Rumour: Spurs in for £22m record signing?
Can Johan Elmander be worth so much? Putting a value on a player is one thing, a club actually paying it is another.

Remember Johan Elmander? I know Spurs fans do, well he may be back on the cards!
Apparently The Toulouse striker is now valued at a whopping £22m (The Sun). This is a figure that scared Gary Megson to death as the Bolton manager was offering £9m, which seemed a far more sensible price. Said Megson: "His club wanted £22m. It was never going to happen at that price."
Quite how the French club expect to get that sort of money I really don’t know. The 26-year-old Swede is a decent striker who has a decent scoring record in Sweden, Denmark and France. But let's face it, none of these are top-level leagues so a £22m fee is totally unrealistic and they will be lucky to get a third of the valuation.
Would Spurs pay that much for him? I know that Damien Comolli is a big fan, but is he THAT much of a fan?

Spot on, this guy is always banded about, 22m? That must be a joke, that would make Bent look like value for money! Ramos do not buy him! Please!

For that amoumt why not sign my Aunt Lil. She is lightning fast over 30 yards with a cracking left foot and is a great distributor of the ball as well. I here man U are after her.

I agree, stupid money for a player currently playing in a lower league, but hey that didnt stop clubs paying ridiculous amounts of money for the likes of Essien, Drogba, Van Nistlerooy etc all coming from inferior leagues, so maybe Toulouse have a point, they probably dont want to sell Elmander just like we dont want to sell Berbatov, so why should they drop their asking price?

Even though the Elmander man has been in decent form in the recent past, the premier league is a place where it is the survival of the fittest and spurs already possesses some classy strikers. after this season, it will be the utmost time for spurs to consider the purchase of very good to world class players. the Elmander chap only fits in as some form of 3rd or 4th striker should there be the exit of dimitar or darren bent.
