Personally id rather have Babbel as he is more powerfull. I think Arsenal should have loaned Walcott out, he seems to be lacking a bit of confidence which will only be helped by getting a few more games under his belt and with Arsenal in such an important part of their season, I think its unlikely he will get much of a look in.
by Kayo on February 11, 2008
Why do you run articles like this, Theo hasn't displayed the basic skill yet to show he's going to be a top player, a very fast one yes but top well the jury is still very much out on that one. Perhaps your intetionally trying to aggravate liverpool fans. Let Ryan be, he's their business not ours.

A.Young is better - would be great for ARsenal, both footed and can cut inside
by rundlc on February 11, 2008
good words there kayo its jus people again with silly thoughts.babel and walcott both have a good future imo.lately all i see is critics and people ect go on and on at liverpool.leave em alone ffs
by hamshanks on February 11, 2008
they're both players with potential but they could both end up not being the finished article. As a Liverpool fan I know Babel can be great one minute and then really really awful the next. He gives the ball away more than Luis Garcia and that's saying something. Walcott just doesn't seem to have progressed, the World Cup was along time ago now and he doesn't look anywhere like the England squad anymore.

..........and silly comments! Babel is by far the better bet to be a success in both the long and short term. I would have preferred Arsene to have signed the Dutchman. This is a game of opinions - you have yours, as silly as I think it is and I have mine, ditto.

Babel easily tekes this one. Liverpool are a dull, crap and boring team. Babel plays on the wing as their only outlet for pace but if they used him correctly, in behind Torres, week-in week-out they would be so much better. Rafa may have a great tactical brain but his judgement of players is terrible. Gerrard and Babel on the wings used as traditional wingers! Idiot. Wish we had him and Wenger would have made him a star. Walcott is well off the pace.
by Rich on February 11, 2008
I really can't see many people in the world taking Walcott over Babel. Stupid article. One can't get into the Arsenal side at all whereas the other is a regular for his country and only a couple of years older. There's no doubt that Walcott could develop into a top player but at the moment he's just speed. When Rooney/Owen/Babel etc were Walcott's age they were first team regulars and internationals.

I've never heard any Liverpool fan claim Babbel to be better than Walcott, even if he is. As a Liverpool supporter, I feel Walcott is exactly the kind of player Liverpool needs i.e someone who can break at great speed. We don't seem to have any players like this but Arsenal, Man. U both have them in abundance. Time will tell who has the most success but my money this time is on Babbel.

Kayo, He was just expressing an opinion not trying to aggravate scousers. Trying to get a debate going.
by shedzy on February 11, 2008
liverpool want a player who can break with pace, arsenal fans seem to think that - once again - we have the greatest young british talent around; and both sets of fans conveniently seem to forget that liverpool currently have the last player arsenal had with such a moniker in jermaine penant.....

Great article, great site. Even Arsenal supporters cant stand this excellent piece of journalism anymore. Good writing and excellent ideas. Keep going, mate!

Walcott is terrible, in the current arsenal team he should, certainly for all the hype and money paid, be performing well, scoring many and looking the finished article. HE has not progressed one bit from southampton and is frankly one of the worst arsenal youngsters at the club. I think he will go - maybe in the summer certainly by the end of next season. To even compare Babel to walcott is a joke. Babel is far from hte finished article I admit, but hes a young lad in his first season in a new country. Rafa likes to change things as it is so until he is fully performing well and settled he is very unlikely to get a good run in the team, but even he looks much better than walcott. Babel is quicker and stronger than theo and will become a much better player than the overhyped and over-rated walcott.

This is a joke,i admit i was a huge fan of Babel during the u21 tournamant in the summer and the fact Van Basten claimed him to be the next Henry was very attractive consdering we just lost the real thing, but for once Wenger has gone for the English man, Imagine an English Henry Or Bergkamp?if Walcott was lets say Ivorian he would cost 100k, the fact that hes english with our National media he was 16million.Yes we have bought Walcott, when we easily could of had the Arsenal fan, Van Persie bummer Babel, but we went English for once for twice the amount of money, but beside the point. So instead stop replying to this once again Crap Sportingo article and focus on the fact we have a half decent english youngster in our squad who has the POTENTIAL to be the next big thing, and lets be honest, would anybody choose anybody else to guide him, the master Wenger, lets leave this in his very capable hands, and see what he makes of him.Cheers

because is the best

I personally feel that ryan babel is the better of these two players as he has a beautiful hairline thus reaffirming him in my eyes as the greatest thing since sliced bread! my hair is similar to morriseys style and my boyfriend wayne says i look like a young james dean! babel for me!!
by Joe Durkin, Liverpool on February 12, 2008
Babel every single time for me. He has shown enough to say he is going to be a top, top player and the only reason he is playing out wide at the moment is the fact we have nobody else to do it at the moment. Once we sign a decent winger he will be used as a striker, which is something Rafa has alluded to in the past. A spell out wide may actually do him some good aswell because it did not harm Henry.
by Luke on February 12, 2008
Ryan Babel is definitely the better of the two and there should be no second guessing that he's better one of the two and will be one of the best strikers in the world in a couple of years!!!
by KL Kop on February 12, 2008
Piece of rubbish artcle, where the hell this guys comes from. This article serves no purpose other than to create animosity between the Reds and Gunners fans.
by REDJ on February 12, 2008
Babel will be the best player if and only if rafa stops playing him on the left wing, and killing his confidence.Even other teams supporters see he`s a striker just hope someone tells Rafa soon.
by Chegs on February 12, 2008
Walcott has talent no doubt, but is a little lightweight. Babel could (and should) be better, but not by much, but his game is marred by both predictably and being larthagic. Walcott will get better, but I fancy Babel to make a bigger impact...
by Eddied on February 12, 2008
People have no patience. I'm a Liverpool fan and I get sick of reading rants from our own fans that Babel should've been better, he gives the ball away, etc, etc. All the Liverpool players give the ball away a lot, with the possible exception of Xabi Alonso. I watched the U21 England game the other night and Theo Walcott was excellent and scored a fantastic goal. He just needs time to develop, as he is only 18, people forget that fact. Babel will develop too, but Benitez has to wake up and play him as a striker before the chase for the 4th place gets away from us. To sum up, as has been said before, give both the lads a chance to become stars, to play at this level at their age already means something.
by austin j on February 12, 2008
Kewell might be bad but i wonder how Walcott sits on the bench while Eboue plays. by the way Eboue could not fit in his national team as an attacking midfielder and you claim he is world class. What a biased article if i have ever red one
by WK on February 12, 2008
Errrr well done for yet another piece of sloppy reporting. Let me clarify....Arsenal had a bid for Babel accepted, they agreed personal terms, and at the 11th hour Babel came out and said he wanted to stay in Holland for another year, but he would definitely join Arsenal the following season. A couple of months later Liverpool show their interest, and Babel is suddenlyl happy to leave Holland and try his luck in the prem. HE TURNED ARSENAL DOWN. get your facts straight
by Erik on February 12, 2008
If Rafa would ever think of trading Babel for Walcott (who is a decent player though), then I´d never watch another Liverpool game with Rafa as the gaffer! Babel has clearly been the 2nd most attacking Liverpool player (behind Torres) this season but nevertheless he is made to sit on the bench game after game and given a odd 10-15 minutes every now and then, when games are not going too well. I´d go for Babel any day!
