I have not written in a while but after a couple of days of mulling over the Eduardo situation I am compelled to comment.
Why is it the no-hopers in football always try to destroy the careers of class players? On Saturday, Martin Taylor (who has ever heard of him?) tried to destroy the career of a genuinely class footballer in Eduardo de Silva.
One doctor said Eduardo came close to having to have his foot amputated. Eduardo might be lucky to walk again, let alone play his beloved football.
But Taylor’s a nice guy who would never do anything malicious, according to everyone at his club, Birmingham City. Then why are his studs halfway up Eduardo’s leg?
Eduardo is class, Birmingham and their reaction are definitely not.
When was the last time a classy footballer dangerously injured a no-hoper? A player like Martin Taylor should voluntarily quit the game out of respect for possibly ending the career of a great player. Now is your time, no-hoper – show some class.

How do you expect anyone to take you seriously with this one sided rubbish and personal insults to Martin Taylors abilities as a football player. Writing this sort of rubbish I would suggest that you are driven off the internet. It was a freak accident, get over it!

i agree with the last comment there are just too many idiots out there who think they know about football but dont, like the fool that wrote this article, eduardo was unlucky and so was taylor, most people would know worse tackles than that go in every game and no-one gets hurt

If you haven't anything sensible to say - and you clearly haven't, don't say anything at all. You shouldn't be allowed on the Internet you're so thick.

I have to say that a lot of arsenal fans are destroying the clubs great credibility with their views and apparent sentence for Martin Taylor's tackle on Eduardo. First of all Martin Taylor plays for Birmingham City, Birmingham are in the Premiership and were scheduled to play Arsenal, therefore he has a right to be there. Secondly, there has been ample time now to get a clear head on what happened and deliver rational objective opinion. despite this all I see is juvenile kangaroo court type suggestions of what should happen. If you are going to take the moral high ground then please be adequately equipped with morality yourself. This way your point of view will much better received and you won't appear to be the clan of thoughtless trogladites you are portraying yourselves to be.

As a Birmingham fan I would like to say how extremely sorry I am about Eduardo's injury. He is a great footballer and I hope he makes a full recovery. Regarding Martin Taylor, many people have leapt to his defence and I would have to agree with them that he is not a dirty player. He has been sent off once before in his career and that was in 1999. If anything I would say that he hasn't been tough enough in the past. I was at St Andrew's on Saturday and it's also true to say that Arsenal got the rough end of the important decisions - it wasn't a penalty and you should have had one yourselves for the shirt pull on Adebayor. I hope you win the league.

First of all i think your comment of 'no-hoper' is completely un acceptable, it doesnt matter how good he is the fact is he is a Birmingham player who had a right to be there and make the tackle, if you watch the video you will see that taylor did go for the ball, it was just eduardo's pace and skill that meant he managed to knock the ball away and be injured. I'm sure if you look at a lot of tackles freeze framed at somepoint your goign to think, that could be nasty. I agree with all the above comments.

Martin Taylor like the vast majority of people would not try and maliciously hurt another footballer or indeed another person. It was simply a mistimed challenge that unfortunately caught eduado on his standing leg around the ankle! As you are clearly a little bit simple, blind etc this means the foot will stay still while the leg can only break. It is therefore simply an unfortunate accident given that a players leg is usually hit while jumping to aviod a challenge, thus they can roll it, keeping the foot and leg in alignment and escape serious injury. I believe all true fans wish Eduado a speedy recovery and also recognise that Martin Taylor possessed no intent. I guess that means you are not a true fan and know very little if nothing about football...

Who has heard of Martin Taylor? Plenty of people actually, don't be so ignorant. Of course I wouldn't expect a blinkered cockney gloryhunter to know anything about those beyond the ivory towers of his own elitist club, but do try to show some understanding of life north of Watford - it'll make you a better supporter you know. Sure you're upset by what happened, and yes it was a dreadful tackle, but please take your red & white specs off and see the incident for what it really was. If you want to ban someone for that kind of tackle you'd be doing it every single week. Like the referee, you're reacting purely on the basis of the injury that resulted. Tell me this - which tackle was worse? Martin Taylor's on Saturday or Roy Keane on Haaland? No, I didn't ask which was the worst injury - I asked which was the worst tackle? No doubt in anyone's mind. Oh no, hang on a minute, I'm forgetting - everyone's heard of Roy Keane because he played for one of the biggest clubs and his victim (Haaland really was a "victim" because it was premeditated) was less famous - almost a Martin Taylor figure in fact. So that made that one acceptable didn't it? Sorry, but your over reaction is typical of the blinkered view we've come to expect from Mr Wenger over the years. Just suppose the roles had been reversed on Saturday and it had been the "unknown" Martin Taylor lying in hospital now? Would your view be the same? Of course it wouldn't. You can't be taken seriously mate. Hope Eduado makes a full recovery, but please put a bit of thought into your comments next time.

You spent a couple of days mulling over the situation? And then created this mess of an article? I won't even quantify what that indicates for your intelligence... Blues have the right to be in the Premiership, they were promoted. If the structure of football mystifies you, try beach volleyball. This could have happened to anyone, just because Eduardo is a class player does not mean people can't challenge him, and the assertion that Blues or the Martin Taylor's of the world are no-hopers has absolutely f-all to do with it - without these "no hopers" the Premiership would be nothing. Go to school.

A lot of people here's making excuses for Taylor..."Not intentional", "not try and maliciously hurt another footballer", "he is not a dirty player"...blah blah blah!!! What ever! He didn't aim for the ball that's for sure! Everyone is talking about"poor shattered" Taylor. What about Eduardo..He was brutally "cut" down by the CAVEMAN Taylor?? Had this been Gerrard, Rooney, Terry or Lampard a lot of people including the press would have changed their tune here and demanded Taylors head on a silver platter! But since Eduarso is not English it doesn't matter... it's all about "great guy" Taylor! BOLLOCKS!!

After reading all the comments above I think I can safely say 'The defence rests its case' Just read the articles heading - 'Why is it the no-hopers in football always try to destroy the careers of great players'? - and you won't need to go any further to know that it will be a pile of shite!

Martin Taylor has played over 230 games, mostly in the Premiership, all at centre half. In those 230 games, he has only ever been booked 6 times. How many of the Arsenal players have a disciplinary record as good as that? He mistimes one tackle and you start spouting all this garbage about banning him. These things happen in football - it was an accident, unlike last week when the Arsenal players took it in turn to systematically try to maim Nani because he was making them look stupid. Admit it, you've never been on a football pitch in your life have you?
by CARL MULLINS on February 25, 2008
COMMENTS LIKE THIS ONLY STIMULATE HATE! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. TAYLOR DOES NOT DESERVE THIS TREATMENT.
by Peter Jones on February 25, 2008
Can someone explain to me who the victim is here? I thought the guy lying in hospital with the broken leg was, but it seems that I am wrong and it's the guy who broke the other guy's leg? Poor little lamb.
by bluenose 89 on February 26, 2008
the thing is peter jones eduardo was the victim yea, n it was horrible to see, but the way the public have reacted especially the stupid croatian public, makes taylor the victim, as he is receivin death threats for a mistimed tackle, grow up, people really do need to KRO SOTV
by D Clarke on February 26, 2008
Articals like these should never be aloud. Written by a fool who knows nothing on the sport, you could try this tackle 1000 times and it wouldn't end the way it did on the day. It was just a freak accident that was unlucky. Are we now not aloud to challenge the mighty Arsenal? The sport has its risks like many other sports and the players are paid well to take them. If anything we should talking about the way Gallas acted.
by reasoned response on February 26, 2008
I posted a clip of Edouardo making exactly the same tackle as Taylor did and you deleted it. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the fire.

Am sorry 4 some people who put their articles on internet just to gain their own glory, soccer is a fair game . have ever seen any other tackle worst than that1 of Martin TAYLOR but any injury happen 2 the oppnent, let us call it an accident in somebody,s carrer. Who can be happy 2 bock a leg of his sportmate even in ressoling. So let TAYLOR continue playing his football. i wish our great Eduardo will recover and he has ready forgive Taylor. now your comments are nosense. The tackle is one of the worst bse of its result. What about that one of RICCARDO CAVALHIO which missed it target? STOP PLANTING TRIBALISM IN FOOTBALL.
by stuart turtill on February 27, 2008
it's a conntact sport, and as you don't write to offen sugest you keep it that way
by Nigel Taylor on March 13, 2008
I think we are all not infallible. Taylor did make an extremely bad tackle but no one could have made such a premediatated attack. It was in my opinion a bad tackle with freakish results but Eduardo could have had a bad break from seemingly trivial contactas well - it has definitely happened before. Accidents do happen and yes as mom did say carelessness causes accidents. I am sure Taylor is truelly sorry .
