He cant defend, he cant overlap and he cant pass. So why is Liverpool so hard on getting him? by bazza on October 22, 2007 Why do you say it is immoral that Heinze wasn't allowed to sign for Liverpool? He was under contract to Man Utd, the only way United would release him from his contract was if they agreed to sell him to another team, and they didn't want that other team to be Liverpool. Nothing "immoral" - just standard contractual fare. If Heinze wanted to sign for Liverpool, he should have seen out his contract at United - what's the point of signing a contract otherwise. Same principle applied to the Owen Hargreaves situation - except Bayern eventually agreed to sell..Hargreaves would have had no right to take Bayern to court for refusing to sell him to United. If Liverpool want to sign Heinze, then they'll be able to do so from Real - nothing United can do to stop that, as they don't have a first refusal on him, I would imagine. In any case, warrior he may be, but Heinze was less than impressive in his last season at United - Paddy Evra kicks his arse at left back, as do both Cashley Cole and Gael Clichy.
