But it does seem he is on his way out. Solid and dependable, without being spectacular, just like a centre back should be.

Shame it's true, i have always appreicated Hyypia's workrate and commitment

Awesome servant. One of the best centre backs in the Premiership over the past 10 years and it'll be a shame to see him go. Truth is though Skrtel and Agger seem to be the future and Carragher himself may find getting regular play time a struggle next season.

Should Sami be allowed to move. In fact he should be offered a new conract. We need 4 top class centrehalves and all it takes is one injury to create a problem should we allow the Big Finn to leave.

Sami has been great, sad to see him go. Kewell, Voronin & Risse should be on the transfer list.

sami hyypia will be surprised @ pace is spl maybe good signing for 1 season ?
by Liverman Forever on February 13, 2008
Sami Hyypia is a legend of Liverpool -Brought for 3 Million which is todays prices is barely nothing but has been the rock at Liverpool in the defence with Carragher for years. If he goes to Celtic then I would be sad but would wish him luck. I am starting to wonder if Liverpool shouldn't adopt the policy of blooding more youngesters in the cup (except Champions League) and adopt the policy with has worked with our rivrals. There is alot of talented youngester in our squad plus adding to that the strength of our first team... Who knows what could be achieved

This is a logical development. It will indeed be sad to see him go. He is a true legend. But we should only release him if we can find a new fourth centre back. If we cannot, I'd like us to hang onto legend Sami for just one more season until we get sorted with cover. When he retires, I bet he'd make a great defensive coach.

he should be kept, he still can play, maybey as not as many games, but he,s class i would give him a new contract..

Sami Hyypia was and still one of the best CBs in the world. He just lacking in term of speed which is crucial to modern football. Hyypia n Carra is a good partnership BUT the partnership of Hyypia and Henchoz back then was spectacular/magnificient = Twin tower! will be sad to see him leave the kop

All we could say was thanks for the service rendered to LIVERPOOL.. He would love to go back to his hometown n settle down back there..

I think if Skrtel proves he has what it takes (and after Chelsea he may just) then Sami will be on his way in the summer. What a legend he has been. Probably, all things considered, the most consistent performer for the Reds alongside Carra in the past 10 years? I can only remember him having a couple of poor games.
by Joe Liverpool on February 14, 2008
He should be given a new contract on a player/coach basis. I think Sami has everything to become a great manager in the future and keeping him at the club as a coach will help prepare him and it also lets him pass on his knowledge to the younger lads. He has been our best Centre Half this season and deserves at least another year with us in a playing capacity.
by kurt van reenen on February 14, 2008
I want him to stay and eventually be on the coaching staff. He's one of the finest defenders to grace the premiership and he deserves it...
by Obi Adumekwe on February 14, 2008
We do have a 4th Central Defender...Jack Hobbs! Even Darby can play there. Why not blood these youngsters instead of always putting them on loan. "all I am saying is give them a chance"

i'm actually a big fans of ac milan ..but to tell you all REDS fans out there..he's one of my favourite player..he's tremendous and has the ability to score goals..and that kind of player that always attracted me very much.he always work hard for the team and absolute ly deserved the captaincy.i would love to see him success in the future though he'll be no longer serving for liverpool.
Samy Hyppia is a CB that has the ability to score goals..has a good character to be captain and i think one more that he deserved is to be assistant coach in liverpool..bcoz he's meant to liverpool..i would love to see that happened..

Look at the job he's done in bringing through Agger. Why not keep him as a defensive coach / mentor. Sami has never been the fastest runners but his ability to read a game and position himself correctly has always been his best asset. This type of knowledge can be taught and Sami needs to be kept so he can pass it on to the new guys and the younger players
