Most of these guys already have a reasonable reputation, the only one i didnt really know much about was Miguel Veloso. Also they are all midfielders or strikers.
by Jordan on November 01, 2007
What about Micheal Johnson of Manchester City he is just 19 and is already one of the best cenral midfielders in the premier league, the world is his oyster.
by P on November 01, 2007
How does Fabregas not make it into this list?
by Matt on November 01, 2007
No Fabregas?.....World class at 20
by Leroux on November 01, 2007
if you can put 21year olds like veloso on the list, surely fabregas(20) should be on there, for he is by far the best player in europe at this time!!
by Presh on November 01, 2007
Fran Merida, Henri Lansbury, Mark Randall, etc etc etc
by Nathan on November 01, 2007
I think that is a good list of players, there are a few glaring misses, although when you try to compress the worlds best talent into 10 its going to be hard. Don't know about Babel being in the top 10, class prospect that he is, I don't think in the top ten. You could argue that he isn't even the best prospect for Liverpool as they have Lucas. Can't argue with Aguero being number 1 though!
by leroux on November 01, 2007
i agree with u that they are good players, but they are not in the same class as anderson, veloso ect...YET!!!
by Wise Man on November 01, 2007
Fran Merida, Henri Lansbury, Mark Randall, etc etc etc
Give me a break...
Oh and if fabregas aint on the list its pointless.... Prospects, where then yes include players that have not made even a handful of appearences, but come on Talents was the headline and if fabregas aint there you should be locked up... Im a Liverpool fan not a Arsenal fan metioning players that havnt even pulled on the shirt more than once yet
by Bet Blogger on November 01, 2007
About Babel on this list. Not done much so far for Liverpool, we expected more!
by Franny on November 01, 2007
Doesn't say prospects anywhere on the article. It says "most exciting youngsters in the world at the moment.". Not so wise now are you?
by Shane Robinson on November 01, 2007
Em, Fabregas? Denilson? Babel has shown sparks, particularly that dummy and finish against Derby but then again they are the whipping boys. Still, if he is here then Arsenal have a few that deserve entry.
by GoonerDave on November 01, 2007
Aparantley a little known argentinian who plays for Barca. Some say he might be good one day.
Yes landsbury and Merida should be there. Merida just carried Spain under 17's to the world cup final and along with Bojan is the next spanish super star. Barca have taken the player to court over the issue. If he wasnt going to be a great they wouldn't have bothered.Henri Landsbury will be Englands next super star.He was on the bench against Liverpool at just 16 and made his debut for Arsenal last night. He is that good technically that you couldn't tell the difference between him and Brazilian Denilson.
by keniget on November 01, 2007
I'm pretty sure the likes of Fabregas, Messi, Rooney et al weren't included because they are already up there with the best. This was a list for those that aren't quite "there" yet.
by mark on November 01, 2007
wayne rooney is the best striker in the world
by clockendjim on November 01, 2007
Just got to add my emphasis to pointing out the clanger of not including Cesc Fabregas. He is head and shoulders above all of these listed.
by Author on November 01, 2007
Obviously Fabregas, Messi and Rooney are sensations, but they are already proven players - the point of the list was to be original and to point out some of the more unknown or low profile stars in world football.
by Sakibul Haq on November 01, 2007
Your list isnt too bad.but u forgot to add 2 of europe's premier talents.Cesc fabregas and vincent kompany.at least in my opinion
by Seif Hendy on November 01, 2007
samir nasri, theo walcott, gareth bale, fran merida, fernando gago, royston drenthe, nicklas bendtner, abou diaby, denilson and that's about everyone you've forgotten.
by masterring on November 01, 2007
Luka Modric at 22 years best player in Croatia, and best player in Croatian national team. And no Fabregas on the list is just LOL. Veloso? Give me a break, such an overrated and not so gifted player. He was so awful in CL game vs Roma.
by el nino on November 01, 2007
wat about liverpools rising star in central midfield, hasn had a real opportunity to show wat he can do but has still made an impact in the premiership, surely he deserves 10 at least???
by jonathan on November 01, 2007
Nobody seems to have mentioned Nani. Has had more of an impact than Anderson so far. Excellent player.
by farhan on November 01, 2007
Anderson sucks in manu. He wasn't even good in fc porto as publicised. Babel isn't that exciting too. Fran merida, Nordviet, denilson and walcott are so easily ignored from the list. PREPOSTEROUS!
by Jason Willis on November 01, 2007
agbonlahor has got to be on that list.
by TH14 on November 01, 2007
How can Cesc not be on there? How many of the players above has played in all the games leading up to a chapions leauge final? or scored again Juventus in the Qrt finals? With out having him in your top 10 it makes it look like a mockery! Please put more thought in to your top ten next time!
by gunner on November 01, 2007
What about Micheal Johnson of Manchester City he is just 19 and is already one of the best cenral midfielders in the premier league, the world is his oyster.
by Tan on November 01, 2007
What about Angle Di Maria?
by V Wilson on November 01, 2007
Only an idiot would neglect to include Germany's Toni Kroos in the top 3. To not even have him on the list shows the ignorance and total neglect of the writer to actually know anything about the sport other than the hype reports he has been reading to help him make his decision.
The other obvious exclusion has to be Micah Richards - still only 19
by Jon on November 01, 2007
Perhaps the list should have been a top 20. There is a lot of other players who should be in this list... Rooney the best striker in the world, clearly another delusional manc fan...
by LB on November 01, 2007
Looking only at those that are not well known already, which is more interesting: Moussa Sissoko (France), Banega (Argentina), Merida (Spain), Chrisantus (Nigeria), Lansbury (England), Nordveit (Norway I think), Krkic (Spain), Vela (Mexico), Armand Traore (France), Pato (Brazil).
by The Arsenal Forum on November 01, 2007
thats a load of shite good players but there are many many more
by marc on November 01, 2007
this article is about fresh talent that are really yet to be proven. perhaps kompany of HSV, nuri sahin (of no idea), ochoa, the mexican? goalie, 20, AMAZING, shortlisted for the ballon d'or you know! castro, the RB playing for a german team, can't remember, like 18 though. perhaps podolski, haven't seen much of him this year at bayern, although last year he was INSANE! pique, man u's CB, maybe one for the future. and i have to say denilson is looking superb at the moment.
by Rodge on November 01, 2007
What about Wrexham's finest? Our kids are at the peak of their powers and could play anyone off the park.
by FM 2008 on November 01, 2007
this article is about fresh talent that are really yet to be proven. perhaps kompany of HSV, nuri sahin (of no idea), ochoa, the mexican? goalie, 20, AMAZING, shortlisted for the ballon d'or you know! castro, the RB playing for a german team, can't remember, like 18 though. perhaps podolski, haven't seen much of him this year at bayern, although last year he was INSANE! pique, man u's CB, maybe one for the future. and i have to say denilson is looking superb at the moment.
Yes I too play Football Manager it is a good game. However you didn't mention Freddy Adu, and what about Andres Guardado he is amazing on that game too!!!
by Da Silva on November 01, 2007
Ever Banega, Toni Kroos and Guillermo Ochoa are set for very big things.
the point i'm trying to make is that people are wondering why players like fabregas, rooney etc. are not in the top ten. its because this article is about fresh talent that are really yet to be proven!

this article is about fresh talent that are really yet to be proven. perhaps kompany of HSV, nuri sahin (of no idea), ochoa, the mexican? goalie, 20, AMAZING, shortlisted for the ballon d'or you know! castro, the RB playing for a german team, can't remember, like 18 though. perhaps podolski, haven't seen much of him this year at bayern, although last year he was INSANE! pique, man u's CB, maybe one for the future. and i have to say denilson is looking superb at the moment.
Yes I too play Football Manager it is a good game. by the way, i don't actually play footy manager :) but i agree, guardado is meant to be quite good. i don't rate adu very highly. soz. :)
by Goofle on November 01, 2007
Its top 10. Calm it down. Not all the players can fit in it in the world. And Michael Johnson? HAHAHAHA
by Danni Atlas on November 01, 2007
Please!!!! (if not too late) put Fabregas on that list for the Arsenal fans - also if possible create this special link: www.sportingo.com/fabregas/fanatics Three names that I miss; Nani, Walcott and especailly Sahin. For the record: I don't think they ara as good as Fabregas :D
That is important lol :D But Nani? Don't think so. Walcott? Come on, Im an Arsenal fan and I think he is FAR from the list. Its 10 TEN T-E-N thats it.
by Music on November 01, 2007
And was amazing at the U-20 cup as well. How can you not include him?
by TheTruthGiver on November 01, 2007
Rooney best in the world....? Sure he is. And Wes Brown is the best defender in the world, Gary Neille has the most beuatiful brother in the world, and Manchester United will beat Arsenal on Saturday! OK, now I am being ridiculous!
by Duh! on November 01, 2007
And was amazing at the U-20 cup as well. How can you not include him?
Because he's rubbish?
by The Daddy on November 01, 2007
1. Fabregas (whoever thinks otherwise is an idiot!) 2. Messi 3. Benzema 4. Veloso 5. Dos Santos 6. Carlos Vela 7. Kompany 8. Armand Traore 9. Micah Richards 10. Pato I-Thank-You PS - including the likes of Babel & Anderson on the list is ridiculous! They are good but will never be great.
by me on November 01, 2007
messi nani rooney fabregas should all be in this list
by Simon on November 01, 2007
Liverpool snapped up a kid from Barca called Pacheco who is apparently fantastic. Think he's 16 but has looked stunning for the youth team. Barca are understandably a little peeved. Liverpool have been signing some fantastic young players the last couple of years. There is also a young German striker, Bloovie or something who looks the business. Rafa was in charge of Real's youth set up for many years so he knows the value of buying young. Liverpool have won the FA Youth Cup two years running so hopefully we'll see some coming through in the next couple of years. We missed out on Aguero last summer as the price was about 14million. Bit much for an unproven 17 year old. Best youngster I have ever seen though. Gutted now.
by United on November 01, 2007
lol what about nani, rooney, ,fabregas etc.. there are much more players than thoose on the list
by Gunner on November 01, 2007
He is a world class player, not a talent and that is why he is skipped from the list, I guess!
by Dickie on November 01, 2007
I think you should be looking forward to the writ from World Soccer magazine arriving in the next couple of days...
by Danni on November 01, 2007
Royston Drenthe ????? Have not seen much but he was last U21 best player (voted).
by stuart on November 01, 2007
The youngest ever receiptant of the brazilian golden ball, won by players like kaka, ronaldinho etc.. He makes 'cesc' Fabregas look like a school boy. Is there a more over rated player in the world than that barca reject??? Oh, and im a gooner, btw.
by man@wrk on November 01, 2007
João Moutinho
by Jonny F on November 02, 2007
No, you're just being another stupid uppity gooner who's going to be quiet come 3pm Sat.
by Tone on November 02, 2007
Fabregas the best player in Europe? Have you not watched a lot of football in your life?! The lad's good but nowhere near that title. Open your eyes.
by man@wrk on November 02, 2007
I dont see why anybody would be quiet at 3pm seeing as thats the kick-off time. If anyones gonna be quiet its gonna be at 4:45pm surely? Stupid?? pot n kettle m8!
by AA on November 02, 2007
Nasri, Fabregas, Merida???

by Sushmit on November 02, 2007
guys guys giv the authur a break, the list is endless and we hav to respect his opinions . dont curse him just check out the new players he has pointed out that you didnt know about.
by samuel Ewoi on November 02, 2007
good list but you have forgotten the likes of Fabregas,Walcott,Nani,Clichy,Rosiky,Hleb and so on and so forth......
by gerry helmet on November 02, 2007
Take it you are an Arsenal Fan???! Helb and Rosicky are hardly young! and if you would have read the post you would understand that fabregas is not on it as he is a PROVEN talent! Babel....will definately shine in the next year.
by Matt on November 02, 2007
Well we are all really sorry about mentioning Cesc. Perhaps the title should have been 'up & coming young players' & not "The 10 most exciting young talents in world football" ( a category that would obviously involve the young Spaniard)..As for Cesc being the most over-rated player in the world...Did the hits start to tail off after " I just called to say I love you"? Watched Sporting v Nacional on Setanta last night....Veloso was nothing to write home about.
by edmatthews on November 02, 2007
man@wrk (02 / 11 / 2007 02:43) Recommend Comment Quote Well actually I dont see why anybody would be quiet at 3pm seeing as thats the kick-off time. If anyones gonna be quiet its gonna be at 4:45pm surely? Stupid?? pot n kettle m8! Kick off is 12:45pm not 3pm
by Larry Kwirirayi on November 02, 2007
How can Fabregas and Messi be missing from that. And come on man... everyone knows that Vela is owned by Arsenal and he has only been in spain for tow years. in fact forget that list
Because it's an early kick off. Big fan then are you?
by fernandez 1 on November 02, 2007
how can fabregas not be in this list he is without a doubt the best midfielder in the world right even better than kaka at the moment and another tht should be on this list roysten drenthe he won best player in the under 21s for holland
by Tel on November 02, 2007
Ronaldo, Tevez, Nani, Anderson and Rooney what more do you have to say when you have young players in your team like that.
by El Dondo on November 02, 2007
Right lets get this straight.. its the 10 most exciting young talents in world football, not the 10 'best' football players in the world.. Let's get this right people.. Fabregas number 1 all the way though, each week he brings something new and exciting to the Arsenal side.
by Gooner007 on November 03, 2007
Everyone keeps saying "What about Rooney, what about Fabregas" But Fabregas can't exactly be called a fresh talent as he has been playing for Arsenal for a few years now. This piece was obviously based on fresh unknown talents, not world class players. Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas have played international games, and have played first team football for a major team for years. I think maybe Lukasz Fabianski will be quite the good player in years to come. I don't think Nani should be up there as people keep saying. And somebody said "Rooney is the best striker in the world!" As if he is. Yes, he is great, but not the best. Sorry to burst your bubble mate. Although Theo Walcott is a fine young talent I must say. He will definatley be a world class player. Unless his legs fall off, touch wood that they don't.
by Rog on November 03, 2007
Players like Fabregas, Tevez, Rooney, Torres (since it was not mentioned, but is better than both Tevez and Rooney together) et al are all proven players. I would more go on players like Lucas, Merida, Pacheco, Pourie, Bertender et al
by lfc4ever on November 03, 2007
1. Gerardo Bruna - type into google news and you'll see. new messi 2. Kun Aguero - quality. absolutely stunning 3. Lucas Leiva - fabulous brazillian. next brazillian captain. 4. Lulinha - all the big clubs are after him. he is immense. 5. Alexandre Pato - going to be the best brazillian striker in terms of goals and finishing. 6. Ryan Babel - watch him next season. Cristiano Ronaldo? who? 7. Samir Nasri - the boy is immense. supposedly, lfc have first option on him part of cisse and zenden cheap deal. 8. Bojan Krkic - stats speak for themselves - nearly 1000 goals for barca youth team. 9. Dos santos - simply amazing. 10. Karim Benzema - next thierry henry me thinks. goal machine 11. Ben Arfa - brilliant. 12. Jeremy Menez - superb. 13. Carlos Vela - he is going to be amazing for the gooner scum. 14. Dani Pacheco - how peed off barca were was incredible. 15. Yohan Gourcuff - milan are very lucky to have this guy. 16. Nuri Sahin - fantastic. 17. Caner Erkin - apparently amazing winger along wit
h arda turan. 18. fran merida - lolz how annoyed barca were. 19. micah richards - willbe the best rb in the world. 20. Pazzini - amazing striker. Btw gerrard is better than fabregas. Gerrard can do everything fabregas and most things better. gerrard is better at - shooting, tackling, defending, heading, crossing, free kicks but fabregas edges it in terms of passing. but gerrard is better playa. fabregas a long way away from best playa in the world. but is good wth lots of potential. not ever best in the world. also torres is better than tevez and adebayor.
by Jordan on November 03, 2007
1. Fabregas 2. Messi 3. Richards 4. Aguerio 5. Benzema 6. Pato 7. Johnston 8. Nasri 9. Bojan 10. Pazinni

by Kelly on November 04, 2007
What about Jozy Altidore at NY Red Bulls? He was fantastic at U20 WC. He only turns 18 on tues, and is already one of the hottest young strikers out there.

by wordofwisdom on December 07, 2007
Fabregas doesn't need to be on this list. Maybe if it was compiled 2-3 years ago, yes. But right now, Fabregas has gone beyond the label of 'young talent'. He is simply, one of the best midfielders in the world.
by Jey on December 11, 2007
What about Anderson for me he is the best young player i have never see wait in 2 years he will become the best football player in the world, he can pass, he can tickle and also he can score he is even better than Fabregas don't get me worng i like fabregas he is a good player but the boy Anderson he is the best man united are so likely to have Anderson i am not a man united fan i am an arsenal fan.

anderson never going to be great?! well who was in andersosn pokect for two consecutive matches playing each other erm fabregas? lool
by zekk67 on April 12, 2008
Maybe we should split this list into 3 categories. (1) Players who are expected to shine in the future but has yet to prove (2) Players who were expected to shine in the future but has proven to be a waste of $$ and (3) Young players who are proven wonders. In list (1), we have Walcott, Merida, Gerardo Bruna, Emiliano Insua, Toni Kroos, Sunny (Valencia), Aaron Niguez, Krisztian Nemeth, Pato, Dos Santos. List (2), Nani, Armand Traore, Diaby (The next vieira my a**), Rooney(unless you want to take out some defenders behind the ref's back), Gourcuff. List (3) Fabregas, Lucas, Babel, Bojan, Ben Arfa, Benzema, Nasri, Pazzini, Higuain, Modric

by andreas haffar on June 09, 2009
Yes i agree with the Benzema, Aguero, Vela, and Ben Arfa and indeed Miguel Veloso as a personal favorite, who'll shine with time. But i also agree with those who have made comments above, in saying that some young talent is not on here and possibly shoud be. Such as, Micah Richards, Dan Gosling, Bendtner, Gareth Bale, Denilson, Breno of Bayern Munich, Marcelo of Madrid, Modric, Lucas Leva, Johnson, Kroos, Ebans-Blake, Altidore, Adu, Aaron Lennon, Wheater, Joe Hart, Miguel Victor, Gourcuff, Kazim Kazim, Zarate, Menez, Ninis, Aquafresca, Wellbeck, Balotelli, LauLau, Edgar, etc. But since Rooney and Fabregas have proven themselves, they're right to be off the list.
by Alex on June 17, 2009
there is one very young talent you forgot to mention, Gai Assulin, debut for israel at the age of 16. very promissing player.
