It's time for Tottenham's Zidane to take a Premier role
Adel Taarabt, Danny Rose and Dorian Dervitte are knocking on the first-team door at Spurs, but with little left to play for in the Premier League, this is the perfect time to give the youngsters their big break.

Like many other Spurs fans, I am very much looking forward to seeing more of Adel Taarabt, and surely now is a good time to start fielding him more regularly.
We have qualified for the UEFA Cup after our delightful win at Wembley against some unknown west London side and this would be a good chance to give the 18-year-old star in the making a first-team start.
Unless something very odd happens, we are pretty much safe from the drop to the Championship (touching wood, don’t worry) so the remaining league games could be a good chance to give reserve team players some much-needed experience.
The Moroccan-born French lad has by all accounts impressed many whilst on reserve-team duty and has only made a handful of sub appearances since Juande Ramos came to the club.

To be honest, I trust Ramos's selections, he'll know when to include Taarabt, I do agree with you though he looks a fantastic talent, great dribbling abilities!!
by Tottinghams on March 06, 2008
I hope so too mate! However I havn't been too chuffed with Taarabt's team contributions in his brief appearances. If the coaching team can hammer into him the importance of passing, then he can hopefully go a long way...

I Think he has got to be playing regularly to fulfill his undoubted ability, we have not got any one else in the whole team who has got so much dribbling ability and pace on the ball, yes he does need to be moulded into a team player, but how can he do this without playing?

Look out for Pekhart,Rose,Tarrabt,Dervite,Bale,Gunter,Lennon,Boaten g,Huddlestone the backbone of year2009/2010 season

he can be a really selfish player but i reckon ramos could be the one to make him come pretty good!!

They'll get a chance when the 7 subs ruling kicks in, not before then. Why rush them like Jol tried to do?!?

just thought id be first to say hi to every1 lol but however i think adel has got major potential his ability to take on players and leave the for dead can only make u excited. i do think he needs to pass alot more but that will come with age and expirience. he needs to play more to i think. i also am guttd that we spent 16.5 mil on bent when i fell he is crap tbh. i find him vey frurstrating to watch as he has no desire or abilty to take people on even tho he has emese pace. this i fell hanging on to defoe woodve been such a better idea . i mean when defo first cam to the mighty spurs and made u sit on the edge of your seat every time he got the ball. however great masterfull robbie is i also felt defoe deserved more chances. i see ashley young at aston villa now i dont i wish he was a spurs player could u imagen young and lennon on the flanks. i think its a shame we didnt take a chance wiv him. but however look on youtube ppl and search quaresma tell me wat u think. i think he be brilliant in a lily white shirt. com on spurs

i agree with you all re: the lads talent. admittedly he has looked a tad selfish, but that's just youthful exuberance in full flow. the few times i've viewed this lad i've been champing at the bit to see more of this undoubted boy genius. i'm sure that we will get to see alot more of not only taarabt, but pekhart, rose etc all of whom i've heard good reports. the future is bright & definetly white. c'mon u spurs

7 points gap between us and relegation isn't enough for my liking to be thrusting in these youngsters, undoubted talent though they are

feeling confident ent u! give all the development players a chance! a couple more results like the birmingham one and you yid shite will be playing in the championship . barely above the drop zone and you lot think your european champs for winning the pecker cup! ya kids are crap. ramos reckons spurs are at arsenals level. has he been smoking crack! look down spurs. thats the drop zone.....look up, higher, keep going, try not to hurt ya necks...yep thats it right up there at the top ...aaahh thats arsenal!! forever

great performance tonight spurs. losing one nil at home to average european team.... any thing arsenal can do (2 nil in milan against euro champs) spurs can do better!! wake up
by Doonsbury on March 07, 2008
I think I know that D Griff - he goes to my school. Didn't say anything when we stuffed them 5 - 1, now he's on here biggin it up. Sad.

As usual somebody has to go over the top. Your'e imagining a Zidane where no one exists and Juan thinks a Carling Cup puts his side right up with with his neighbours after their majestic performance in Milan. A usual it's down to earth with a heavy bump and a PSV reality check tonight.

So matt thinks we should have held on to defoe??? a player who said he loves the lane but cant stop bitching about it since he left, says he dididnt get a chance... if memory serves jol started him and mido initially before robbie took his place cos the pint sized knobjockey couldnt hit a barn door after october, then jol started wit berba and defoe, soon to be replaced by robbie cos simle as he wasnt cutting it. why would we keep anyone who wouldnt sign a contract????? let him put himself in the shop window? defoes doing his usual great start routine(scored on hios debut for all his clubs) but it will fade trust me, pompey fans will be crying for benjani and defoe will be best remembered for shaggn danni llyod!!!

I watched Taarabt here in South Africa live twice and on TV. He's not selfish, he just doesnt know how to pass to players making conventional runs into space while he's dribbling away unconventionally. Add a desire to "show" people what he can do and he comes across as selfish. Same thing happened to George Weah, Kanu, Eto'o and Finidi George before they settled down and learned how to play in a structured enviroment. Trust Ramos to iron out his kinks eventually. The boy in my opinion is head and shoulders above any of the above mentioned greats...and I have watched all the above from junior level.

To D.Griff, great performance tonight spurs. losing one nil at home to average european team.... any thing arsenal can do,getting knocked out of last season's Champions League by PSV,spurs can do better!! wake up,Second Leg to come Bellend!

I have been watching Adel since he came over from our friendly neighbours and have seen him improve all the time when he 1st came over he wanted to keep the ball to himself all the time (just like keane does ) but now he has started playing for the team I think he should be given a chance in the 1st team in place of lennon who has completely lost his way, he is exciting to watch and has great skills, I hope he starts against the spammers on sunday. I also think lennon could be on his way in the summer if he does'nt buck his ideas up, he is going downhill rapidly. Whatever happens we as the most loyal fans in London will always be behind our team. e.g home the scum draw Roma in the next round mostly for thier fans??????????????? to have a nice Roman holiday. What's up with lennon??? A winger who looks frieghtened to take on the left back? two years ago he looked great now very average.

I heard last night's result with the commentator saying Spurs lacked creativity in mid-field and I agree. There is a lack of a real flair player. Jenas and Malbranque work hard but do not have the touch of genius that is needed to unlock resolute defences. Whether Taarabt has that we won't know unless he gets a run. There is no point in recruiting young talent unless they get the chance. In the modern game there are natural pairs of positions, such as strikers, central mid-field, central defence, etc. A good policy is to have 3 established players for each pairing but give the fourth spot to a youngster. Thus Berbatov, Keane and Bent with Pekhart as the 4th option. Otherwise the reserves might as well go elsewhere.
