I think Avram grant is would just be a sucker to Abrahamovich. i do not expect much at all from him. the premiership, the champions league are just too much beyond him. a man can talk as much as he likes and would seem like sense especially if he is eloquent. The issue is there are talkers, planners and doers... he has not done anything b4.. if his achievement was almost getting israel to qualify for the world cup then i think we are in some deep shit.

"War and Peace" has nowt on this novel. Grant; what has he achieved in club football? What's his european success? Chelsea will be taking a step back with this bloke. Personally I don't believe Chelsea will nose dive as they have a full squad of quality players. I do not think these players will perform, or want to perform as well as they did under Mourinho. I think a lot of these lucky one-nil wins they've been used to will dwindle. I think a number of the squad will want to follow JM out the door! The Mancs will now be in with a chance of three points this weekend. Chelsea will remain a great side.

give the guy a chance, chelsea would not have a thing without abramovitch, so respect his decisions

I am 49 years old and have been a Chelsea fan all my life. There were times when I used to think that Chelsea would never win the league in my lifetime. Enter Mourinho and my dream comes true....twice!! We even start talking about being European Champions and the world's number 1 club by 2014. I believed all this was possible with the "Special One" at the helm. With Grant.....3014 is more of a realistic target. What is Chelsea's management thinking!!
by Unattractive Man on September 20, 2007
Why the f*ck did I just read all that crap? Everyone knows that all Abramovich wants is a puppet manager to suck his balls while he chooses the Chelsea team. Unless they get a real manager, Chelsea are going to fail miserably.
by Dez on September 20, 2007
I a, laughing in my beer. Grant is a total moron and the average English fan knows more than he does about the game. This is great news for United fans -- this rubbish club is about to nosedive with a total non-entity at the helm. As for Abramovich -- he is a complete fool to trade Jose for this twerp.

wow, u know they say what goes aroud comes around. i say this becuas we all remmeber what happend to raneria, mourinho didnt care ooh how the tables have turned.
by micha on September 21, 2007
Give him a chance. just look what he did when he was the manager of israeli national team. he know what he is doing.
by grant on September 21, 2007
Tacticly, the fella is a genious - theres no taking that away from him. 'arry didnt like him at first, but came to apreciate his ideas. He may not have managed at club level much, but he has the wits to take on the big boys, and the skill to take on the teams. Its only whether he can build chelski up mentally that is in question.
by Adam on September 21, 2007
what are u doing here? and for all chelsea fans, and to this one who said he waited all his life for chelsea become champs: its not mourinho who brought u this champions, and succsess...its only abramovich, and in other words- his money. so, instead of you, i will accept all decison the boss make, even its inculding avrham grant. be positive, he has really big ass.
by codi on September 25, 2007
mourinho is ok but grant is not ok
by moshe on September 27, 2007
grant is a very good coach, with the little decent team of israel he didnt lose to irland france switherland not at home and not out, he knows the game for sure better than each one of you chelses funs, you have luck to get this great coach

I remember when the English believed in fair play and giving somebody a chance to prove themselves. The English press is both rude and hysterical. Football is a game and not a war. Abramovich is not a fool.If he fails then criticize. Some of the fans believe than they made Chelsea champions. They did not.

avarm will shut all of your snobbish brittish mouths. you are not the only ones who know football

I'm a Chelsea fan & obviously disappointed at 'The Special One''s exit. But lets give Mr.Avram Grant time & see. After all,he's no layman who has no experience bout football.

JOSE MOURINHO's CHELSEA was not a frail team. GRANT will ride the inertia from JOSE'a team but CFC will run out of wind before the cruellest month. CHELSEA will not win a single trophy the season 2007/08. ROMAN and KENYON will declare that the objective has been achieved --- and start buying players at insane prices.

Avram, think he is good. Just wait 4 end if season. To that 4kd up dirty man.u fan, mark my words, we would suprise you.

I am a Chelsea fan and I Think Roman Abramovich has made a MASSIVE mistake letting Mourinho walk. I think its Henk Ten Cate and Steve Clarke that are chosing players form their squad...not Grant. Now Mourinho's gone Chelsea are most likely to finish 3rd or 4th in the premier league if Grant remains as manager. Abramovich has already asked Frank Rijkaard to coach Chelsea for the 2008-09 season Bring in Young talented players and Rijkaard!! Or bring back Mourinho!!!!

On the one hand, Grant is a shrewd man who knows which side of the bread the butter is on, and through charm, fascination, manipulation and exquisite verbal ability and manouevring, befriends the right people at the right time – be they journalists, clerks, bosses or tycoons. In this way, he paves his way to the top despite being a mediocre professional at best. You said, only by befriending the right people could he ever manage her team like Chelsea, and using the same words as in the article "he paves his way to the top despite being a mediocre professional at best". Now he claims that Chelsea doesn't play the "long ball" like before LOL. It is not "what you know is WHO you know". In my opinion the man is a fake, and I think he is behind the disposal of Jose Mourinho, he was only waiting, like a snake, to strike and the match against Rosenberg was the final straw. He may even convince Abranovitch to bring a top manager to work under him (AG) so he can claim that is his own decisions, so far he man
....he managed ten Cate . This is my opinion about footbal only not about his persona.

Avram is doing a great job, especially with all those injuries, media pressure and w00tever the fans are throwing at him. The title is a reality for Chelsea
by E J on February 24, 2008
I Think Avram Grant Has Done A Terrible Job As Chelsea Manager. I Think Steve Clarke And Henk Ten Cate Are Picking The Teams And Grant Seems More Like A Caretaker Manager To Me! Bring In Frank Rijkaard or Carlo Ancelotti..!!
by mike de angelis on March 06, 2008
I think Grant has done ok.Unlucky against Man U,Mikel sent off early, unlucky against Arsenal,Terry injured. He takes us on an unbeaten run to equal anything Jose did.Undefeated home record in the league still intact. He made a bad team selection for the Carling Cup and left it to late for the changes we wanted to make any difference,(J.Cole and M.Ballack).The 2 games before that were pretty poor performance's but the Liverpool game was always going to be tough and Liverpool were not exactly setting the world on fire.Just 2 teams with history trying to cancel each other out.Since the cup we have hit 4 past the hammers and 3 past the greeks everyone said would be difficult at the Bridge!!!With the games still to play between the top 3 we are probably in the strongest position.Champions League is anyone's at this stage and the players picked in the next round need to prove how hungry they are for this trophy. The FA Cup is good for us and we have probably the best record in it over the last decade.Weather he is the long term solution, who knows, but I say well done Mr Grant for filling those big boots of Jose and keeping the mancs and gooners still looking over their shoulders in fear!!!!!!!!!!!

Chelsea fans have to thank Grant and apologize for the horrible time they gave him. First time in the Champion's League finals. Amazing.
by Toni Okpala on May 02, 2008
Avram should not be under-estimated in any form. It seems to me that He has a lot gumption, finese & patience which are essential elements in succeding his tasks in Chelea. Toni

i really think that grant is the right man for chelsea he did a really good job .. a real chance to win the ECC and the premier league respect him i am sure the players are doing the same thing..
by Zappa on May 22, 2008
Grant is a great man, all you who are spitting on him have know idea what you are talking about. Just because he is not someone with media agenda does not mean he is a bad manager. Chelsea deserved the champions cup, and played well mostly thanks to grants great tactical ability.
by sao bockarie on May 23, 2008
The game was a great game though we didn't win but we still have faith in our coach & players. Grant is way better then Mourinho becouse he can stand up to any challenges that come his way but for Mourinho he is a runner away man, who only want to be involve when is sweet and leave when its bad and that not the kind of man Chelsea need. Jose is a great man but with that kind of attribute it will be hard for him to sucess in the sporting world.
