Deco would be a great addition to our, at times, cumbersome midfield

...For Alves!
by JimB on February 13, 2008
Alves? No chance. Spurs haven't just signed Hutton and Gunter to be second and third choice right backs (and that's assuming that Chimbonda is sold). Kanoute? I always rated him and was sorry to see him leave. But I can't see him coming back. Sevilla will not be in a hurry to do business with Tottenham and, even if they do sell, they will demand a huge fee. I can't see Daniel Levy paying £10 million for a 30 year old (31 at the start of next season) who he sold three years previously for only £4.5 million. Deco? A possibility. Not sure that he's a Ramos type of player, though.

Why would Spurs buy Alves when they have just bought Hutton?
Why would Spurs buy Alves when they have just bought Hutton?
I agree, but i think that Deco would be good! Any other Spurs feel the same way?

YEAH ALVES AND DECO FOR SURE NOT SURE ABOUT KANOUTE WOULD RATHER HAVE VILLA
by Chris on February 13, 2008
I wouldn't have any of them, what spurs need is a strong mdfield General. I say Spurs should invest £15-20m on one of the best CM in the world if they are really ambitious

i think hes one of the best players in the world at the mo but seein as we just bought Hutton for right back, i dont think we'd go for alves. I like kanoute but hes 29/30yrs old, wotever evry idiot thinks about bent hes more than capable of playin first team, people forget what he was like at a crap club playin by himself upfront. Deco would find it really hard to play in a flat 4 and in with Jenas finally showin his true ability i dont think this would be a good move. At porto n barca Deco had holders like costinha, maniche, xavi etc so he was aloud to play his game at his pace, for Tottenhams formation he wouldnt suit for Chelsea i think he would
MATT - you can't compare Kanoute and Villa. Totally different types (and size!) of player. If, for instance, Spurs were to sell Dimitar Berbatov in the summer and the only two options as replacement were David Villa and Kanoute, then Spurs would have to go for Kanoute. If, however, Robbie Keane was sold, then Spurs would have to go for David Villa.
I WASNT COMPARING I JUST SAID I DIDNT WANT KANOUTE I WANTED VILLA INSTEAD

i would rather spend 15mil on alonso than spend anything on deco. deco is class in spain but don't think he would cope with the pace being he'd be 31 this year. alonso is a proven prem c/m player with bags of ability. alves will not be a target of ours as we just spent 14mil on 2 new players. as for freddie it could be a replacement for berba is he does leave.

What sort of headline is this to get the mugs (including me) hitting their newsnow buttons? What foundation is there in this little lot of speculation? And by the way, anyone got 1 spare ticket?
But, Matt, we're only likely to buy a striker of the quality of Kanoute or Villa if one of Keane or Berbatov were to leave. I don't expect Robbie to go anywhere so answer this: if Spurs were to sell Berbatov this summer, would you really be happy if his replacement was Villa? I certainly wouldn't. It's about having the right blend. And we wouldn't have it if we sold Berba and bought Villa. Besides, I think Villa is highly unlikely for two other reasons: 1. Ramos prefers to play with at least one big striker and 2. Villa will have his pick of top European clubs. Spurs would stand little chance.

I seem to remember that goals per game Kanoute was better than Keane and Defoe and he has scored for fun since he left. Alves - get real why he is gonna sign for when we cant even guarentee eufa cup next year. Deco won't last in the prem, he is a cheat.
by DazzaTHFC on February 13, 2008
I wouldnt want either of them, If spurs were not to make a single signing but keep Berbatov would mean more then selling our star No9 and signing ALL 3 of these players! Overall I think Ramos has the ability of getting the best out of the players we got, just look at Jenas, Huddlestone for example?? I think under Ramos the so called poor midfield we got can become exceptional!! If the money was burning a hole in our pockets then id say a LM could be usefull but other then that I think we're fine!! We have the talent its just after the start we had they looked like duds, you watch them excell!!

I can't believe how gullible some spurs boys are COYS

If you listen to all the silly rumours about who we are going to buy in the summer the food stands at WHL will be selling paella instead of bagels
by Paul on February 13, 2008
Do you get paid to write these stories mate?
by aaron on February 13, 2008
Kanoute to replace Berba - he's not even on the same planet. Don't need the other two either. With Chimbonda, Rocha , lee, Ghally Stalteri going in the summer, we need, urgently, a left-sided midfielder and cover for the King in case, God forbid, he dosent make it. And Thomas Peckhard to step up as the 4th striker. With that in mind look out cosey-holes in the top four , cause we'll be comin' to get ya!
by ch on February 13, 2008
WHY THE HELL DO YOU WRITE THESE ARTICLES? Alves is wanted by most of the top European teams, starting with Chelsea. He would never chose 35k at Spurs over 70k somewhere else. The same goes for Deco. THESE POSTS ARE A WASTE OF SPACE.
