To think of a great national team for England, one would have to think of a great coach. It is not so easy to select a good coach in techniques of problem solving and decision making.

At the top end of  the Premier League, coaches are not only astute but they are also tough business people. The manager has to work hard to create a sophisticated team that can satisfy not only the fans but he has also to ensure that stock shares are always on the rise. We are therefore referring to a large share company of football.

As far as the national team is concerned, are England short of world-class players or is it merely the fault of the management that the national team is falling short? It can be both but it is more likely that a great manager will create a great team. To work for a national team involves more of a 'responsibility' factor than sole financial interest. The entire nation represents the fan base, and these fans expect England to win. So who is the best manager to lead England?

'With his patience and leadership skills we have seen Wenger create one of the best club teams in the world'

I believe Arsene Wenger is the man for the job. We have seen how he has shaped Arsenal. Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho’s success with Manchester United and Chelsea respectively lies in their financial muscle. England need a great manager who would be able to look for a short and long-term strategies. If Arsene were to be given the opportunity I believe he could create a 'dream team'.  With his patience and leadership skills we have seen him create one of the best club teams in the world.

Certainly, Wenger will not find it easy in being limited to choosing English players. And it would be interesting to see how he copes with all the FA committees and sub-committees that go with the England job.
