With ten games of the season remaining, there’s still very much all to play for at the top of the Championship.

While the likes of Watford and West Brom were expected to compete for automatic promotion at the start of the season, many have been surprised by Bristol City’s sustained charge towards the Premier League.

The Robins picked up another great result by drawing 1-1 at Charlton on Tuesday night which means that,  despite a goal difference of just plus three, they top the table by three points at this juncture.

'The run-in doesn’t look favourable for Bristol, with trips to Cardiff and Stoke remaining, as well as home matches against Watford and Plymouth'

However, midfielder Michael McIndoe has revealed on icons.com that City’s lofty position comes as very little surprise to him or anyone else at the club.

He said: "The scary thing is that when the season started we were after promotion, not just staying up. I couldn't say that at the start of the season but now, because of the position we are in, I can reveal that we knew we could get promoted. Eighty per cent of the squad knew it. I would not have signed for this club if I didn't think we could do it.

"I know my football, I'm not stupid and I knew this club had been pushing for League One promotion for the last seven-and-a-half years. What other club has done that? To be so consistent at the top of League One for so many years takes some doing. Lee Trundle, Marvin Elliott, Ivan Sproule, Dele Adebola and Nick Carle are all players who have come in over the last season to help that push for the Premier League. The club's actions show that we are punching at our weight, not above or below."

The former Wolves midfielder has been an ever-present in the Robins starting XI this season and it’s now very much their title to lose. However, the run-in doesn’t look favourable for his team, with trips to Cardiff and Stoke remaining, as well as home matches against Watford and Plymouth.

Meanwhile, Charlton sit in fifth place after their draw with City, and it looks increasingly likely that they’ll have to settle for a play-off place at the end of the season. However, defender Kelly Youga has told icons.com that the team remain confident of sneaking into the top two.

"Of course I feel very confident that automatic promotion will still happen! I am very positive and I have good reason to be. There are 12 games left and we are just ten points off the top.

''Stoke just lost to Preston, and that has kept us within touching distance. I'm so glad they lost, it keeps the contest going. This league is very tight but it is also very good; it is going to go down to the last two games of the season. For the fans and for the players this is all very exciting, but it is scary as well.”

Realistically, the Addicks will need to put together an outstanding winning run if they are to finish ahead of the leading quartet by the end of the campaign. A six-point margin might be too much to overcome, especially with games against West Brom, Ipswich and Plymouth remaining.
