Gerrard, Arbeloa and Aurelio where the 3 injured. Torres was reseted and I think it was a deserved rest. If we cant beat Luton without Gerrard and Torres then who are we going to beat? Nothing happened, it was a cup game and as happens the smaller sides play above their station and give bigger sides a run for it. Barsnley did it to United in 98 and at Old Trafford before winning the replay. Bristol City have done it to us, Wrexham did Arsenal I think? Having a completely different side, many of whom had not played together before, particularly the centre of the field will never help. Constantly changing players roles during the game affects cohension too. Bottom line? Rotation is all well and good but wholesale changes (as Rafa always does) is not rotation.
