It seems that the two clubs most linked with new talent are Tottenham and Man City, which could be down to a number of factors, ranging from having new managers on board to both sides looking to strengthen their upwardly mobile squads. Liverpool also have their fair share of ‘targets’ and it seems that all three want the following players  ...

First we have Livorno keeper Marco Amelia whose performances for the mid-table Serie A side have secured a regular place in the Italian national squad. Sven-Goran Eriksson was said to be very close to getting his man before the start of the season but failed, and now a summer bid could be made by all three clubs (Daily Star)

They are also fighting over David Villa, who seems to be the most frequently named transfer target at present. The striker is said to be considering his future and his agent has made it clear that a move away from Valencia is more than likely. He won’t be cheap, though, so his move to the Premier League could spark a bidding war, but who will win that?

Then we have Cameroon's Stephane M’Bia, whose performances in the African Nations Cup have apparently not gone unnoticed. The 21-year-old plays for Rennes in France but it could be that the worldwide attention he has attracted during the tournament in Ghana – helping Cameroon to runners-up spot – could result in him seeking a lucrative move to the Premier League. M’Bia also appears to be on the Everton and Portsmouth radars.
