Your right Berbatov won't go anywhere and if Real want a swap i would take Ruud and Robinho plus cash and nothing less!
by Frankie on February 12, 2008
I don't see Berbs finishing his career at WHL but i am confident that the appointment of Ramos should keep him around for a while.Especially after the recent good investments at the back.

bang on carl. Why should we take baptista? he's proven he can't take the pace of the prem. Guti's our sort of midfielder tho. berbatov to stay for at least one more season, we need to be challenging for top 4 or he's off
by sirbillynick on February 12, 2008
robinho & a lot of cash then another trip over to spain for capel and villa but for now lets keep this rumour quiet we would'nt want comolli rubbing his hands togeather thinking "hhhm what rubbish could i buy now" seriously though i would prefer him when he leaves to use his passport and go to sunnier clims

Lets be realistic people, if a ridiculous bid came in from a team like Real Madrid and Berbatov hasnt signed a new deal by the summer, spurs will have no choice but to sell. You cannot keep a player at a club against his wishes. The name "sol campbell" and the words "free transfer" ring any bells?

if berbatov wants to leave, then he can leave, all i know is that spurs wont miss him cos he will be replaced, we have a high profile manager now and spurs will continue to improve so no worries, it will be berbatovs loss cos i sense a bit of silverware in the next couple of seaasons and a title challenge will be possible by 2010 and that being realistic, so berbatov can go and glory hunt or he can be part of a team that will grow strong rapidly together and have more pride in being part of the beginning of something big, cos its gonna happen thats for sure.

Come the summer, there will still be two years remaining on Berba's contract. And Spurs have the option to extend the contract for a further two years. It's a no brainer that Spurs will exercise that option and that Berba will have no choice but to remain at Spurs. If Berba is desperate to leave (though, if Spurs can pick up silverware this season, then it is still possible that he will choose to stay), then he will have to hope that a suitable club will meet Tottenham's valuation - which, given the lengthy remaining contract, will be not a penny less than £35 million.
by Elio on February 12, 2008
why do people forever ignore the fact that he has 2 years remaining after this season on his contract, with, like has previously happened with Keane, the club having the option to add another two years, which of course they will do. We effictively still have him for 4 more years. It will take a world record bid to take him from us!

Hold on a minute. We have Berbatov not Real Madrid. They should be knocking on our door asking what players we want, not what they bloody want to get rid of. The balls in our court, we have the player so Levy and Comolli should be making the demands not the bloody Spanish government team, who do they think they are? Biggest Club in the world or summit? LOL. Let get some balls in the club and if they wanna deal have it on our terms for once and not theirs. Same goes for Manure / ManUSA or anyone else wanting our quality. Getting p***ed off with clubs treating my club as some 2nd class entity. Bugger off the lot of em !
by spurs-flash on February 12, 2008
i agree with spurs4ever why do the bloody rest keep slagging us off then think we're some type of traing academy bout time we told the lot to arsenal i would say (a***-hole) but i dont like to swear lol

For Spurs to even dream of Robinho they'd need to sell their stadium. I lol at fans who think their player is worth so much to make mindless demands like that. You mindless lot, haven't even realized your hands are tied behind your back because Berbatov won't re-sign his deal. Also how the hell does an English rag paper know the mind and transfer plans of a Spanish outfit? Utter Bulls**t! If anything Madrid are going for Benzema, not so old Berbatov. We already got enough old players, you can keep him.
Berbatov old? He turned 27 two weeks ago. He's in his prime. And because he's a clever, skillful player, rather than one who relies on pace or physique, he will only get better with age. And just to repeat, since you appear not to have read previous posts, Berbatov is tied to 4.5 more years at Tottenham. He can only leave (assuming he wants to leave), if a suitable club meets Tottenham's asking price - which be at least £35 million.
He has a two year contract, with an option to extend 2 more years. He can EASILY decline to extend the option, which would throw your little club in a frenzy, lol. You think you can force him to accept the 2 year option? You can't. He has to accept it, and the way he's been lately he'll decline it and you'll be left out to dry. Probably ManU will pick him for cheap. Also we already have a striker who does all that, just BETTER. Ruud. Why the hell would we want to pick up another guy who has what... 2 or 3 years left in the tank? We'd rather pick up Benzema so be at ease spurs fans.
by nick the yid on February 12, 2008
you are sad, he will never go cheap and if he wants to glory hunt he can go, but if he wants to acheive things at spurs then he will be more of a man, and achieving things at spurs are very likely
by Chaz on February 12, 2008
It's completely the clubs choice, and not Berbatov's you 'tard.
by Paul on February 12, 2008
Back to the law books Mr Truth, because you are completely wrong. What the hell would be the point in an option that only takes effect if both sides agree to it? That wouldnt be an 'option', it would be a new deal. The option can be taken up by Spurs unilaterally. It is put into the contract at the club's insistence, so that if Berba turned out to be a dud, Spurs could at least get rid of him at the end of his contract, but if successful the club can, unilaterally, decide to extend the contract.
by David Kirby on February 12, 2008
Heavens this sounds a better deal that the one mooted with Man Utd. What were we supposed to get? Brown, Saha, Fletcher and 3 bags of crisps in exchange?
by amin on February 12, 2008
sorry mate but are you being serious?? Listen to Paul. There is no point having an option that both apries need to agree to for it to be enforced. what a stupid idea.. that is basically a new contract not an option to extend a contract. furthremore u question berbatov's value and age. How much was beckham whan u got him? or figo? or zidane? they were all late twenties werent thwey?? didnt you pay 50 million for zidane?? do u really support real or are u just trying to be annoying? if u knew anything about berbatov u would know he doesnt rely on pace and acceleration.....he is the type of player who can play till he is 35 and still be skillfull and effective. this summer will be interesting but just from seeing how much he is enjoying it right now. and with ramos (who' appointment was key) i can see him staying. obviously a cup or 2 will help alot. bring on uefa and bayern in the final! COYS
Truth - I suggest that you give yourself a new alias - "Bollocks" or "Know nothing" would seem apt. The option to extend Berba's contract for a further two years is ENTIRELY Tottenham's. If Spurs choose to exercise the option (which, obviously, they will), Berba will have no say in the matter. Again, I repeat that, at 27 years old and as a player who relies on skill and guile rather than physique, Berba has many years left at the top. You run along now. There's a good lad. Ignorant people like you are out of your depth here.
by dave on February 12, 2008
Sorry real madrid supporter, your wrong and option is a one way deal, the ball is in spurs court.
good response. question is will a carling cup trophy be enough to get him to stay. we all know that if he really wants to go spurs wont stop him regardless of his contract. ofcourse thats until we get a suitable offer. but i cant see ramos playing him if he wanted to go. And as much as i love berbatov....i have faith in spurs and the whole team of staff......and we have a good track record for legends in the making. ricky villa, ozzie ardiles, gazza, hoddle, lineker, ginola, greaves, king, sheringham, klinsmann. not a bad line up
The rules must be different in Spain, than England. Regardless, what good would it do a small club to extend the deal of a sulking player who wants out? He'll "sulk" the euros right off his price tag! Anyways, regardless, we don't want him sell him to ManU.
