While the weekend's Scottish Premier League games left Celtic and Rangers at the top, in-form Dundee United stepped up their challenge by disposing of Kilmarnock. Here's how the action went...
Dundee Utd 2 Kilmarnock 0The Tangarines secured their eighth victory of the season, whereas Killie have only managed one win in seven matches. The competence of United’s manager Craig Levein is now shining through, and United believe they can challenge for the title despite Celtic's current domination. Noel Hunt scored in the first nine minutes, and Prince Bauben added a late injury-time goal. Unfortunately, Jordan Robertson was red carded for ‘serious foul play'.
Gretna 0 Hibernian 1Whilst Hibernian has not hit the greatest form over the past three to four weeks, John Collins’ side were able to take the lead in the 52nd minute with a Steven Fletcher strike, and hold on to the win. Gretna have now lost six games in a row, and according to SkySports.com have conceded an unbelievable 31 goals in 13 matches.
Inverness CT 0 Motherwell 3The ten men of Inverness were not able to stop the clinical display of Motherwell. With Well scoring in the first 12 minutes, a second yellow card for Graham Bayne meant an early bath. The luck of Inverness was to consistently diminish throughout the match - with David Clarkson scoring again in the 53rd minute, and Darren Smith rounding it off with a last-minute strike.
