Arsenal villain Eboue's chance to redeem himself
The young Ivorian has gone from hero to zero among Gooners - but he had a chance to do his cause a lot of good against Milan in the Champions League.

All players go through a dry spell on the pitch every once in a while. This is expected; it is how they respond that will define their season, in some cases their careers.
I am in no doubt Emmanuel Eboue’s offence against Patrice Evra did not warrant a red card on Saturday, but it seems all Arsenal fans have abandoned Eboue because he has let us down so often.
Many fans have even begun to call for him to be offloaded in the summer. It seems at this time Eboue is the one Arsenal player we all love to hate.
How did he go from one of the best right-backs in the world (2006 Champions League run) to a villain for Arsenal fans?
At the beginning, we could tolerate a little dive here and there but it is his relentless drive for the dark arts that has driven many Gooners against the lad. I must admit we have benefited from it on a few occasions. The free kick that led to Sol Campbell's goal in the Champions League final was a result of an Eboue dive.
He was also instrumental in getting John Terry sent off in the game against Chelsea but he seems to think he can make a career out of diving and drama. Sometimes he needs to just pick himself up and get on with the game. Constantly complaining, acting and carrying-on does not help his cause, nor will it win him any fans.
He has gone from being a true inspiration to an average player. Perhaps this is due to the fact he is playing in a new position this season but it seems he has forgotten how to beat the person in front of him.
I am not sure if this is due to a lack of motivation or because he is just not a true winger. Perhaps coming from a defensive position is his best method of play, but many times he just won’t get back to his position in time to prevent a counter-attack. Anyhow, I cannot see him replacing Bacary Sagna at the moment; Sagna has turned out to be the best right-back in the Premier League this season.
Eboue’s other problem stems from his lack of finishing; I have seen him in countless scoring positions this season where he decided to go for sheer power instead of direction or finesse. Maybe he needs a few scoring lessons from Emmanuel Adebayor, a player who had similar problems last season but seems to have got his act together.
Unlike many Arsenal fans, I still think Eboue is a fine player and a great addition to the Arsenal team. I doubt Arsene Wenger will get rid of him during the summer. Worst case scenario, he will go on to be back-up for Sagna, which would definitely be a better option than Justin Hoyte who was turned inside out during the Manchester United game. I can’t see him coming back as an established left-back at Arsenal.
The game against AC Milan will be one more chance Eboue has to redeem himself and his Arsenal career. Because Thomas Rosicky is out at the moment, I think Wenger will stick with Eboue for the extra protection against Milan; he hardly has a choice with so many first-team players nursing injuries.
So there you go Eboue, a good performance against Milan, maybe even a goal, would do much good to your cause at the moment. The least we can expect is to get by a few Milan players without falling like you have been shot, or you could even swing in a few of those signature crosses you used to be known for.

although he has not been having a good run,we can't take away the fact that he is a good player. We also have to consider the fact that he is playing in a new position.we need to keep eboue as we may need him as back up in important matches where sagna will not be available.

right, eboue used to be my favourite arsenal player ever since i saw him make his debut against stoke in the FA cup a few years back at highbury but since last season he has really pissed me off. "How did he go from one of the best right-backs in the world (2006 Champions League run) to a villain for Arsenal fans?" you ask well ill tell you 1) the constant diving and cheating(he even got on his knees and prayed to the ref against pompey away earlier dis season). 2) he cant shoot which means he cant score and that mean we have someone in midfield not contributing to the goals this year he has made 20 apperances and 0 goals(not gd enuf) 3) he cant assist or cross so hes wasted out wide 4) he cant defend he always leaves to much room for the left winger to use and finally 5) he can never accept the fact that he just isnt as gd as the rest of the team its time for players to step up like how ADEBAYOR, FLAMINI, SENDEROS, CLICHY, ALMUNIA EDUARDO and even SONG have over the past 1- 1 half seasons. the players who really need to step up are EBOUE, WALCOTT, BENDTNER, TRAORE, DIABY, DENILSON, DJOUROUyou may not agree but ROSICKY aswell we havent seen the best of him yet but I'm confident that they will all step up next year or go on loan for season or half a season then come back a better player. HOYTE, GILBERTO, LEHMANN need to just leave and for hoyte start his career elsewhere where hes gonna get 1st team football and for gilberto nd jens they need to end there careers with 1 or 2 more seasons at a club where they can get 1st team football without moaning.
I'm and arsenal fan btw just incase people were wondering bring on AC Milan 2nyt 3-1 to da gooners!!!!!

Leave him alone? He's ALWAYS diving and complaining. Arsenal are a team of great team players and great individuals at the same time. Eboue is neither of these, has the worst attitude in the squad, has been our worst regular player all season etc. etc. He had a great year at RB in the CL final run. But come on, regardless of who should replace him (whether bought or taken from the academy) Eboue needs to be gotten rid of. He isn't a very intelligent player with his decisions, he shooting is very powerful but 85% off target and they never go in. He's usually silent for the vast majority of games I mean seriously. We've gotten to a situation where we're better off with a less talented player on the pitch in his place just because he's such a liability.

Jamal Brown - this just shows how fickle and short sighted some fans actually are. Going from one of your favorites to the recent above opinion of him. Walcott is one of my favorites and I stick by that regardless of the performances. Eboue needs to mature and learn but he is no way an outcast like some idiots are proclaiming. Those same people are 1 minute masturbating over a player abd then the next slagging him off. Look at Ade and Hleb. Those same people were hanging them out to dry last year - this year the superlatives flow with pats on the back. Some fans need to watch football rather than just watch matches

I agree with the author of this article that Arsenal should keep Eboue because frankly speaking he have good potential to become a great Arsenal player. He have quality to run at defenders and put in lovely crosses as we seen last season. All he need is some time and advice from Arsene Wenger about his attitude on the pitch. Then he will be as important as he was for us like last season. He can play at wing or cover to Sagna, so that is 1 player with capability to play in 2 positions. A cover for Rosicky as well. Come on he is 10 times better footballer (keep aside his acts) than Hoyte is. Hoyte is the one supposed to be shown the door out. We should give Eboue some time and believe, Wenger is seeing everything we see and HE KNOWS what to do to get the best from Eboue back. I really loved his brave runs and crosses, come on Eboue man, show us the form you really capable of today!! ARSENAL ROCKS!!
Stevo Stephan, You are right, some fans are too short sighted on players. One season they like them and the next they will be shouting their heads off to kick the players they supported out. I was suprised reading some comments saying that Senderos is better than Toure just because he had a bad game (caused by hoyte n traore) againts MU. Wasn't this bunch of fans will saying Arsenal should sell Senderos off a few months back??! I guess whether they know nothing about football or they are not Arsenal fans at all..so why don't you bunch of idiots start supporting a different team heh?? ARSENAL ROCKS!

The fucking tosser got carded agaoin today. His standards have slipped and Arsenal need to buy someone better for his position, he's a liability and one of the leagst talented of Arsenal's squad. For the time being Walcott is better than him there....Arsenal need another Hleb style player who can play on both wings. Gilberto should be sold. Martin Petrov of Man City would improve the squad. Djourou should be replaced by Wheater. Traore by Leighton Baines. Justin Hoyte by Micah Richards. Jens should be given another 1 yr deal. Eboue needs to be replaced and by the sounds of it, Carlos Vela could already be the answer. Those five (Eboue, Traore, Hoyte, Gilberto, Djourou) need to be replaced by superior players, and Arsenal will be much better.

I think Manu is a top player - without a doubt, a very exciting player who is prone to the odd dive, but then ain, so was Pires. We shouldn't sell him - if he improved his finishing then we would be raving about him. So, to all those who are fickle, get off his back. Next season is where we will see the best of Arsenal - they will have had a years experience at the top and will be unstoppable.
