I aggree that the current players have at times been showing too much confidence and making silly comments to the press. If they have a genuine desire to win the league title then they should keep silent and let their feet do the talking. Claiming we are going to win the league won't make it happen. I dread to think how the players will feel after Sunday if there is another likely home defeat to United. It seems they don't understand just how difficult it will be to beat this current United side. I would go as far as to say the game on Sunday is the third most difficult in Rafa's Liverpool career after the 2 European Cup Final.

More sub-tabloid rantings from the wannabe sun journalist. Why not wait until you have a decent article prepared before you post something? Is this constant drivel that pours from your keyboard some internet version of tourette's?
by Martin on December 13, 2007
I couldn't agree more with this article. Also, fed up with this "this is the super duper most important game in the history of Liverpool, let alone mankind". F*** all that, this game's not one f***ing yota more important than the one at Madejski, at least not as far as gaining points is concerned. Liverpool need to show it can play good attacking footy where they win 8, 9 or even 10 games on the trot, then, and only then, will I praise the team. It's a sign of how weak we have become we need to constantly TELL everybody how good we are, rather than actually giving PROOF it's the case.
by Fawnicator on December 13, 2007
I agree to a certain extent but you went way over the top as per usual.Did you swallow a dictionary?
by Wazzz on December 13, 2007
We have been in two finals in the last three seasons and we are one of the favourites’ "ONE OF" not THE faves. "Fernando Torres is a monster of football. For me he is one of the best forwards in the world" O again... "ONE OF" would you disagree when 7 of the top 10 in the prem actually made offers for the boy, not wanted for being sh*te is he? 'He [Gerrard] is definitely one of the best players in the world. You look at Kaka and Messi, but they probably play further forward’ old news mate, said BEFORE the match, maybe after too, but thats probably as he is rated one of the finest midfield players in the world, see quote from well known website "Throughout his career he has won the PFA Young Player of the Year, PFA Player of the Year, European Midfielder of the year, Premier League Most Valuable Player (twice), and UEFA Most Valuable Player. He has also been awarded the MBE for his outstanding contributions in both the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final and the 2006 FA Cup Final in which he greatly inspire
d his team's comeback." As for Pepe, is it 1 or 2 golden gloves he's won since he arrived? He's either a really good keeper or Liverpool have a really good defence, either way something to praise dont ya think? ok about the auto bio.... depends what you have experienced in life, unlike a certain fat manc just started growing a beard when he wrote his. I'd really rather have a team confident in each others ability instead of having their head up their own ar** such as Ronaldo and Drogba.

Now hang on a minute... Ok im a Liverpool fan but thats a bit harsh. When we beat Besiktas 8 nil... I can remember Gerrard saying that it wouldnt matter unless we beat the remaining champs league matches.... Why didnt he say "Yeah we f-ing slaughtered them, pi** easy, we were great in fact we are the greatest!" Again, they said look forward to the next match. You have got to remember they answer questions put to them by the press at conferences. And the press are very leading with their questions so they can print wat THEY want with their own twist. If one player said Torres is world class, then good it helps the lad settle in and feel loved, wanted and valued. Its human nature. The alcholic nose himself (Alex Fergie) has been trumping Rooney all day on the radio.... is someone going to write a sh** blog about that. I would argue that the author of this blog is a armchair critic.,... never played in a team and doesnt know what TEAM means let alone how to et the best out of each other.... Thats my opinion anyw

you r so right man . and ant time u write something you tell the truth simple as that
by maltared on December 13, 2007
Can't this assh*** make a link between the internet and why players' comments 30 years ago were'nt widely disseminated? You DO find everything on the net, even verbal shi* like this Jaimie Kanwar tries to pass for journalism....
by Skamp on December 13, 2007
I see you've removed 'i'm passionate about Liverpool' from your tag, working journo my hairy ar** (maybe for a free sheet) you're just obsessed with all things Liverbird (in a bad way) the reason being that you know Liverpool news sensationalist bollocks or not sells more than any,but it doesn't take a genius to work that out. I wold rip into your crap but Wazz has done it for me.
by Alan on December 13, 2007
I work with a Fulham fan who went to the recent Man Ure match at Old Trashford and he couldn't get over how al the Mancs sung about was LFC - come on, tell us jealous Manc !!! Why do they !!

The majority of articles on this site are written to provoke arguments. This latest drivel is utter garbage. What a waste of time writing this was. All players praise their team mates, and Liverpool are playing well at the moment apart from the reading game. Do yourself a favour, stop writing sh** like this just to try and get more people on the site in the hope that more banners/ads will get clicked, after all that is clearly the aim here.
by Isaac Hunt on December 13, 2007
You're like a literary version of Adrian Durham. Why not actually write something about important matters in football such as ticket prices, infated player wages, he role of agents etc. Your articles focus on absolutely nothing but trivialities and usually with an anti Liverpool slant. You'll fit in perfectly at the S*n.
by Sam on December 13, 2007
Stopped reading after 2 lines. Fact of the matter is, we won at a place where no English team has ever won before, in fact all 6 had been beaten, not only did we win, we won 4-0. On current form, name me a better midfielder in the world than Steven Gerrard. Torres IS world class, still got a lot to show but that still doesnt stop him being world class. As for the other comments, if you believe tabloid journalism in the way that you do then you may as well have copied and pasted from other articles, nothing original in here at all. Next time you go to Anfield, send me an email and I shall arrange to meet you there, can be sure as hell that you wont be wearing a Liverpool shirt though. You dont support them mate and if you do, I dont think you will have ever watched them live and paid a penny to see them in the flesh. Dont write such drivel again, its a waste of time.

So, trying to hide under the sheep's skin eh! So tell me this, is also Lippi licking Gerrard's boots, saying that he's the best English player? Come on Kanwar, you better get another job
At least you are improving, but deep down, your obsession is still there. So tell me this, is even Lippi now licking Gerrard's boots as well, seeing how he praised him?

I can smell something burning everytime someone says something nice about GERRARD. (Laughs). God... I love being entertained by Amateur writers. It gives me a good laugh. Point made by FRANK to be noted.

...look at all the proof!! Just look at it!! This guy knows what he's talking about! What? I forgot to sign a different name? Uh... Where's Dixie?
by DiegoCruyff on December 14, 2007
Jaimie, i agree with the point that Liverpool FC have lost their famous and traditional diginity and humilty. I believe this was lost after Istanbul 2005. However what we all should be asking is why this has happened and i think its do with THE modern era. An era where everything gets blown out of proportion. Secondly i think this lavish praise comes from the fact that Liverpool have not won the league since 1990, thus players and fans over exaggerating certain things ue to understandable pain, desperation and impatience. I would agree with Pepe that Liverpool are one of the faviroutes and I feel Fernando has the potential to be World Class but is not yet. HOWEVER YOU ARE WRITE IN THE SENSE THAT LIVERPOOL SHOULD NOT BE MAKING THESE COMMENTS SO PUBLIC COZ THEY DO SOUND AROOGANT AND RATHER MAN U LIKE. But this is the 21 century and not the 1960's, this is Rafael's team, not Shankly's or Paisely's. Some Liverpool fans want the style of football of old, the formation of old, the players of old and the behaviour
by Diego Cruyff on December 14, 2007
Some Liverpool fans want the style of football of old, the formation of old, the players of old and the behaviour of old. This just cant happen, as you said this is a time when players release autobiographys at the age of 24 and so called musicians release best of albums 3 years into their career. As for Steven Gerrard in the same league as Kaka and Messi, thats insulting to the south americans. The only player Liverpool player close to them or could get close is Fernando. The thing is, Jamie Carragher has a habit of talking alot, as does Steven, like you menti... Englang 2-3 Croatia. Good article, Liverpool are Englands finest and one of Europes' finhest in terms of major trophies, but no more in terms of Humilty and Diginity. The sport is full of YES MEN and BLING.

Kanwar, I am sure you can do a better job with Cow Sh*te.... Forget Journalism...
by Z Kay on December 14, 2007
whatever your opinion of liverpool players showing off and being arrogant. I ell u to get stuffed buddy. Liverpool is my team. ans im my opinion torres is a monster, gerrard is a world class top 5 player in his position. And so to is ronaldo, rooney. both teams have class. each fan will believe the team he suports is the best. If torres aint a monster, why does Carlos Queiroz say " torres is a eagle"? Give credit where credit is due. Irrespective of who you support. Respect each team and their strenghts.
by Shafiq on December 15, 2007
Well, what can I say? It's true that whenever you log in to the LFC website, it's just "Stevie is the best" "Torres is the best" and what not. But they need to reassure themselves I guess. But this article is just too harsh.
by red john on December 18, 2007
totally agree with this article; it apperars that it is the modern way and liverpool are far from the only club with this affliction. My own team of united that are currently the best of the premiership but perenial under achievers in europe are arguably even bigger exponents of this self obsorbed sychopantism. Personally i wish we could hark back to the days of bob paisley who rarely had a bad word to say about the opposition or a good one about his on team; there record speaks for itself. Do i expect it to change; nope a look at the tv and media in this country says it all really; a hugely sad and diillusioning thought; but true!

by james (a real honest person who knows about football rather than the jornaliste) on January 07, 2008
torres per minute is the top scorer so he is a monster in football babel is a sensation who is a better prospect than theo walcot if you call rafa just a manager look bet you couldnt wn the champions league we are ONE OF the favourites because we have great experience in europe now after all that may i just end on saying you Jamie Kanwar are a disgrace of a journaliste and should work at the sun where this types of articales belong so oveall i find it nessarcery to sat look at man utd and you see the same thing
by Carl on January 10, 2008
’Fernando Torres is a monster of football. For me he is one of the best forwards in the world’-mascherano ....sure he´s god. Zlatan Ibrahimovic though is a REAL monster of football and he Is the best football player in the world! No doubt!!!
by Frustrated ex Fan on January 15, 2008
I think if they brought out a wage scheem at anfield based on performance then and only then would you see the Liverpool players putting in a performance worthy of playing for this once great club and giving the fans something back in return
