Some nice Arsenal stories in the media have popped out for closer inspection by yours truly.

I am sure that all Arsenal fans would love to see Manchester City and England defender Micah Richards pulling on the Red Gunner jersey. Well, the shock news is that he already has done so, many many times over!

The teenager with the world at his feet may have just signed a lucrative contract to remain at Eastlands, but deep down he’s a Gooner and he was Arsenal-mad as a kid (tribalfootball.com). Talking of his love of the North London side he said: "When I was young I supported Arsenal, and Vieira was one of my favourites." City fans may want to look away when they read the next statement: “Roy Keane was also one of my favourite players.”
And he went on: "Vieira was all over the pitch and Keane had his great leadership skills as well. They were great box-to-box players and I would wear the Vieira shirt on the streets when I was young.”

Who knows in years to come he may end up at the Emirates, but right now it's the long suffering Blue half of Manchester that gets to applaud the umpteenth quality interception.

The latest in a long line of possible Arsene Wenger signings comes in the shape of 23-year-old Roma and Italy central midfielder Alberto Aquilani (arsenalnews.net). The versatile and creative long distance strike expert was said to be interesting Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea also.

His agent, Franco Zavaglia, admits the youngster is flattered by interest and was reported as saying: "Of course, to be watched by Barcelona, Valencia, Chelsea and Arsenal does appeal to him. But Aquilani has not ever had doubts on his future. Ever since he was a child, he has wanted only Roma." Now that is odd, an agent that does not appear to be attempting to broker a transfer for his client. Unless he is, of course, just trying to broker a higher salary instead. I don’t think we've heard the last of this one.

Arsenal’s Tomas Rosicky has revealed a wager he has made with his teammates (various). "We have talked about scoring goals in midfield - me, Cesc and Alex Hleb," said Rosicky. "We talked about preparing a bet between us.”

I would suggest that the Spaniard, having already scored four goals in all competitions, has made a clever bet with his fellow midfielders. Good to see the Czech Republic star is having a good start to the season after a distinctly average first term at the Emirates.

Should be interesting the next time any of these three want to take a penalty. Could be one almighty punch-up.
