, it is refreshing to see the lack of Spuds posting here. It's also hilarious to see the spuds that are posting are already berating their manager after just 2 games (are these the same spuds that were singing his praises as "one of the best managers in Europe" during pre-season???). And whoever said that the spuds team have a younger average age.... You do know that it's the first team squad we're talking about (you're not allowed to include every squad down to your under 7s, tho maybe you should try playing some of your under 7s haha). I thank you!!!
by pinbot on August 16, 2007
I think that the Spuds should accept that their golden age is over. Two seasons where you finish fifth is all you get. Arsenal are moving on and getting stronger. Newcastle and Man City will finish above you.
by Level Headed Spur on August 16, 2007
If we are written off after two games and no points and potential relegation fodder what does that make ManU? Exactly. These posts are a waste of time. No one knows what will happen until after at least 2/3rds of the season. Losing two games does not mean we will lose everyone. Why dont people with sensible opinions post on here instead of people with petty rivalries. And FYI goonerific, a quick look at both first teams gives Aresenal an average age of roughly 26 and Spurs of roughly 27 (quiet day at work). Hardly a glaring difference and hardly 'young guns'. How may years can you be in transition for?
DAZZA THFC PLEASE DONT MAKEUS LAUGH JUST GET OUT OF HERE. D W*****! STP DREAMIG UL NEVER BE BETTER THAN ASRENAL! U MIGHT ASWEL THROW MARTIN JOL IN YOU FORWARD LINE MAE UL WIN THEN HEHEHEH
