I agree completely. Every time MJ has given him a run he's looked frighteningly good and scared the opposition's defenders witless. I do think he needs more time to mature as he can be a little selfish with the ball but if he can skin 3 defenders in the process, then who cares! Come on Martin - its time to unwrap the cotton wool and see what he's made of..!

Yes why not throw him in at the deep end, give those gooners a fright!

Good piece, even as an Arsenal fan i agree Adel should get a starting spot. I would rather it happened after the derby though!

My heading says it all!!

Fabregas? Obviously not, Cesc was given matches in the first-team with Arsenal when he was 16 in the Carling Cup. Now if this guy had anything like the same talent as Fabregas, Steed Malbranque wouldnt be keeping ihm out of the team.
Yes why not throw him in at the deep end, give those gooners a fright!
yes throw him in...and we will throw him out.

I would like to see him given more time on the pitch, but he definitely shouldn't start the north london derby. If you read the report on the reserve game yesterday, you'll see why. He hasn't learnt how to make full use of his undoubted talent yet.

He's far from the finished article but i'm sure arsenal fans will admit Cesc wasn't the finished article when he started playing! Give him a few starts and see what he does....

Although I agree he does look a great talent for the future I think Jol is right in only allowing to have a bit part in matches. He looks a little like a headless chicken at the moment, trying to do everything himself when there are better options. O.K, this is only going to improve which matches but I don't want that to be at the cost of us losing matches for squanding posession needlessly. I think give him a bit longer in each match and he'll come along fine. Fabregas is very much a different type of player.

Wouldnt have recommended it with messrs vieira and petit on the pitch, but i think that our style of play now might allow the young lad to get into the game
by Andrew Drummond on September 04, 2007
apparently he played last night for the reserves and struggled... kept giving the ball away. Do you really think BMJ would start hi8m against Arsenal after a performance like that?
by pappo kangi on September 04, 2007
If i were Martin Jol i would save this young talent for the really important games . By important i mean the 6 pointers against your fellow relegation rivals . :)

How about puting the prince in midfield instead. He has looked class for the reserves from what I have read and would add beef to our ailing midfield maybe

I think that's way too far. Yes, he's promising, but he needs to learn to pass first, and he hasn't played a full 90 of first team football yet either, so throwing him in against one of the best attacking midfields in the country would be suicide Who would you get rid of? Jenas? He's our best tackler. Malbranque? Arguably, but then you have to bear in mind that Lennon's will be back It's an interesting one, but for me it's just way too early
Joe Baker - stick to FM you absolute DONK. You've just proven to everyone that you F'ALL about management. Fool.
Are you an idiot? or should i just take your response as a minor outburst of effluence? Why am an absolute donk? are you five years old by the way? Can someone tell me why giving Adel a starting place would be the end of the world? I am glad that most of the responses have been considered and well thought out. Also is FM a reference to some kind of football simulation game, if so why have you made it?

All I can smell is jizz. He's way too raw. would totally expose the full back.

Cesc is obviously a different type of player, i never said that he wasn't. However Arsenal had the guys to play Fabregas in crucial games in the crucial area of central midfielder, surely it would not bring the earth to a shuddering halt if Adel started a game or two, maybe not the Arsenal game, but sooner rather than later.

His performance on the reserves clearly suggests that he's not ready for a start at Arsenal. However, if we're behind with 20 minutes to go, I think it's a very good idea to bring him into a match to inject some pace.

Spurs are running out of ideas and we are not even 6 games in... I am a season ticket holder and getting very frustrated that we can't pass and move, even though we have the talent to do so. I would honestly bring on Taarabt and Boateng. Both of them are hungry and we need that enthusiasm. With Dawson and Kaboul at the back, we'll be stronger. Just need more influence from Berbs like last season and for Bent to get some goals! £16,000,000 plus...!!! Come on Benty!
by Unattractive Man on September 04, 2007
Another desperate Spurs post, I guess when you are that close to the bottom of the table it feels like there is nothing to loose. Well that is apart from draining all self confidence out of young Taraabt once Cesc is finished with him. At worst it could be a big setback to his career, at best it would make him want to play for Arsenal.

"Yes why not throw him in at the deep end, give those gooners a fright!" typical tiny totts talk. bragging and mouthing all day long, but no end products.
by Enigma on September 04, 2007
Taarabt has shown great potential but he has a tendency to over do it. I read a report of the recent reserves match and he seemed to lose the ball and didn't bother to try and win it back. He needs to develop a greater work ethic and to learn when to pass the ball. I agree that he should get more playing time but whether he should start more games is still up for debate.
