ronaldo is the most under rated player
by edyboy on October 08, 2007
Peter Crouch has to be that man. His gangly appearance seems to detract from the fact that he has great feet, and in the right team, could be absolutely deadly
by Pauly Bhoy on October 08, 2007
Has to be Mikel Arteta fantastic all round player.
by Richard, Withington on October 08, 2007
Without a shadow of a doubt, it has to be Richard Dunne of Man City. He has been consistantly one of the best defenders in the premiership over the last few seasons and is still not given the time of day he deserves, by the media or fans.
by David Delaney on October 08, 2007
Steve Finnan - Solid as a Rock
by rui coster on October 08, 2007
it has to be shevchenko becuase that legend has almost single handedly put Chelsea back to where they belong fucking "also rans" and for that we should all rate him very highly!
by ChrisP on October 08, 2007
Peter Crouch has to be that man. His gangly appearance seems to detract from the fact that he has great feet, and in the right team, could be absolutely deadly
Why on earth do people always say that about Crouch? It's absolute rubbish. Just because a player is tall, it doesn't mean he's going to have a worse touch than a shorter person. He's a professional footballer, of course he should have good feet. Height is totally irrelevent to your ability to control the ball, and I wish people would stop saying stuff like that. If anything, Crouch is overrated.
by Steve on October 08, 2007
would either be Jamie Carragher(one of the most under-rated centre-backs in the world or Didi Hamman who has quietly got on with his job since arriving at Newcastle, was almost perfect at Liverpool and is now doing the same at Man City still wothout getting the plaudits his talent deserves
by JT on October 08, 2007
Got to agree, stole my thunder.. but certainly not under rated by the City fans!
Without a shadow of a doubt, it has to be Richard Dunne of Man City. He has been consistantly one of the best defenders in the premiership over the last few seasons and is still not given the time of day he deserves, by the media or fans.
by lee Kearns on October 08, 2007
Sorry Edyboy but to say Peter Crouch is the most underrated player in the Prem at the moment is just simply a joke. And to say He would be deadly in the right team is probably true If he played for Rushden and Diamonds. My most underrated has to be Lescott at the moment the guy has won 3 games for Everton so far Scoring 5 goals and he is a center back.
by del on October 08, 2007
unbelievable so far this season. His work rate is never a question. While he might not shine in any games for long periods of time, he can always be relied on to give 100% and get down into the nitty gritty of the game.
by Daniel Nichols on October 08, 2007
First of all, the suggestion that Ronaldo is the most underrated player is laughable and the manc that wrote it knows nothing about football. As an Arsenal fan i would say probably Kolo Toure and i think most neutrals would agree but i can see why Crouch's Name has been mentioned also an absolute quality player very underrated.
by Slaps on October 08, 2007
I have no liking for Blackburn but tha kids finishing is mustard. If he was playing for a bigger side (with less forwards) he'd get shed loads.
by Cork Blue on October 08, 2007
Richard Dunne - he's here, there and every** where! City player of the season 3 times in a row - hero for Ireland - might have to watch out for Elano this season tho' ;)
by WBM on October 08, 2007
Has to be Nyron like.
by Hummer on October 08, 2007
Hes had so many injuries but is still world class could easily paly for one of the top 4
by tricky trickster on October 08, 2007
As a spurs fan I have to say, Arteta from a neutrals perspective. But Finnan and Matty Taylor run close for 'pool and Pompey respectively. No-one from spurs this season as they are all playing like shite (except Keano, who rightly does get plaudits and his deserved start ahead of Defoe).
by clockendjim on October 08, 2007
I agree with Pauly Bhoy that it must be Arteta. As an Arsenal fan, he is one of the few players from another team that I would like to see in our squad. He and Fabregas together would be unstoppable.
by gaz on October 08, 2007
if you've seen him play you know why.
by D.N on October 08, 2007
Gotta be Richard Dunne
by Lelive on October 08, 2007
Span are mad not picking him.
by french gooner on October 08, 2007
MGP is a player that should be battled over by the big clubs. I'd love him to go to arsenal. and being stuck in Blackburn is causing his underrating. he needs a bigger scene to prove what he can do. Gilberto is the unsung hero in the brazilian team and for arsenal because he gets on with it and does not moan or spend too much time in the papers. he appreciates his job and gives his all. I trully think that gilberto is one of the best pure midfielders in the world and although he is 30 he still has a lot tp offer for arsenal or should he choose to go to any of the biggest teams in the world. Kolo toure deserves a shout again for a great attitude and performances that put him up there with the best CBs of the EPL. I personnally think he is better than john terry who is supported because of the fact he is english. Cheers
At my Club it has to Radek Cerny because if he cant get a game ahead of lardy fuck it Paul Robinson then he must be very very under thought of
I agree with Pauly Bhoy that it must be Arteta. As an Arsenal fan, he is one of the few players from another team that I would like to see in our squad. He and Fabregas together would be unstoppable.
I just agreed with a gooner, maybe there are one or two that know something about football!! ;)
by pants on October 08, 2007
agree with you guys about dunne, i remember the days when he first played against the gunners, and thierry would always rip him apart. then in the last few years quietly got on with his job and grew in stature, definitely underrated. Id have to throw hleb in there aswell, the amount of people that have issues with him is astonishing to me, one of the best players with the ball at his feet but maybe a bit more fanfare around him than dunney
by leeyiankun on October 08, 2007
Dunne's the man for me, with Hamman not far off. Both 100% to the game, a figure to turn to, and Solid performance. We owe more to then then they were given credit for. CTID!
by Andrew Wainwright on October 08, 2007
I think if Arteta played for one of the top 4 clubs he'd be rated as one of the best players in the league. He only doesn't get in the Spain squad because they have so many other outstanding midfielders.
by Neil Dawson on October 08, 2007
The best right back in the premiership and has been for a number of years! But no one outside Liverpool talks about him
by Wolfgang Heinz-Mueller on October 08, 2007
Andy Reid - Spurs' best player
by kaka on October 08, 2007
kaka
by Stu Irvine on October 08, 2007
Not many candidates but no one seems to ever give Robbie Keane the rating he deserves. He has made himself undropabble over the last two years with his goals. Everyone questions why Defoe is not playing, the simple answer why is Robbie.
by Jimbo on October 08, 2007
I'd struggle to say Arteta, mostly because I think most people now recognise how good and important he is. At Arsenal, I'd say Hleb, and Toure are the most under-rated. In the league as a whole, I think Richard Dunne is a good shout, and maybe someone like Benni McCarthy. John Utaka looks like an excellent player too, as does someone like Benjani.
by mark on October 08, 2007
Martin Laursen has got to be in the top 5 most underated player in the premier league he's been outstanding so far 4 clean sheets an 2 goals in 8 games
by Jay on October 08, 2007
For me the best left back in the country at the moment but you never here his name mentioned... Arteta is there too. Crouch is useless and deserves to be rated so low... many a basketball player could do what he does
by MattUTV on October 08, 2007
Now that Martin Laursen is fit he is absolutely immense for Villa! A snip at £3m from AC Milan.
by RRA on October 08, 2007
Ashley Young was seen to be over priced when we(villa) bought him......now he's the bargain of the season at 8 million!! Playing much better than the over-rated Joe Cole Ashley Young must play left side for England for sure!!!
Andy Reid - Spurs' best player
The strapline was 'player' not 'pie eater'. When Ried left the lane the tuck shop profits took a nose dive. Fortunatley Robbo's taken up the challenge to get the turnover back up,lol. Cerny for Number 1 please.
by Readie on October 08, 2007
Has to be Robbie Keane....13 goals in his last 16 games. He is a true professional who is not only a class finisher but is a 1st class team player....Berbatov gets the exploits and rightly so but Robbie is Tottenham!
by deano on October 08, 2007
football genius
by Locky on October 08, 2007
Gotta be matty Derbyshire of Blackburn one for the future such a natural finisher of the ball when his more expirienced he will be a 20 a goal season striker!
by badarouge on October 08, 2007
scholes d best english player after gaza
by John Jenkins on October 08, 2007
Morton Gamst Pederson - Blackburn Grant Leadbitter - Sunderland Craig Gordon - Sunderland Olivia Kapo - Birmingham Giles Barnes - Derby Gareth Barry - Aston Villa Kevin Nolan - Bolton Julian Lescott - Everton Leon Osman - Everton David Healy - Fulham Richard Dunne - Manchester City Jonny Evans - Manchester United Owen Hargreaves - Machester United Stewart Downing - Middleborough Julio Arca - Middlesborough Charles N'Zogbia - Newcastle Sylvian Distin - Portsmouth Sol Campbell - Portsmouth Kanu - Portsmouth Tom Huddlestone - Tottenham Dean Ashton - West Ham Jason Koumas - Wigan All these players are under rated in my opinion.
by Matt Thorne on October 08, 2007
Yes he's injured and has been for a while but don't think that spurs's defensive crisis is just a coincidence. For me when fit Ledley is the best defender in the premiership, rock solid, quick and just gets on with it....Hope he's back soon!
by sammy on October 08, 2007
O'shea is the most underrated but yet most versatile player i ever did see, i mean he has played for us since his debut in 1999 in - Left back, then Right Back, Centre Half, then Left Wing, Centre Midfield, Right Midfield, against reading in aug as Forward and last season as a goalie, i mean what is left...acting coach..????? and each time he seems to perform well and never complains just does the job and always delivers.. ask liverpool supporters what he did to them last season infront of the kop in injury time for a 10men man utd!!!!!!
by Boyzer on October 08, 2007
would either be Jamie Carragher(one of the most under-rated centre-backs in the world or Didi Hamman who has quietly got on with his job since arriving at Newcastle, was almost perfect at Liverpool and is now doing the same at Man City still wothout getting the plaudits his talent deserves
Don't think so... Ok, he didn't get a regular in the england team, but everyone knows what a greta player he'd be there, if he had bluer eyes... Rio is a bit of a joke in my opinion.. But hey ho.. Think carragher is great!! That from a spurs fan.
by dutch on October 08, 2007
alex hleb is very underrated as is momo sissoko and benni mcarthy
by John Warham on October 08, 2007
I'd concur with those who suggest Mikel Arteta, although Joleon Lescott has also been outstanding. In the championship I've been impressed by Michael Kightly at Wolves and Wes Houlahan of Blackpool who is a very intelligent player.
by Bingo on October 08, 2007
Hard and clever defender. Moves foward often
by Jason on October 08, 2007
Absolutely massive and solid as a rock as well as surprisingly agile considering his size. also dangerous going forward for set pieces
by Scotthammer on October 08, 2007
Not by hammer fans or most opposing fans but obviously by McClaren. Green should be Englands No 1.
by Dane on October 08, 2007
he has to be one of the most consistant players in the premiership and has in my opinion been one of west hams best player.
by dave on October 08, 2007
zokora or lee young pyo
by Charles on October 08, 2007
Julio Arca. Boro's best run of form last year coincided with his shift into the middle, and our recent run of defeats are in no small part down to him being out
by Stuart on October 08, 2007
I would have to go with Hossam Ghaly especially as even most spurs fans hate him. If you watch him he has the sort of energy and workrate of Hargreaves (not as good). But also has alot of skill and just needs a chance to play centre midfield where he is at his best.
by James on October 08, 2007
Jaaskalinen! fantastic keeper and Im a Man Utd fan! also Artets is immense for Everton but the most under rated player has to be, no question of a doubt, TITUS BRAMBLE
by Nick on October 08, 2007
Dunne - best centre back in the country. Didi has been player of the season so far. Best of the rest is Huddleston (Spurs), Gilberto (Arsenal) or Barry (Villa) - class man, all of them - one of these to replace Didi next year please (Gilberto is my preference)
by Gonner4life on October 08, 2007
My underated 11 Green Chimbonda...Dunne...Distain...Clichy Bently.. .Flamini...Reo-Coker...Petrov Benjani...Mcfadden
by underhay on October 08, 2007
jussi jaaskalainen (or however the hell you spell it) has been the difference for Bolton for the ast ten years. bolton would still be a mid-table league championship team, if not for him
by eamonn on October 08, 2007
has to be keane for me, i know im a spurs fan so slightly biased but robbies the only player at spurs this season that hold his head up, if he was english no one would even mention defoe. defoe aint playin cos he's not good enough, took robbie to come of the bench on thurs(jst as against boro in the cc)n save us further embarresment against the european superpower that is famagusta!! defoe is graeat to score a few when your 4 nil up but goes awol wen ur nil nil or behind and the little fucker thinks a pass is an answer in mastermind!! outside spurs id say arteta(sheer quality) bentley(england regular in the making)and agger. poll aint the same without him. and that muppet that saids andy reid, charlton are in the championship mate and if the ever mak it back to the premiership that fat fuck will be found wanting again...... except at the local kebab shop where he's never found wanting!

Sorry didn't mean city fans, but fans of other teams.
by bugster on October 08, 2007
One of the best midfielders in the world yet benitez hardly uses him. He would walk in to any team in the prem and be first name on the team sheet. And whoever said sissoko and crouch have got to be joking. Watching crouch next to torres makes him look exactly waht he is - shite, and sissoko couldn't pass a turd.
by billy on October 08, 2007
im spurs fan and it has to be gareth barry
by Paul on October 08, 2007
Top draw, joint 2nd top goalscorer so far this season and 13 goals in 16 games. Keep it up Keano.
by allan on October 08, 2007
He gets no respect converting from a striker to defensive midfielder. He is the most wily midfielder in the prems. using his vast expeience to compensate for his tired legs.
ronaldo is the most under rated player
Nob
by kingston on October 08, 2007
Its amazing how much this guy contributes to his team and journalist turn a very disgusting blind eye.
by Jake on October 08, 2007
Finnan, best right bsck in the prem
by butt on October 08, 2007
I honestly don't know it would be more intresting to find the most underrated player outside the premiership. Everybody in the premiership is highly rated or at least have been. I guess someone doing a descent job in Reading like Andre Bikey, have never heard about him before. Scored highest off the Reading players in a newspaper.

Even now that he has got to a big club and performing as well as ever I just can´t understand why everyone is not crying out for him in the England squad.Strikers best friend if you ask me and is grossly underrated.

by chris on October 08, 2007
plays a key part in all of wigans goals
by Stevo on October 08, 2007
Our "superstar" Morten Gamst Pederson is by far the most overrated player in the WORLD. If only we could flog him to Spurs or Arsenal ! Please please please
by Jim on October 08, 2007
True proffessional, gives everything and more in every game, fantastic in the air, as brave a player as you will ever see and works hard for the team and is not greedy and never moans. He's not one of the players always looking for bigger wages. Best value for money you will ever see.
by gg on October 08, 2007
it has to be paul scholes
by JAMES on October 08, 2007
But true!
by Mich on October 08, 2007
Tamourian or whatever his name is at Bolton, I think he's a quality player
by Jason Willis on October 08, 2007
it's got to be shaun maloney, great little player. as for the robbie keane and scholes suggestion,,,,,,behave and stop clogging up my articles with shit!! there's no way keane is a star, he's yid scum and scholes is little ginger wanker.
by Levi Warrington on October 08, 2007
...and it has to be ol' Dwight at Sunderland, this is from a disgruntled Blade aswell
wonder how many of the premiership footballers are gay?
by lawrence on October 08, 2007
Nobody's been able to cope with him for the last 6 months. If he wore a red shirt people would be calling him Ronaldo, but he's at a less fashinable team so he's just 'a useful player'. Him and Martin Laursen are the difference this season for the Villa, playing like world beaters. The whole front line has to be the paciest in the league at the moment, but Young is the real magician, making the step from just being an athlete to being really top class in terms of skill too.
by Dee87 on October 08, 2007
Has to be Antoine Sibierski, best signing of the season for newcastle last year, everytime he played he scored dont know why they sold him, but he will again when he's fit
by shabba on October 08, 2007
It's a shame he doesn't play anymore as he would be top of my list.
by IRRRRONNNSSS on October 08, 2007
hayden mullins and robert green....should be england keeper by far
by Yid on October 08, 2007
Well im a spurs fan and i have 2 say i feel robbiekeane is very under rated but i also feel tht aglogahor or how eva u spell it is 2...very gd plyer and def 1 for the future!
by Gooner Spencer on October 08, 2007
Robbie Keane (hate to say it as a gooner fan), young of aston villa, tim cahill (though injured), defoe (in a wrong club .. he needs regular games to blossom), hleb/flamini/song (arsenal), arteta, petrov of man-city, nzogbia of newcastle, kalou of chelsea .. and many others ...
by dougie more on October 08, 2007
Robbie keane has to the most under rated player. He is class
by Norwegian on October 08, 2007
1. Antoine Sibierski - Been underrated from day one. Strong in positional play, exceptional header, can play on both midfield and up front. 2. Mikel Arteta - One of the best all-rounders around. Would love him at man.utd. 3. Richard Dunne - One of the best around... I'm from Norway, and I know for a fact, that Morten Gamst is at his peak at Blackburn - he doesn't have much more to offer than what you see... Good player, but not Arsenal/man.utd./lfc material...
by soldlogan on October 08, 2007
either alonso or mascherano. no-one talks about either of them and yet both are massively influential, i cant wait for alonso to get fit. Everyone raves about stevie gerrard but the others should have some credit too
Wes Brown has been outstanding this year he has been rock solid in the back and coming forward his dribbling and crossing have been ace, but he is well under-rated.
by Andy Davies on October 09, 2007
I'd hardly call Arteta and Gamst underrated, everyone knows there amazing and invaluable to there teams respectively.... Underrated players, hmmmm David Dunn maybe, Ivan Campo, Yobo and Lescott??? None of my beloved spurs.... most of them well overrated.
by Jockey on October 09, 2007
Playing at England level at the moment, if he could score goals he would be in the mix as McClaren rates as he tried to sign in his Boro days
by ben man on October 09, 2007
Given, Luke young, lescott, sol campbell, matt taylor bentley, hamann, nolan, arca heskey, bojinov
by JohnnyBAX on October 09, 2007
i think morten gamst is the most underated. hes fantastic
by AB on October 09, 2007
Toure? Liability and massively overated. Same applies to Carragher. None of the top teams have any underated players because they get built up so much. The minute a player from a 'lesser' club has a half decent game he gets touted for a move or if English straight in the national squad. Matty Taylor gets my vote because he should be at a bigger club and in the England squad.
by ap on October 09, 2007
very underrated player great energy
by Arron johns on October 09, 2007
very quick and talented. one for the future.

he scores and is a solid english center back. he deserves at least a cap
by MR ARMANI on October 09, 2007
If anybody has been watching Pompey play lately they must of noticed Sean Davis, his performances against Liverpool, Reading and Fulham has been top class. If this continues he should be in contention for England, but with the England manager being the most blinkered manager in the world what chance has anybody to get into the England midfield.
by the man on October 09, 2007
Robert Green of West Ham....shud b picked for England instead of Robinson in terms of form...
by Bluechester on October 09, 2007
Oh, sorry, did you say underrated? I thought it was overrated. It's got to be Dunney boy. Faultless since cutting the booze and getting fit.
by Jake on October 09, 2007
... who has been incredible this season, and has deservedly kept out the talented PEdro Mendes.
by Gaucho on October 09, 2007
firstly , i watch EPL often and i can't believe why kolo toure is thought of so highly? he's nothing but a strong and fast midfielder playing at centre-back! he's reading of the game is poor and gets away with many mistakes every game. i think arsenal will struggle against tougher teams with senderos and toure (unless they play 4-5-1). my most underated players in EPL is sean davis, evra, finnan, richard dunne, adebayor and michael johnson
by Ossie on October 09, 2007

by kranjcar on October 09, 2007
half the pompey team. davis has been excellent, kranjcar has bben imense, benjani unbeleivable, and johnson fantastic. arteta is under-rated at everton - so excluding the pompey playors,a s i am biased, it has to be arteta.

by Ossie Osgood on October 10, 2007
I know it's fair early on the season, but i feel Roque is going to be something big in the Premier League, he's pretty much adapted straight away hitting something like 5 goals in 12 games, now thats not bad for only a dozen games in the Premier League!
by Graham on October 10, 2007
Steve Finnan, rock solid. Reminds me of another unsung hero, Denis Irwin when at Man Utd.Its players like these that win your trophies. They dont grab headlines for the wrong reasons. They put their heads down and do the job. Not flash either in appearance or lifestyle, but their commitment to club and country was second to none!
