Spurs to break transfer record for £20m man
No, it's not fact - just the latest transfer rumour churned out in the Sunday press. If the gossip is right, Juande Ramos may also find Chelsea muscling in on the Daniel Alves act.

Yes, we have all heard this before - yet another huge transfer target concerning Spurs.
Sevilla's Brazilian star Daniel Alves has insisted that he has not given up hope of a move from the La Liga club (News of the World), which has led to yet more speculation that the £20m-rated full-back/wing-back may be on his way to White Hart Lane.
Obviously the main basis for this story is the fact that Juande Ramos was of course manager of Sevilla - and Alves is just one of half a dozen of his former charges linked with a move to north London. He is also supposedly a huge target for Chelsea. As yet a bid hasn’t been made but it does seem that players will flood out of from a side who have slipped a little in the Spanish League since last season’s excellent campaign, where they came within 90 minutes of winning the title.
Will Alves leave Sevilla in the summer? More than likely. Will Ramos fork out the huge sum for him? I think not.

Alves would be great and if we spent 16m on Bent then 20m for Alves would be a snip

Can't see this happening as we've just bought Hutton and Gunter, unless Ramos has spotted that Alves can play somewhere else other than right back?!

Just bought Hutton. Can't see it myself

Would much rather the money be spent on players such as Diego from Weder Bremen and either Capelli or Hatem ben Arfa

Sevilla will not do buisness with Spurs and right back is now the least place that needs strengthening, Chelsea is the far more likely destination! I think we missed out on Diego a few years ago and I feel he has used Werder Bremen as a stepping stone to a bigger club which is unlikely to include Spurs. The only player I can see signing for us so far in the summer is Jarque. A new keeper is now our main priority.

We cudnt sign Diego b4 bcuz he was at Santos at the time and we cudnt get a work permit for him. The only reason Porto cud was bcuz of his Portugez extraction.

There are so many players written about that supposedly Spurs are after or are making an offer for it becomes tiresome as well as ludicrous. But if there is the slightest truth in this one (which I sincerely doubt)it could be the best thing that we could do, I have seen Diego play many many times and he is a wonderfully gifted player.

Not sure if Levy, Commoli, Ramos or Poyet read these sites or if anybody reading these sites have any connections, but please please please sign us Diego, he would be an excellent addition to our team, I feel a vital piece of our jigsaw.

It could be possible if I brought Daniel Alves from Sevilla but I just brought Alan Hutton so they is no reason why should I brought Daniel Alves from Sevilla. He is professional like Roberto Carlos. He also plays like Cristiano Ronaldo of Brazil but doesn't score goals like Ronaldo. Daniel Alves is one of the best right back or wing back in the world and many clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and our club: Tottenham Hotspurs are all interested in him. Fucker

We could have got Diego from Santos as he holds an Italian passport. We just (as we always do) waited too long and lost him.
by Juande Ramos on February 19, 2008
Sorry for that. Maybe I was thinking too much about Sevilla.
