I don't think he'll score as many as Rushie did because of the way the game has changed. But if he carries on working as hard as he did last night, he won't be far away! That was one of the best individual performances from a striker i've ever seen.

Im a Liverpool fan, agree Torres looks awesome but what exactly is the point of this article?? Some1 who none of us know writing some pointless crap about which Liverpool players have touched his heart..We could all come on here and do that but the rest of us havnt got our heads shoved that far up our own arses to think that any1 else gives a shit.

i think torres is a very great striker and he will lead livwerpool to the premier league glory and will win the golden boots in his first yeasr if he get regular start.
by Shane Robinson on September 26, 2007
Agree with the piece, Torres got hammered and still kept going. On a few occasions he actually threw a hand out to steady himself as he stumbled towards regaining his balance after another late tackle. Scott, no need for the vitriol mate. He looks exciting alright and has hit the ground running at 'Pool. Let's hope he gets a regular start. Torres to be one of the first names on the teamsheet for all our league matches. Rest him in the cups if he needs it and I am including the European Cup in that too.

Where are we going with the Ruddock comment??? The man was a fat disgrace. No talent or passion for football, let alone LFC. there was a pasison to pick up a pay packet to throw at a tom or down the back street pubs in the city centre. let us never speak of this thing again.

there's no doubt that Torres has imense talent but to say he will become one of the liverpool greats is arguable. in todays football he might not even be there that long. Liverpool need to constantsly push for top honours other wise he'll be off to europe playting for the likes of Barcelona/Real Madrid when he keeps scoring. If he stays then yeah he will be a legend at Anfield. theres no way he'll overtake good ole rush though, didnt he score something like 250 goals for you?
Good comment Jason. If he was a glory hunter then why stay at Athletico for 6 years when the likes of Barca, etc. were even more accessible than they are now? Maybe think these things through before they go to print. If he was going to go there he would have gone when they came knocking every summer for the past 3 years. Top honours? What have Real won recently? Hard to fathom I suppose as a Villa fan, the place where players who were never good enough to make the grade in the top sides go. No surprise any talent leaves your lot. Best of luck holding on to Barry!

However Jason is it your theroy that every good player fucks off if there team ain't good because in that case why is Barry still around at your place considering how poor you lot have been in the last ten years? Footballers have more loyalty than they are given credit for, which admitedly is very little.Lets talk about Torres at the end of the season before going on this greates thing ever/ expensive flop arguement, having said that I like the look of him.

Mr. Willis, I'm a lifelong Liverpool fan but I haved a healthy respect for Villa, a proper club with a great heritage and, I hope, an exciting future with O'Neill at the helm. Your initial post was thoughtful and fair comment, but your response to Mr. Robinson.....well, er, try to resist the temptation to react; you don't need to justify insults with insults. I hope to see Villa in Europe alongside the my beloved Reds.

you are out of your mind if you think torres has any chance of passing rush in goal scoring. in fact, he'll be luck to catch robbie, especially with the way football is these days. liverpool won't line up with a 30 plus striker as their #1, so records are essentially out the door. i also think you are a little desperate for a hero. yes, torres had a good game, but you go on about him getting kicked and being brave as though he were different from all the others. the jury is still in deliberation as far as i'm concerned. the lad will have to work a little harder to get that place in my heart, than he did for that place in yours.

To Jason Willlis, your AV team is going nowhere with young english players with mediocre talents. Only barry is good enough to be a squad player in top 4, the rest like young, abundantwhore, knight, davies ... are average players with limited capabilities. You are the new spurs (poor version of course) and you are living on the constant dose of emerging english talents myth.

i wrote the first comment but i didnt write any of the others. theres some dick on here thinking he's funny. I actually like Liverpool. better them than Man U, chelsea or Arsenal.
