why would agbonlahor want to go to spurs?
by Eh? on January 08, 2008
Gabby swap for Defoe?!? My god, the media must be bored.

If personal abuse will not be tolerated, how come the first 2 morons got onto the board?????

spuds fan.
by Sarge on January 08, 2008
Villa would want 15 million plus Defoe for the deal to be fair. Gabby want to be part of a bright future, not a small London club attempting to be BIG.
by Yidarmy on January 08, 2008
Who's deluded? Get a life you tool! Regarding the "speculation", that's all it is... and that's putting it nicely! I agree and i'm a spurs fan, why would gabby come to spurs? I'd prefer Laursen to be included in any deal, but again why would he want to come and play in our shambles of a defence?
Now you're just being silly! Villa fans, don't you just love em... win a few games, you're in the dizzy heights of the top half and all of a sudden you get some ba**s...
by Mr Bluesky on January 08, 2008
I don't think Alex Furguson needs Berbatov, he's just scared one of his close rivals (including City these days) may get him. Personally, although City cannot offer the player Champions League football this season, I definitely believe it would be the right move for him, why... He would be assured first team place, Im sure we'll qualify for Champs League if he signs for us, We are a massive club building up a lot of momentum and we have a chairman & manager desperately wanting Manchester City Football Club to be the best in the land - and Mr Berbatov could be a massive part of all that. He would be idolised at City.
by Dee on January 08, 2008
Please not Gabby to Spurs..overrated crap player
Spurs over achieved 2 seasons running, Berb is off, your season is nearly over - enjoy the relegation battle, things are changing. your defence is a disgrace, only your forward line may get in to the Villa team at a push. King,Chimbonda, berbs, keane the rest are purely over rated - Robinson, Jenas, Defoe, Bent.
by al on January 08, 2008
Please not Gabby to Spurs..overrated crap player
Wouldn't want him to go but surely if what you say is the case then he would suit Spurs to the ground!
by Bright on January 08, 2008
Its a much more than winning with arsenal but also great entertainment
LOL, whatever dude... well done on being 7th, you must be really proud! Our season over, whatever mate... can you jog my memory please what Cups are you still in?Yes we may have a s*** defence but we're still in 3 Cups, for how much longer only time will tell but nevertheless its still 3 more than you!
by Mark (author) on January 08, 2008
I am not sure if people still don't get it, most people do thankfully, but for those who don't let me explain. I am not saying anything new here, these are reports (sourced as shown) of rumours, i then tell you what i think of them, and yes most of them are pure speculation, that is exactly what i say. I am just giving people a chance to discuss the rumours that are on the whole fabricated by the tabloids.
by johnno on January 08, 2008
PLEASE stop writing all this because its all rubbish aint it?! as for u villa and man city fans, get a bit of perspective - you've had a good five months, we'll see whether ur even playing in europe in a couple of seasons or so - dont be so fickle. berbatov will NEVER go to city, that is the most riculous thing ive ever heard. if he does want to move he'll be going utd or the milan sides, NOT to go and play with samaras, vassel, bianchi and co. hes not thick! as for villa, i lived in perry barr for a few years and have never seen so many johnny come latelys, its worse than chelsea - now ur in the top half of the table (well done boys) suddenly ur going places - its laughable!
by Carl on January 08, 2008
Mark don't waste your breath, i think the majority of people get it. Johnno, these rumours are all over the internet, that is the point this author is making, why not actually read something before making a comment?
carl my friend! this sportingo site comes on my spurs news feed - WHY. its full of bollocks, u know 95% of these stories are completely false - its clear to see so why this poor bloke is wasting his time writing these ludicrous stories is beyond me. im fully aware of what u r saying but the actual source of these stories has no evidence. drogba to arsenal??? where did that come from? i've heard some corkers on this site. as for what sarge said....i agree mate, no cup competition V 3 cup comps! let them have they're dizzy moments of 7th LOL. sing when they're winning - thats always been their problem!
by Nigel on January 08, 2008

The Drogba one for instance i have seen all over the web. I do agree with you the sarge is clearly deluded!
by Mr Berbatov on January 08, 2008
Thinking about it, maybe Mr Bluesky is right. Spurs need to sell to buy so they are not really going anywhere, afterall if they didn't have me then they would probably go down. I'd probably be sat on the bench getting frustrated at United and if my face doesn't fit at Chelsea then there is nothing down for me there. Manchester City are the team of the moment, perhaps taking Liverpool's place in the Champions League next season - Yes... it's got to be City. COME AND GET ME SVEN
i agree with the fact the author gives his own realistic slant on it and its not his story. but with the headlines popping up on my feed you'd expect actual news - not some bloke regurtitating some crap hes seen on some other blokes article. ive been on sky sports, bbc etc (seasoned sites which have substance) and found no reports of agbonlahor/defoe swaps, drogba to arsenal, or harry redknapp going to dig up george bests grave to find a striker!

You must admit though it's hard to tell a possible rumour from a fake one, unless off course it comes from the Daily Star!

Who really cares about the cups? Honestly? Spurs will not win the either cup not with the BIG 4 in them all absolutely no chance of beating any top 4 club at the moment, and if you really think you can you are the ones who are seriously deluded....I am not saying Villa are going to finish in CL but Europe is possible, and we will finish above Spurs in the league(your too poor defensively bad start). Next season if Villa are in Europe I can say that CL is possible, one of the greatest managers in the Country by far only Wenger and Fergie are better. We will see what happens and do not start crying spurs boys when you miss out on Europe this year....
villa fans no thay will onyl be aone season wonder well be back up there next season.....let ramos buy hes own players an watch us succed

sarge saying spurs not a massive club answer me this why are we then one of the most supported clubs around the globe. a small club trying to be big m8 when you club gets a history or actually wins anything then start commenting on spurs. berba has stated he is not leaving this season and defoe wants to stay and id loveto see him stay and 15mill plus defoe ur having a laugth defoe is an all round better player then gabbi "fact" so be alittle more mature with your comments.
we will amke europe next seaon beat the scum an where almost there if chelsea win, an vill in europe to early to to see if that will happin please wailt till may

Whilst I've been a fan of Defoe, I'm starting to get the feel of a Bosman here. After Sol Campbell took us to the cleaners, it must not be allowed to happen again. I suspect that it may now be the time to sell. Do they share the same agent?
Seem to remember a couple of seasons back we went one better... Spurs 3-0 up at half time, City down to 10 men and then came out in the second half and absolutely wiped the floor with you, City winning 4-3 at White Hart Lane - now that's what you call a win !
Mr Bluesky....ur might city cud not beat us with 10 men for 70 min...with out s*** defence ye cud no score....an we win 2 nil....give us a brake ye were fightin rel gation last season an doin well so far this season but wait until may please an see where ye fin
i am sick to the back teeth of thick, short-sighted, spurs fans. has there ever been a more deluded bunch? apart from your last two decent seasons, the highest you mugs finished in the prem was 9th. the rest of the time you spent in your rightful position in the bottom half of the prem (like you are now). to then have the audacity to suggest villa don't have a history shows how deluded you really are. has any london club ever won the European cup? course they haven't.....yet TWO midlands clubs have, villa and forest. the fourth most successful team in the land behind liverpool, manyoo & arsenal is villa. fact!! then comes everton, sunderland...spuds nowhere to be seen. still wanna talk history? how about when Villa started the football league in 1888. it was the idea of a certain william mcgregor to get it going, spuds weren't even a wet dream!! insult villa all you like about the present, but unless you actually have looked in any history books, leave out the past, otherwse you only embarrass your

I LOVE the spurs comment above... "defoe is an all round better player then gabbi "fact" so be a little more mature with your comments" I think you need to learn what a FACT is and maybe replace it with OPINION when necessary. Defoe is 25 way older than Gaby you would expect it to have a more all round game.. except your own fans say he is not a team player, can he play on the wings like Gaby? Hmm not really FACT the is it! phhh Also read the above post about history, check out the P.league placings over the last 15 years, what we've one.. bigger club - your so deluded even my gf (A spurs fan) hates Spurs fans! Your on par with the Toon "Big Club" army...

It's a silly article, Villa are and always have been a relatively dull nice plod along Midlands club. Like spurs their glorys have their stake in the past. Man City have the same issues. Regarding being the 4th most sucessful club? depends how you define that. In your mind Spurs would be higher than arsenal for winning more cups in europe. Fact is they won the league a lot of times. I like people who say learn your history and spout off incorrect details... 1888? 5th sept 1882 spurs began? which wet dream was that? modern day football than A. Rowe in '51 and a futher development of tatics By mr. B Nick in 1960 or a still standing record of most consecutive wins? (11 As all good historians know) we should also get told off for the forigner influx for the purchase of two argies... (although that's not a suggestion that forign players had never been here before that as all good man city and villa fans will well know) to finish i shall also mention the 3 also rans with villa, spurs, city as 3 of only 7 origi

you gf hates spurs fans then im soz to dissapoint not a real spurs fan becuase were optasmistic some may say deluded i dont we have a great club full of talent and have not expressed it on the pitch as much as we think we could as for defoe being an all round better player i think he is one of the most deadly finishers in the league and always liverly granted same as gabbi but i just do not see him maintaning the talent he now has where as defoe despite being on the bench all the time still posseses the hunger and determination to score and maintaines his great talent

Sorry mate, had to re-post it as it was so funny, just incase anyone missed it! In all fairness, why anyone gives 2 hoots about what other team's fans say about thm is beyond me but it was your mate Sarg who started all this off by saying that Spurs were a small london club, naturally provoking Spurs fans (who you can count on biting) into a response! I for one do't give a flying f about all this my Dad's bigger than your Dad! I hope Villa do well, and i hope City do well but don't get illusions of grandeur just because you and Citeh have had a good HALF season!
Come on how many have you won be honest, hardly any really. 8 total in fact. 2 in Europe (not inter) 1 FA Cup but more importantly 5 League Cups since 1950. Spurs on the same par have 14 since 1950 including League winners twice, FACUP 6, League Cup 3 and 3 in Europe. JOG ON !!

"as for defoe being an all round better player i think he is one of the most deadly finishers in the league and always liverly granted same as gabbi but i just do not see him maintaning the talent he now has where as defoe despite being on the bench all the time still posseses the hunger abd determination to score and maintaines his great talent" Guessing at how good Gaby will or won't be in 5 years time is definitely an OPINION not FACT as you previously made a deal out of. Also regarding Defoe having 'hunger abd determination' I totally and utterly disagree. He drifts in and out of games, doesn't chase lost causes or run down the line - he looks half baked to me. Granted he 's a great finsher but thats not enough for most teams - thus you own fans 'He's not a team player' comment. I REALLY don't want him at Villa, I think he'll be a complete flop. Seems to me he's happy taking home 30k a week and living life clubbing around London. Anyone with ANY sort of determination or hunger to achieve would not c

FACT.
I agree mate, we've both underachieved, the league doesn't lie and for the record hasn't lied for the last 2 seasons either... i don't understand where this Villa v Spurs problem has come from! I actually like Villa, i like MON, they have a core of good British players and I would like to see Villa challenging, along with Spurs and City the top 4 as it would be good for the game in this country! We all have our idiot fans and it should be known that the words of a few do not reflect the fans of a club as a whole!

So we are trying to buy the PL? Is that a joke? How much money have Spurs spent since 1961...on NOT trying to win the title? The Cisse issue is BS. It's Marseille, Cisse and his agent trying to stir the pot, sending out press releases and faxes to anyone who will bite. Cisse fits about as well into Svens plans as common sense into a Spurs fan, i.e. not at all. Nery Castillo (who actually is good) gets ZERO attention. But the headline "Useless T*** snubs City" gets VAST coverage. Wonder why. Spurs fans are as worried as Everton fans are as worried as Liverpool fans...because it has finally dawned that maybe, just maybe, someone is going to leapfrog right over them and cause some serious self-examination.
As to not having "British" players (or do you mean English) in the squad, are you totally clueless? By common consent, one of the few things City have done right over the last 30 years is bring on homegrown talent, but that's a different story. Lets look at a few names now who have played recently, and as you said British, for the hell of it, I'll throw in the Irish (yes, I know British and Irish and not synonymous): Dunne, Richards, Ireland, Hart, Johnson, Ball, Onuoha, Vassell. Given that Sven's signings have been under the radar and on the cheap, how on earth can you say City are trying to buy anything?
As to City fans being deluded, we 40000, after 30 years of nothing except relegation after relegation, are under no illusions. What we are doing is having a laugh at the stressed out opposition who cannot stand the thought of anyone competing and stealing their thunder. We, more than anyone, know what a false dawn is, what unrealistic expectations are. The fact that a first term, new manager, new foreign players, demoralized youngsters and vets, a weak City, with a pathetic strikeforce, a defence that has contributed but one goal all season, is actually 4th (and has been in the top four most of the season) speaks to how badly run the other clubs are. The fact that City, after 30 years of nothing, are still the 9th best club in terms of wins, losses etc. says a great deal about how poor certain clubs have been, despite shelling out huge wads of cash. I would rather Sven buy has-beens and unknowns and develop them into worldbeaters, than do nothing but buy players that cost a mint and don't give a return.
Since we beat West Ham in August we've been waiting for the bubble to burst, must be one hell of a bubble by now. I dare say it will burst, but that shouldn't prove any comfort to those whose judgment is so poor they are off by at least half a season. We don't really give a toss about Spurs, Everton or anyone else, who seem to have the idea that ambition in and of itself is overreaching. I wonder if City had not had the worst 30 years in history what the relative positions would be? You are so transparent.

Damn you guys talk Tripe. I don't mind Spurs but youy guys are starting to put me off them, I really cannot believe how stoopid you guys are. Anyways good luck to Spurs fans in general and I hope you beat the drop. How much did you pay for Bent again?

What a load of crap! Agbonlahor for Defoe? Worst of all the title even suggests Boumsong to Liverpool... He wasn't even good enough for Newcastle's defence and thats saying something! I can't believe you can get away with writing such rubbish

No disrepect towards Spurs or Villa but I don't think either of you are bigger than the other as your history is about the same and you have both been mid-table teams for the majority of the last 15 years (with the odd top 6 finish). Spurs just have the benefit of being in London.

haha i'm a newcaslte fan and i think it would be great if liverpool signed boumsong i don't know why they would want him but it would be good for every other team in the league if they signed him. please sign him liverpool!!!!

You pay 16 mil for your 4th choice striker, and you say WE are stupid. I dont know if Berba prefers City to spurs or indeed if he will come, all I CAN tell you is his good mate Petrov did.
by Saxon Paige Vickers-Buckley on January 09, 2008
Thought I recognized you from Danny Pugsleys! Did you see that late report in The Independent about what is really going on with Marseille? I knew this Cisse thing was pants. Cisse indeed. I can see it now, the Bulgarian Triangle...Petrov, Bojinov, Berbatov. I don't think he'll come to City even if we could afford him. Did you hear about that 17 year-old Argie striker on trial? Fingers crossed. Ah yes...I remember watching Tevez as he came out for his first game at La Bombonera...how much would he cost now? Rosario Central, José Vizcarra: there's a free scouting report for ya. Get to Argentina...going cheap before they get to europe.
