You have to go back through the record books to 1997 to find the last time Spurs beat their great north London rivals, Arsenal. That was when Tim Sherwood and Stefan Iversen scofred the goals in a 2-0 win.

Spurs fans can be forgiven for expecting more from their team, this season, but the result at White Hart Lane was again disappointing, with Tottenham conceding three goals in a spell of 20 minutes or so at the end of the game.

As a die-hard Spurs fan I just want to know whether this is because of a lack of player passion or possibly yet another managerial blunder by Martin Jol. I feel that, despite all of the rumours about the Dutchman, it is time for him to move elsewhere.

'Jol simply does not have the tactical knowledge to out-manouvre top clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United and several others'

The same thing happened in the Carling Cup not too long ago when Spurs threw away a possible victory against Arsenal in the first leg, only to lose in the secong leg. If the rumours about Marcello Lippi taking over at Spurs are true then I would quite happily welcome him to the club, as it does not take a fool to see how badly the club are doing under Martin Jol right now.

Jol simply does not have the tactical knowledge to out-manouvre top clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United and several others. Daniel Levy will soon have to make a decision as to whether Jol is the right person to take Tottenham Hotspur forward towards a much-heralded Champions League place, which at present looks vey unlikely to happen due to our less than mediocre start.

Simply by looking at the players you can see a lack of passion. Most of them look very dismal and unhappy at the set-up of the team. At one stage during the game at White Hart Lane, the Sky Sports commentator suggested that Dimitar Berbatov was 'lacking passion and commitment" up front. Now what is the reason for this on our biggest game of the new season?

Things need to be sorted out fast, or we will only be trailing in the wake of our neighbours, Arsenal, in the future. One solution, bring in Marcello Lippi and sack Martin Jol. Sorry but it's for the greater good!
