Football last weekend was marred by Eduardo’s horrific injury.

Although we could only watch once on TV, for those watching the match live, one could see the photos of his horrific injury on various internet sites.

News bulletins spoke of the seriousness of his injury and the risk that Eduardo's leg may have to be amputated. I was very shocked to read and see the photos. I hate to think that Martin Taylor did this on purpose as such a player would become a criminal rather than a sporting figure.

'There is far more to football nowadays than the game itself. What if Eduardo does not play another game?'

It seems that Taylor will be only banned for three matches, at least this is what the rules say. This means that Jeremie Aliadiere, who was sent off during the Liverpool-Middlesbrough match for slapping Javier Mascherano, is as guilty as Taylor.

I find this most unjust and hope that footballing authorities review the whole issue. In my opinion the best solution would be that the players who commit such an offence should stay out of the game as long as the player they maimed is out.

There is far more to football nowadays than the game itself. What if Eduardo does not play another game? It means that Arsenal would have thrown away the £16m they forked out for Eduardo.

Eduardo is sure to miss Euro 2008. What about the money he would have earned playing for his country and Arsenal?

I admired his comments forgiving his opponent but I would not like to be in Taylor's shoes. Surely he has now realised what his tackle meant to a fellow footballer. I hope other footballers take note of what happened - this might help them behave differently on the pitch.

On the other hand I do not agree with the way the media is treating Arsene Wenger for his comments after the match. What would you expect from a manager who is responsible for the whole squad?

Wenger is a responsible man, dedicated to Arsenal. To tag him a hypocrite is unprofessional considering what he has achieved and the squad and players he has nurutured.
