When Arsenal played Spurs a few weeks ago, it was said that that fixture would be their first test without the departed Ghandi, better known as Thierry Henry. Then Liverpool came around and that was the biggest test. Now Manchester United are at the Emirates and this could be the title decider, even though there are 2,626 games to go until the end of the season.

I am not about to tell you about the key battles in midfield and where I think the battle will be won because to be perfectly honest, when these two meet, the form book and everything else is thrown out the window. This is as close to a manufactured derby as you will get.

The two managers are more circumspect now; they do not engage in any banter unless it is completely necessary and they have kept a tight leash on their players in that department. Of course in theory that should mean a good clean game but you are likely to get more goodwill in a match between South Korea and North Korea.

'A goal might or might not be scored. Someone will cry. Someone will laugh and at the end of it all, 99.98% of the fans will be at work on Monday'

Arsenal will pass the ball around well as usual, and Manchester United will try to use the wings. But what is new about that? Nothing. The Arsenal fans will be cautious and think their team might win while the United fans will say only divine intervention will stop their team from taking all the points at the Emirates.

I say that football will be played. A goal might or might not be scored. Someone will cry. Someone will laugh and at the end of it all, 99.98% of the fans will be at work on Monday. Of course if your team loses, you might not be too excited about seeing fans of the other lot for about a week or so.

After all, it is just football. Or is it?
