It seems that some journalists are convinced that money is no object at White Hart Lane and that Juande Ramos is about to go on a spending rampage.

The following are all reported targets. I should hasten to add that these rumours are merely being reported by me and I do not condone made-up stories, even those by such reputable sources as the Daily Star. I will try to sum up the possibility of these moves in one word so as to cut through the myriad of fiction that muddies my otherwise spotless rumour reporting record:

Tottenham are ready to spend £8m to land Lazio defender Guglielmo Stendardo (The Sun). MAYBE.

'A veteran striker such as Larsson would help bring on the young talent at Arsenal'

Ajax defender Urby Emanuelson is close to a £7m move to White Hart Lane (The Mirror). POSSIBLE.

Tottenham want to challenge Liverpool for Racing Santander's £5m defender Ezequiel Garay (The Observer). UNLIKELY.

Russian international Andrei Arshavin is a target for Tottenham who are ahead of Newcastle United in the race for the £10m star’s signature (Various). YES

Juande Ramos is close to agreeing terms with former club Sevilla for striker Fredi Kanoute in a £17.5m move back to the Lane (Various). NOPE

News has emerged that Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is considering moving for former Manchester United and Celtic legend Henrik Larsson (The Times) and there are rumours circulating that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may consider snapping the out-of-contract striker to help as cover.

The 36-year-old has completed his contract at Helsinborgs and could still manage to make the grade in the Premier League as he proved at Old Trafford last season where in 13 matches he tasted defeat only once. Arsenal still have fitness concerns over Robin van Persie and a veteran striker such as Larsson would help bring on the young talent at the club, so a short-term contract could suit all parties.

Liverpool are closing in on Reading’s exciting prospect Jon Henry (Various). The 18-year-old, currently on loan at Bournemouth, first attracted Rafa Benitez’s attention in a Carling Cup-tie back in September and the signs are that the Spaniard is keen to bring the youngster to Anfield to add to an impressive youngster list which includes Lucas Leiva, Nabil El Zhar and Jack Hobbs.

Steve Coppell seems determined to hang on to his young talents, but will he be able to resist offers from the big guns?
