Genoa - Finished third in Serie B last season. They were especially strong at home, collecting 52 of a possible 63 points at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. I feel they will struggle on the road this year against higher-quality opponents. Marco Di Vaio will be looking to re-establish himself and perhaps gain a call-up to the Azzurri. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini did his apprenticeship as a Juventus youth manager before moving to Crotone and then Genoa at the start of last season. His inexperience may turn out to be telling. Prediction: 16th

Inter - Last year's champions have reinforced with Cristian Chivu and David Suazo. However, I think the pressure of being champions might just crack a very fragile morale. Patrick Vieira stated his poor relationship with Marco Materazzi and owner and manager have been at it again this week. Plus there are the continuing problems with Adriano, who may spend much of the season on the bench hung over. I think a pre-Christmas collapse will see them struggle to retain their title. Prediction: 3rd

Juventus - Won their first ever Serie B title last season and will be in the mix to get their 28th Scudetto. There are a lot of questions they will have to answer before the end of the season about their new manager, Claudio Raneri, the new signings and whether the likes of Pavel Nedved and Alex Del Piero can still perform at a high enough level. I think they still need a couple more signings. Prediction: 6th

Lazio - Managed third spot despite a three-point deduction. The Champions League may put a lot of pressure on them if they qualify for the group stage. Delio Rossi has been impressive and I think his guidance will be enough to see them into the top four again. I expect good performances from the forward line and perhaps a few shaky ones from the back. Prediction: 4th

Livorno - 11th spot last season. I don't feel that they have improved a whole lot over the break despite the additions of Diego Tristan and Francesco Tavano up front. I think that they needed to provide Marco Amelia a better defence to work with and that the ball going in the back of their opponents net more often might be offset by more in the back of theirs. Prediction:11th
