Jose Mourinho's departure from Chelsea will probably have come as a major shock to football worldwide. The Blues really seemed to be going places this season after some important signings in the transfer window - among them former Lyon player Florent Malouda and Claudio Pizarro.

If Chelsea are to beat Manchester United to yet another Premier League title, then in many people's view this would be the season for it. However, as a Spurs fan, I am going to change the plot ever so slightly here for one moment.

To some Tottenham fans, there may be a tiny chink of light at the end of this tunnel. I don't want to sound like Steve McQueen in The Great Escape, but with Martin Jol's job under threat, maybe Spurs should confront Mourinho with a possible job offer.

'If ''revenge'' is what Mourinho is after, he may well get that at Spurs with the support of Daniel Levy and Damien Comolli at the helm'

The rivalry between Tottenham and Chelsea goes way back and if 'revenge' is what Mourinho is after, he may well get that at Spurs with the support of Daniel Levy and Damien Comolli at the helm. Tottenham fans appear to have factioned in recent weeks after the speculation about Martin Jol leaving the club. Some are for his departure and some are against it.

Jol does not possess the tactical knowledge to beat top-class teams - I've watched Tottenham in the hope that they may pull of a win against Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United or Liverpool, then seen them fail miserably in the dying minutes. We look like a side with no pride and no passion to win - our team looks lousy, as does our manager. After being given £40million-plus to spend in the transfer window, you would expect as a fan to see some desire to prove to the fans worldwide that Tottenham are a team to be reckoned with.

To conclude, I would like all of you Tottenham fans out there to think about having someone like Juande Ramos, Marcello Lippi or Fabio Capello at the Spurs helm. You only have to look at their lifetime records to see that any of them would be suitable to take over from Jol. However, I suggest that Spurs officials stop giving the Dutchman a hard time and show him the exit door with his pride still intact.

Most of us had massive amounts of faith in our team, yet our manager and staff have nothing to show for it. I suggest that the Spurs staff sort something out before our heads hang so low that we are kissing Arsene Wenger's backside!
