villa is possible. No-one (other than chelsea) pays the tranfer fee in one lump sum its perfectly feasible that liverpool (or anyone else) can sign him with a 6-7 million down payment. Remember madrid "bought" beckham for 25m but only paid utd 7 million up front the rest over 3 years.

liverpool need to sell voronin and kuyt. keep crouch and buy ONE decent striker. after all babel will get more opportunities as a striker so we dont need four strikers as well as babel. i would love michael johnson but i wouldnt want to get rid of coruch because we need to have a few english players

David Villa would be a great partner for Torres up front and could be tempted to Anfield following Valencais recent lack of form but right now our main priority is to wrap up the Mascherano deal before we try to sign one of the hottest properties around.

I was at Stamford Bridge, I actually thought that Liverpool played quite well defensively, and but for a couple of heart-in-mouth moments, they looked very organised and never looked under too much pressure, although Chelsea seemed to play like a very well organised away team too, which made it a scrappy game, and not very nice to watch. You could see what Benitez was doing, but there was a lack of quality in the wings and frontline. PS Skrtl looked pretty solid actually, has a presence, is surprisingly fast for his size, athletic. Just hoping he's a winner rather than another mid-priced dud.

Let all be honest here, how many of the current squad are good enough to challenge for the title? Gerrard, Torres, Carragher, Agger, Reina...thats about it. Get rid of Kuyt, Veronin, Pennant, Kewell, Riise, Aurilio, Yossi B. Time to be ruthless, we all want them to do well but it's beyond them while Man U and Arsenal are pulling away in leaps and bounds in terms of players.
