Martin Jol's career at Tottenham Hotspur has been threatened ever more by the news that World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi has been offered a managerial placement at White Hart Lane.
Following several tactical blunders in the opening few games of the season, Jol's job has come under fire from Damien Comolli and Daniel Levy within the Spurs hierarchy. Lippi is not the only man tipped to replace Jol, with Juande Ramos of Sevilla and Fabio Capello still in with a shout.
The current Tottenham boss has apparently been told by the board that should he fail to win against bitter rivals Arsenal this Saturday, then the fans can expect to see a new face at White Hart Lane in the next fortnight or so.
Lippi's record is astonishing and possibly what Spurs need to progress as a top-flight club. Don't get me wrong, Jol has done exceptionally well in leading us to two of our most successive seasons in 20 years. But I agree with Levy's belief that Jol does not have the tactical flair when facing other top-flight clubs. The 3-3 draw against Fulham is a perfect example of critical mistakes made on the sidelines.
Levy is also reportedly ready to sell Spurs for a cash sum of £250m. It has been claimed that he is attempting to attract a range of foreign suitors with Premier League buy-out ambitions. The attempt to replace the manager has surfaced in order to make the club a more attractive proposal - as if it is not already!
The only problem with a buy-out is that Spurs will possibly end up with a blunt American with no clue about the game of 'soccer' and just in it for personal gain. Thus we may end up with a situation such as the likes of Manchester United and the Glazer family or other such consortia. Such news of a buy-out may not go down well with the Spurs faithful.

Perhaps you ought to read what your master Levy has written about the Lippi situation in the Daily Mail. By the way, I think that the DL and Evening Standard are both from the same stable. Does this piece represent your stab at invetigative journalism? Pathetic. And what great insight leads you to believe that Jol has take the team as far as he can?
by shelf16 on September 11, 2007
How do you know that Jol has been told he will be on his way if he loses to woolwich on Sat? Is this pure speculation?
by timmy on the jimmy on September 11, 2007
Levy has already stated today to which the Daily Mail have issued a response apologising that LIPPI hasn't been offered anything
by Terry on September 11, 2007
Look, I have always been a fan of the big man, what he has done since he came in has been great for the club, but myself and alot of my spurs pals were all left shaking our heads at the fact we walked away from last season without any silverware, and we all have to agree that in those big games when we had a chance, jol lost the plot with some of his tactical decisions. you may disagree, but I watched the game against Fulham, and I blame his tactics for what happened in the last 20 mins. Bring in Lippi, a winner at every level, someone who knows how to keep a CLEAN SHEET!

Not based on fact... I smell an Arsenal fan... Think MJ will be safe after Saturday and the ass-whoopin' we're going to unleash...
by Shelf Side on September 11, 2007
I for one would b all for the appointment of lippi.. as said in the article his record is phenominal and i think that he would posses the tactical capabilities to change games for the better and also to get the best out of the talent that we have at white hart lane!! As for the takeover talk im split on that one a a takeover could mean a new stadium being swifly underway but im not to sure

If you consider sportingo to be journalism then you are an absolute retard. This site is just full of imbeciles who have nothing better to do with their time than post their inane views which clearly have no basis in fact or reality.

We at Arsenal dont really care whether there's fire at White HeartLane or not, we intend to demolish our opponents as they come along and accumulate much needed points. GUNNERS ALL THE WAY TO VICTORY OVER SPURS

Why are Spurs fans so paranoid? What makes them think that any Arsenal fan has the slightest interest in planting such a story. Haven't you got it yet: you're not important enough to do that!
by Anti-Durkin on September 11, 2007
"The current Tottenham boss has apparently been told by the board" - you're factually incorrect and as a Spurs fan you should be ashamed of yourself! People like you really do piss me off...I suggest you look for a new job as you are SH1TE at the one you currently occupy!

You're having a laugh! I can't wait until Saturday. COYS!!!!!!!!
By the way: I do not condone language as it is used by fellow Gooner Post 1961. Gooners, we should stand high above that!
Oh and another thing. The Daily Mail has issued an apology concerning the rumors about Lippi and Spurs so all that crap you put on this is just that. This site and that Tribal Football should taken off the web asap. And to all scum fans,YOUR GONNA GET IT WHOLESALE AT THE LANE.MAKE NO MISTAKE.

by Scoch on September 11, 2007
This piece was written by a Spurt and it's being attacked by the other little Spurts. Do you not think that, in light of what's happening this saturday, you should all be friends together. Christ knows you're gonna need each other's shoulders to cry on!!! You're all even sounding like you think you're gonna win this weekend? You all realise that you're playing our first 11, don't you? Tho even our kids like to show you all up. And as for Big Fat-Man Jol??? I hear it's nice in Holland this time of year!!!

Frankly speaking, I dont think we can beat Arsenal this Saturday. BMJ has done his best to bring SPURS to this far. We need to move on from here to bring in top manager in order to challenge the top honours.

I'm sure I'll be fine though as I'm a fully grown man and Spuds tend to only attack women and children wearing scarves. I predict 3-1 without getting out of 3rd gear. I also predict a bunch of bed wetting 14 year olds will have a go on our way out.

I love the way the goons come on here and act all high and mighty with their "superior" intellegence and whitty insults... Do you think choosing to support a team that mostly wins (like the london man U fans) makes you a better person? Work it out.... And you've all as bad as each other
by Van the Man on September 11, 2007
If Spurs get rid of Jol you will be back to square one again, Just like last time you sacked one of your many managers in the Prem. i think Levy should give Jol some time. Even though you Jol didnt buy very well in pre season (Needed more midfielders) i think the young talent that you buy are class, ie. Bale, Bent and lennon. those that have been mentioned plus Berb..... the only way is up. But i still hope we give a pasting on Sat. COME ON YOU MIGHTY GUNNERS!!!!
by Rolling eyes on September 11, 2007
'you only attack women and children....'... Anyone know somewhere I can talk about football without these sort of pathetic comments? Fully grown or not you really should get an education.

Even though Bent Is Quality, i dont think you needed him. With Defoe, Keane and the Berb, Each player can score 20 . But in my opinion (And thats all it is right?) I dont rate your midfield at all. With Lennon being the only Midfielder thats world class. I believe thats where your problem lies.

MJ has been in charge of spurs for two 1/2 seasons .... which has involved he complete overhauling of our club, players back room & more ..... other than king, keen, defoe & gardner no player has been with us for longer than two.... and the average age of the new talent is some where between the teen years & 24 ....... unlike the arse kids who have been a part of their set up from the academy ........ we are a long way from being the finished article & its about time a % of our young fans relized it . We have the talent & the structure to sustain a challenge to the top teams for years to come, but it isnt going to happen righ now just becuase we want it to ! MJ is doing a great job ....... and tell me which manager would not put on his 3rd striker when wining 3-1 with 20 minutes to go ...... its the kids who Fcuked up against fulham not the managment ! 40 years a Spurs fan & this is easily the best football we have played in 20 years ...... a little luck and with King available over the last year & i have

I do not have a crystal ball and do not know the result of this match. However there are certain things that must be taken into consideration.Firstly, spurs are back at full strength. The pre-season results were encourageing and The Arsenal are not the team they were inspite of results this season.I see no reason that we should not atleast draw this match. Of course it may seem that the opposition will be playing with 12 men,if you consider the amount of harm Levy and company have done to the team.

In case you hadnt noticed, the majority of Spurs fans voiced their feelings and were answered in the affirmative regarding Jol.The rest of headlines are redtops trying get a story when the patently isnt one. We stand united in support of our manager and the feeling if you read his recent comments are mutual.I hope the the more intellegent among you realize this. It was Chelsea last season, our this.perhaps they would be better off looking into Arsenals boardroom cock-ups to get a real story, or maybe their using us to smokescreen it?

Strange what some people seem to think passes as humour. It's embarrassing that it comes from someone claiming to be a Gooner. Yes, I do find some spurs fans' comments about wenger in very poor taste, but that's hardly an excuse to sink to the same level. We're notoriously poor after an international break, so I think this'll be a very close game.

I bought a player when I was manager at Monaco, it was Glenn Hoddle, he showed me how football should be played, when I became manager of Arsenal I remember that there were thousands of excitement deprived pikeys in North London desperate to see good football, so I showed them the 'Hoddle' way of how it should be played, the player I used was Dennis Bergkamp, he knew how I wanted the game played, well he would because he's a Spurs suppoter, but the Arsenal fans still think it was my way, but it was really the Tottennham way

Martin Jol may not have demonstrated the best nouse when it comes to squad formation and substitutions in the past but I for one believe that he is by far the best coach we've had for many a long year. Saturday will be a stern test for us mainly due to our dodgy start to this season not due to the opposition in any way. The arse are far from the team of recent years and Blackburn proved this recently. The bummers have a soft underbelly right through the squad and if you get at them they just don't like it, this usually prompts Whinger to ask for more protection!! What does he want?? a non contact game like netball. Despite all the rubbish being spouted at Big MJ from all quarters he has remained calm throughout, not bleeting on about unfairness etc etc like that freak that manages that new library down the road from the hallowed WHL. Was down the Lane today, picking up 2 extra tickets for the game at the weekend.I spent a lot of time here for business as well as matchdays.I just sat for a moment in my seats area gazing out onto the turf, lost for a moment in the eerie quietness and felt how far removed this was from the madness that will be 1:30 on Saturday afternoon.I know this place well boy and man for 25 years, seen it all in that time, good memories as well as the bad. , as a loyal fan you have to have broad shoulders. As I got up to leave a friend who works at the club came over and sat with me. I was lost in thoughts of Great days here."I can't wait for saturday" I said to him, he smiles and nodded. and as I walked away from my seats and from this wonderful stadium I thought "We can do this, we're taken all the stick over the years, but we can really do this". I got into my car and as I drove out of the main entrance I smiled WITH REAL BELIEF and thought" I just can't wait UNTIL SATURDAY COMES...COME ON BMJ

You should be ashamed of yourself and by the way we are gonna stuff your beloved arse on saturday. Hope that gives you another thing to get angry about. Why don't you just slash your wrists and decompose somewhere so that atleast you will eventually become usefull to society....as COMPOST!!!

Its comments like these that make arsenal and chelsea the most hated team in the league.

I don't know about the other Arsenal fans but I don't really care about Spurs anymore. They're no longer good enough to be classed as rivals it's just tradition. I know I look for Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpools scores before I look at theirs. The fact that at the start of the season Wengers aim was to challenge for the premiership and the Champions League whilst Jol's aim was to get in the top four.

ha ha ha... Love it! Seems like we have a few of the political correctness police in today... If you honestly think, I’m laughing at the holocaust, then that shows just how fucking thick, you lot, really are! You call yourselves yids, when 90% of you are white or black, English! If you call yourselves a "racist" term for a Jewish person, expect some yid songs lobbed at you! You want the songs to stop, STOP CALLING YOURSELVES YIDS, YOU STUPID FUCKING MUGS! I just can’t believe the hypocrisy, in this day in age… when people can say 1 thing like, “Wenger is a pedo… I’m going to stab you down the lane… your gonna get your heads kicked in… your team in nothing but French black wankers…” YET I SING A FEW SONGS, DIRECTED AT WINDING SPURS FANS UP (NOT JEWS) AND EVERYONE HAS A GO AT ME… But it’s cool! I love it! All it does is get me more pumped up, to demoralize the yids on Saturday, in our 2nd home (2 league titles there? Come on spurs! Keep up)! Over n’ out, bitches! UP THE ARSE…

You Stupid Mother Fucker the chances of your bunch of retards winning 3-1 against the mighty gooners are about as high as the number of drugs you must be taking to be able to comprehend such result or was it just a dislexick fuck up and you actually ment three Nil to the Arsenal. Wake up from your dream Scum and smell the shit that is comming out your mouth!
by Roy on September 12, 2007
What kind of logic says that because we call ourselves Yids, it's fair to use the worst kind of moronic, racist abuse imaginable? You are a spastic. (Sorry cripples..)
Dislexick... Ha ha ha... How fucking typical.

this weekends derby is going to be a great game for both a mutual and a spurs / gunners fan. Jol & Wenger are both GREAT managers and to see such great tacticians go head to head is something i can't wait to watch. in my opinion its going to be a high scoring draw. I cant wait

That Danny whateverhisname is, David Dein and a few others on YOUR board of ex-and current directors should also be rounded up and gassed, in Diens case I would have thought shot at dawn would be more fitting, traitors normally are, but then again thats probably over your little shrunken head?
