Whatever Juande Ramos does in his Tottenham career -  and he has already done a great deal - he must under no circumstances sell Dimitar Berbatov, regardless of the amount of money placed on the boardroom table.

I am not totally convinced the Bulgarian wont be sold, hence my strong stance. Whatever Berbs wants to stay, he must be given it. In my many up-and-down years as a Spurs fan, he is one of the three most valuable players I have ever seen play for the club.

So when Chelsea and Man United come calling in the summer, (and they will, mark my words), Daniel Levy must hang up the phone and unplug it from the wall. Valued at around £30m and a supreme talent, the 27-year-old had a poor patch last September and October - but he is back with a vengeance. Twelve goals in the last 18 games as well as providing a whole lot more have helped rejuvenate Tottenham's season and to make us cup winners once again.

'Berbatov is the jewel - the priceless object that should not even be considered a commodity to cash in on'

Whilst the club have many players of quality (and one or two without it), Berbatov is the jewel - the priceless object that should not even be considered a commodity to cash in on.

I was aghast when a few fellow ‘fans’ suggested that it would be worth selling the former Bayer Leverkusen man. Some felt his attitude was a problem and that he wasn’t giving the club his all. These supporters are thankfully rare - and they are WRONG.

Dimitar Berbatov is a footballing genius and that’s not a statement I use lightly.

And I bet you thought the one player I was referring to was Anthony Gardner!
