Martin Jol's career at Tottenham Hotspur has been threatened ever more by the news that World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi has been offered a managerial placement at White Hart Lane.
Following several tactical blunders in the opening few games of the season, Jol's job has come under fire from Damien Comolli and Daniel Levy within the Spurs hierarchy. Lippi is not the only man tipped to replace Jol, with Juande Ramos of Sevilla and Fabio Capello still in with a shout.
The current Tottenham boss has apparently been told by the board that should he fail to win against bitter rivals Arsenal this Saturday, then the fans can expect to see a new face at White Hart Lane in the next fortnight or so.
Lippi's record is astonishing and possibly what Spurs need to progress as a top-flight club. Don't get me wrong, Jol has done exceptionally well in leading us to two of our most successive seasons in 20 years. But I agree with Levy's belief that Jol does not have the tactical flair when facing other top-flight clubs. The 3-3 draw against Fulham is a perfect example of critical mistakes made on the sidelines.
Levy is also reportedly ready to sell Spurs for a cash sum of £250m. It has been claimed that he is attempting to attract a range of foreign suitors with Premier League buy-out ambitions. The attempt to replace the manager has surfaced in order to make the club a more attractive proposal - as if it is not already!
The only problem with a buy-out is that Spurs will possibly end up with a blunt American with no clue about the game of 'soccer' and just in it for personal gain. Thus we may end up with a situation such as the likes of Manchester United and the Glazer family or other such consortia. Such news of a buy-out may not go down well with the Spurs faithful.

Perhaps you ought to read what your master Levy has written about the Lippi situation in the Daily Mail. By the way, I think that the DL and Evening Standard are both from the same stable. Does this piece represent your stab at invetigative journalism? Pathetic. And what great insight leads you to believe that Jol has take the team as far as he can?

How do you know that Jol has been told he will be on his way if he loses to woolwich on Sat? Is this pure speculation?
by timmy on the jimmy on September 11, 2007
Levy has already stated today to which the Daily Mail have issued a response apologising that LIPPI hasn't been offered anything

Look, I have always been a fan of the big man, what he has done since he came in has been great for the club, but myself and alot of my spurs pals were all left shaking our heads at the fact we walked away from last season without any silverware, and we all have to agree that in those big games when we had a chance, jol lost the plot with some of his tactical decisions. you may disagree, but I watched the game against Fulham, and I blame his tactics for what happened in the last 20 mins. Bring in Lippi, a winner at every level, someone who knows how to keep a CLEAN SHEET!

Not based on fact... I smell an Arsenal fan... Think MJ will be safe after Saturday and the ass-whoopin' we're going to unleash...

I for one would b all for the appointment of lippi.. as said in the article his record is phenominal and i think that he would posses the tactical capabilities to change games for the better and also to get the best out of the talent that we have at white hart lane!! As for the takeover talk im split on that one a a takeover could mean a new stadium being swifly underway but im not to sure

If you consider sportingo to be journalism then you are an absolute retard. This site is just full of imbeciles who have nothing better to do with their time than post their inane views which clearly have no basis in fact or reality.

We at Arsenal dont really care whether there's fire at White HeartLane or not, we intend to demolish our opponents as they come along and accumulate much needed points. GUNNERS ALL THE WAY TO VICTORY OVER SPURS

Why are Spurs fans so paranoid? What makes them think that any Arsenal fan has the slightest interest in planting such a story. Haven't you got it yet: you're not important enough to do that!
by Anti-Durkin on September 11, 2007
"The current Tottenham boss has apparently been told by the board" - you're factually incorrect and as a Spurs fan you should be ashamed of yourself! People like you really do piss me off...I suggest you look for a new job as you are SH1TE at the one you currently occupy!

This piece was written by a Spurt and it's being attacked by the other little Spurts. Do you not think that, in light of what's happening this saturday, you should all be friends together. Christ knows you're gonna need each other's shoulders to cry on!!! You're all even sounding like you think you're gonna win this weekend? You all realise that you're playing our first 11, don't you? Tho even our kids like to show you all up. And as for Big Fat-Man Jol??? I hear it's nice in Holland this time of year!!!

Frankly speaking, I dont think we can beat Arsenal this Saturday. BMJ has done his best to bring SPURS to this far. We need to move on from here to bring in top manager in order to challenge the top honours.
