The way Tottenham were put to the sword with such frightening abandon by the wave upon wave of attacking prowess unleashed by Arsenal was frankly almost embarrassing. It seemed that there was so little that Martin Jol's side could do about the style and swagger of the Arsenal machine at full throttle. In fact, in some ways it even looked as though the Gunners were simply toying with their rivals before going through the gears and annihilating them.

That is not to say that Dimitar Berbatov, Darren Bent and indeed Robbie Keane didn't all have wonderful chances to score. But Arsenal also made plenty of chances, playing keep-ball on the edge of the box, stringing passes together before attempting a shot on target and trying to score the 'perfect' goal, which they managed twice.

Now surely it is time for Jol to unleash his trump card, Adel Taarabt - a player much talked about, but now surely itching to compete. Arsene Wenger has given a shot to his young guns and let's face it, they haven't let him down.

'The 18-year-old creative winger/midfielder could be the player that will help keep the vultures of the Dutchman's back'

The 18-year-old creative winger/midfielder could be the player that will help keep the vultures of the Dutchman's back. There are a run of more 'must win' matches on the horizon, including tricky trips to Bolton, Liverpool and Newcastle as well as a visit from in form Aston Villa. Now that Aaron Lennon is on the mend Jol will have an added injection of creativity to fuel his misfiring forwards with the inclusion of Taarabt. Hopefully, a thrashing of Cypriot side Famagusta will give his side the morale boost it needs to get their season back into gear.

It's still early days and even though the White Hart Lane faithful had to be more than optimistic to see their dream of a first derby win since 1999, I am sure that come May the Premier League table will be far more pleasing on the eye than their current 17th position.

What they need above all else is a manager who isn't afraid to push players like Taarabt in at the deep end. The club motto says it all: 'Audere est Facere' (to dare is to do).

Could Taarabt revive Spurs? Post a comment below or submit an article to Sportingo.
