England Keeper?? You forgot to mention Rob Green....may be a little bias but they guy has been amazing. Had a great run towards the end of last season and has been superb in our first few games. This James is the only English Keeper to be in similar form, Robinson should be dropped.

Jol should be replaced in January. He is simply not good enough. However, the Board knew this and should have sorted the problem before the season started. My advice for all it's worth, is to get Clive Allen in as assistant coach now with a view to him taking over in January.Subbing Keano for Defoe was the last straw.

Im a Spurs fan and I agree with you Rob, Robinson has been shite for us as well as England and needs to be dropped from both. Think that Green or James would do a better bet at the moment. I see that idiot Redknapp reckons Heskey has the potential to be as good as Drogba in his column in one of the tabloids this morning!! What do these idiot ex average football players get paid for exactly?

So you would have an untested manager running the team would you, i like clive allen but he is no where near able to run Spurs. Lay off and get on and support Martin Jol and the team. COYS

Simple as that. There must be at least a dozen striker who should be ahead of him in the England pecking order

We may like a person and yet recognise that he is not the person we need for a particular job. Are the faithfuls really behind Spurs' current coaching team? Martin Jol and his team have done much but not enough to make Spurs a top club. When points are repeatedly lost, we cannot blame the players or bad luck. We have ourselves to blame. We need a new coaching team like the one at Arsenal. Boys are transformed into men. The ordinary are changed into winners. Arsenal the enemy got it right some time ago. Spurs need to recognise that and begin to build with the current players.

The problem is not Heskey, to me he is a decent player, look at his form for wigan latley, any way my point is that they are looking for a player to compliment the over rated has been that is Owen, if they played Bent, Defoe, Johnson anybody else but Owen then Heskey wouldnt have been picked, but to get the best out of the has been king - Owen i think Mclaren is right to pick hesky, he knows his game inside out, hesky is powerful, can hold the play up, not to bad in the AIR BUT CAN GET THE FLICK ON's people have to relise that pickin Heskey is tactical and simply for the benefit of The Great HAs been OWEN.

I feel sorry for robbo many harsh critics - he has made some mistakes (for club and country) but harsh to drop him after Gary Neville played the worst back pass known to man which had a bobble and a dodgy mis-hit cross from the greman guy the other week. He is by far and away the most established english keeper at present. James awful - dont bother his OCD makes him a liability, Rob Green - average. Carson is the future but at 22 is he really ready to play every game for england. For spurs robbo has had an awful defence (unless ledley plays - which lets face it aint often) and this would effect any keeper - Buffon, Cech included. Englands Number one!!!!!

Yay! sack the Mac and appoint Jol - seriously! look where he has taken spurs, his footy nouse is very good, he coaches players well (ok, defoe,....) and is popular with ya grassroots! FA needs to bag spurs mistake. BTW very funny/good article.
I thought I was being generous by giving him until January. Jol's a nice bloke and I don't think it is in the club's best interest to sack him as everyone knows this will only create more stability. But, he's not going to take us higher than 5th in the league. No brownie points for coming 5th and yes, there has been progress but given the investment in players over the last 3 years, not enough. Clive Allen won the premiership with the reserves and knows what he's doing. More importantly, he can work within the current structure which is a challenge for any manager.
'Feeling sorry for Robbo'. Feel sorry for the numerous fans who have to put up with his flapping that costs us season after season. 'Robbo's the most popular keeper on goal of the season' ever wondered why, or are they just all stunning goals. loser mentality just like Robbo.

Yes, please sack Jol, do it when the January window opens too, perfect timing. Sure, Clive Allen, why not, hell, his record is second to none. Defoe is pure class, he's not one of those who flatters to deceive is he? It's all Jol's fault. I am sure if Spurs spent a season in La Liga or Serie A or the Bundeslige they'd finish...er.... Thanks Spurs. Permit me to load the revolver?
I deny any association with the prawn-fried muppets from Salford. I'm going to be sick.

As much as i dislike the man i will more than happy to see him sign a lifetime contract at spurs. making sure they continue to be very average and unbalanced. KEEP JOL ON. KEEP SPURS SHIT
by Dr Mushtaqur Rahman on September 04, 2007
I see the usual lick-arses for the Spurs board are here. You must have about two brain cells to rub together. The ManU fan was right: get rid of Jol and I might actually enjoy watching the egg run off your faces as we end up bottom of the league. Pondlife!
by Tariq on September 05, 2007
I feel a bit sorry for Robbo. Dont you think all this flak is a bit unfounded? Spurs conceded 54 goals in the premiership last season and only 8 so far this year....together with his great performances for England how can you not argue he's world class.
by City Slicker on September 05, 2007
Where was your mention of Joe Hart.He will be better than all the others you mentioned and at 20 years old has time on his side. As for "Jol out" its only mindless muppets (stand up manyoo fans) who expect immediate success.By the way a second derby win for City in as many weeks. Easy, easy.

Critisize Jol for making a change Defoe/Keane. Defoe has had plenty of chances to prove his worth as has Keane, only Keane (who at times irritates the life out of me), does contribute more for the team when all is said and done. Defoe is either brilliant or anonymous, and IMO better coming on than starting. Hughton's position is where I feel Jol should be looking closer at, what exactly does he do? I'm afraid that if BMJ doesnt get outside help and soon,he's a gonna!, which will be a sad day, but inevitable given the defensive performances this season so far.
by Graham Duncan on September 05, 2007
If it is obvious to all that Spurs defensive frailities needed resolving then Jol should be under no illusions either that his neck was 'on the block' if he didn't succeed . For him to then play the replacement left back, Bale , in midfield was folly. Younes needs more Premiership experience but has got to be better than Gardner regardless. I agree with Al Engelen that the coaching staff have to take responsibility after all. Defensively they have been naive. Jol is ultimately responsible but it would be a shame if Hughton has to go after such a long and distinguished service. I have lost count of the Managers who he has served under!

Mc Claren Should go. His judgement is impaired selecting Emile Heskey. Let Harry Redknapp have the job and if we do fail to qualify at least we will all enjoy the interviews with HR.He has proven to be a great manager getting the best out of second rate players. Well the press and the FA keep telling us that we are short of top class players due to foreign imports so HR is the right man for the job.

"sooner or later he will get the message that the White Hart Lane faithful may not be happy, but they are still very much behind their talismanic coach." Rubbish. Stop talking for other people mate
