Anfield is at the centre of a mega-millions tug of war between the sheikhs and the Yanks – does anybody care what the poor supporter thinks?

Anfield has been a media circus in recent weeks as Tom Hicks and George Gillett discuss how best to proceed following the DIC’s attempts to take over Liverpool. There have been a mountain of reports about what may or may not happen to the club, but precious little coverage about what the supporters wish to happen. Is this just another sign that true fans have less and less control over what happens at their beloved club?
The sums involved in the discussions between the American owners and Dubai International Capital are immense, and the fight for control for one of the biggest clubs in the world is fierce. Messrs Hicks and Gillett have angered many on Merseyside mainly because of the way they have treated Rafa Benitez – that anger is well placed it seems after the cack-handed attempt to woo Jurgen Klinsmann before the former Germany boss agreed to take charge at Bayern Munich.
Liverpool have a fantastic fan base and their voice must be heard in relation to the future of the club, whether it’s with regard to the possible takeover or the move to the new stadium.
There is a danger in today’s money-mad footballing world that the thoughts and suggestions of the lifeblood of a club, i.e. the fans, are ignored and that would be a criminal thing to do. In much the same way the support has rallied behind Rafa as the media and opposition support stuck their knives in, that same support should surely be a mitigating factor in decisions about who runs the club.
Whilst many seasons are wrongly categorized as transitional ones, it does appear that the Reds are on the cusp of one now. The investment in the club is key to their potential and, like it or not, money is key to the club's progress, whether it's for the refinancing packages, new stadium or new players.
What do Liverpool fans want to see happen in the boardroom? Should the Americans be replaced?

Another good piece, it's like you've been studying journalism at last! But seriously your right the fans need to be considered in all this. I hope DIC takeover soon and give Benitez the funds he needs to complete the job

he needs to be stuck by, Hicks and Gillett are not good for the club

I hope DIC takeover soon cuz the yanks aren't doing the job they said they would. Also DIC wouldn't need to take out a loan to pay for new players or the new stadium. DIC can make us the best again. I hope we sign Walcott, Young, Quaresma, Alves, Villa and Benzema. But I think that's unlikely even if DIC takeover.

get the yanks out

Are we sure that DIC would be good for this great club? My first choice would be that fans take control of club, if not Mr. Hicks to take full control. Most 50 - 50 partnership will tend to fail in any business just as what is happening between the current owners. Despite all the spats, Rafa has had money to spend.

DIC would be my first choice, even though I like the idea of the fans running the club, I feel this would be almost impossible to acheive, the fan buyout has managed to secure only a promise of about 15 percent of what they need and although they are continuing to push it forward I feel it is going to be fruitless in the end.
