Would Scotland miss Celtic and Rangers?
With the Old Firm perennially claiming to be 'too big' for Scotland, Rangers fan Alex Anderson discovers that perhaps no-one up north would be too bothered if they went south for the money.

With this weekends FA cup results, would a better question be, would an all brittish league be better for scottish fans? Looking at clubs in the chapionship and the top 3 outside of Celtic and Rangers, there is not much between them. Hearts, hibs and aberdeen would easily sit mid table in the championship and would possibly be in the position to yo-yo between there and the premiership after a couple of years. Most of the rest are big enough to hold their own in Division 2. Would an all brittish league format be more entertaining?

do u really think Celtic and Rangers fans could afford to head down England for away games every other week?... clearly not a football fan that wrote this artical. IF CELTIC OR RANGERS WENT TO ENGLAND THEY COULD NOT ENTER EUROPEAN CUPS!! take Cardiff for example, Welsh team plays in England, even if they win F.A. cup they do not get in Europe, it must be an England team for England's league 'because they're doing so very badly in Europe' twice in the last 16 in the last two seasons pal...

I wish that Sportingo would stop giving invitations to dull people to write in its columns. The thrust of this puddle of pish is; if those two bazzas wi' the big dicks would bugger off I would have the biggest dick in this lavvy!

Rangers and celtic join the PL. Increases income by 4/6 fold. 3-5 seasons in easily competing for the PL. Due to ability to purchase the best managers and players. Worldwide the old firm are bigger than Chelsea and Arsenal. Money Money Money you plonkers that think Celtic and Rangers could'nt compete don't have a scooby.Rangers and Celtic DOMINATING the PL 10yrs down the line would be humiliating for those who still think the PL is English.

Every Joe in the EPL with any sort of profile is only too glad to have Celtic adorn their special occasions when it comes to testimonial time , however it ends there. The people in the EPL are scared to get it on with CELTIC and RANGERS - mighty scared of the power and profile both clubs would aspire to if admitted to the Premiership.

It's the theme for the day apparently!! Interesting, having spent some time living in Ireland i think I've already seen what the Scottish league would become sans the Old Firm. Any upsurge in interest would soon be tempered by the loss of any decent players they had as falling revenues mean less well paid players etc. I like the SPL, I have no feelings at all towards any English teams but can summon up an extreme emotion about most of the Scottish ones. I need that in my football. The Old Firm get the blame of the dark nights however if a few of the other Scottish teams got there act together, as they have done in the past, we wouldn't need to ever have this conversation.
